My sister killed herself. My sister went here for over two years. They had been prescribing her phentermine, a mix of «vitamins» and hormones for weight loss. She killed herself. They took her off all other medications and gave her speed and it drove her to suicide. The amount of Hotze pill bottles in her apartment was staggering. The only medications she was taking was from this place. Can’t help but draw a direct line from this clinic to her suicide. I could be totally wrong and messing with her hormones and giving her speed had nothing to do with it. Just don’t think losing her mind was the type of loss she was looking for at this weight loss clinic.
I haven’t posted a review on Unilocal in years so I am sure this will go in the «not recommended» section but I felt I needed to say something.

I have been going to Hotze Health & Wellness Center since March 2015 and I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Hotze and his staff. I am still working on my issues with low thyroid, anxiety, stress, and other issues but its wonderful to feel like someone cares, and is trying to help you.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Hotze for about 10 years already. He was able to put me on the right path after my PCP and ObGyn kept telling me I was «normal» when clearly I knew my body that something was not right. His office is professional and nurses always available to chat over the phone as well.

I have been a guest at he Hote’s wellness center since 2009. I had terrible GI issues, suffered from dominate PCOS symptoms (weight gain, acne, mood swings, irregular periods) and debilitating anxiety among other things. I had seen so many doctors, and my symptoms only worsened, it was a nightmare. My sister-​in-​law told me about Dr. Hotze, yes, it is expensive, but I was so desperate to feel better, I did what it took to get in there. I opened a Care Credit card which gave me 12 m of no interest and made my appointment. I saw Dr. Ellsworth, it was a COMPLETELY different experience, he spent almost an hour with me, listening, diagnosing my symptoms and explaining things to me that finally made sense. I clearly had adrenal fatigue resulting in my severe anxiety, I needed progesterone to balance all of my PCOS symptoms, my thyroid was low, so I was put on Hotze 2%, the yeast free diet to heal my GI symptoms and some great vitamins specific to my symptoms. I SWEAR TO YOU, I WAS FEELING LIKE A NEW PERSON IN WEEKS. It was amazing, such a blessing!!! I had to get used to swallowing so many pills, but it is all natural stuff that my body was lacking and is so worth it. Through the years, my hormone prescriptions have changed from time to time, different symptoms come and go based off of what is occurring in my life, and at this point I have seen 4 of the practitioners there, and they have all adjusted things appropriately and they are all wonderful. I have brought my whole family into the clinic over the years, my mom and dad, my husband and my daughter. I promise I haven’t had to see any other doctor since I started the program, I am so grateful for the Hotze wellness center.

I had low thyroid and was seeking a physician who would help me because I was in the gray area for my lab results. I heard about this clinic and spoke to someone who claimed she’d been helped. I have been under this clinic’s care for 16 months. I am much worse off than I started. I didn’t have an elevated heart rate before joining their very expensive and one size fits all plan. But I do now. I did not and never had anxiety before coming there, but I do now. But in the beginning I believed their marketing. I was told they would base their protocol on my symptoms, yet what they prescribed seemed to be almost the same as everyone else seemed to get: cortisol (for adrenal fatigue), progesterone, testosterone (I’m female), armour thyroid (hypothyroidism). In addition to the over $ 4800 for their first time fee, I had to buy $ 600 worth of prescriptions plus nearly four hundred dollars worth of supplements… per month. There were so many vitamins and other supplements that my stomach wretched at taking. There were at least 13. But I did because I believed their kind and caring words about investing in my health. Three months after the first visit I returned for the followup. By this time the medicine had gotten my system agitated, with a racing heart, high blood pressure, anxiety, a severe «fight or flight» sensation and ready to jumpy out of my skin. I had been doing the yeast free diet to for 4 weeks. Dr. Ellsworth had me drop the diet, the cortisol (for the adrenals), the testosterone (which had made me aggressive) and lower the dose of thyroid. I kept coming back with new blood tests and follow up visits every 3 months. I was faithful to them for one year! But I did not get better. I got worse and unable to cope! They had a nurse contact me because I had cancelled an appointment. She was trying to fine tune their protocol. But even that did not work. I would not go to Hotze Health & Wellness. I believe you can find an integrative physician, a naturpath, or such who can help you and who will not blanket the same protocol on most people who come in as they do at Hotze Health & Wellness. I am trying to find a physician who can get me hormones back to what was normal for me so I can get my life back.

Hotze is a charlatan and a quack. His expensive weird «yeast free» diet made me severely ill. No matter what tests he performs, he prescribes the same regiment for every patient. He is a doctor in name only. Hotze is a snake oil salesman that just wants your money. Avoid him a choose a real physician.

The wellness is run very professionally. I’ve never seen Dr. Hotze on any of my visits. I have Hypothyroidism. I was prescribed Progestrone, Cortisol, and Armour Thyroid. When I first started taking the medication my symptoms got worst. I had extreme fatigue, headaches, air hunger, and depression etc. After starting the medication I couldn’t get out of bed. I spoke to a nurse and she asked that I stop taking the Cortisol and Armour thyroid for 3 days. That helped. After 3 days, I added the Armour Thyroid pill. I tried to take the Cortisol but the jitters started again.
One day I came across the Wheat Belly facebook page. This reminded me that in 2009 and 2010 I stop eating bread and pasta. During that time I lost weight and all the symptoms I was experiencing went away. I have decided to stop eating wheat, grains, and gluten. I do not take any of the medications except for Armour thyroid. I no longer am experiencing any symptoms (fatigue, air hunger, brain fog, depression, headaches and many more. This has helped me and I am so happy I have my life back.

My wife has continued to get sick, one dr gave her over 300mg of progest., another told her to stop altogether, another gave her pellets. She gained 300 pounds, for an extremely beautiful woman that 30 pounds was the end, she is only 42 yrs old, We found Dr. Hotze and his clinic through his book. We read the book on a saturday morning and by monday we made an appt. It is expensive, so what!!! My wife is more than worth it. The 5 hour appt was amazing, truth was discovered. We operate an extremely busy law practice, with that being said, their staff was so professional and caring, We walked out of there that day believing God gave us an answer. As we have called in with issues and questions, the service you receive is 5 star. We notice immediate changes with energy and mood within 2 days. She now is handling the yeast free diet and the balancing of the hormones has started. Not there yet, but the healing is happening Thank you, thank you Dr. Hotze and Dr. Ellsworth and staff.

Hotze has a severe God complex. His word is gospel and he does not consult other doctors when he was stumped or not getting results. He heavily medicated me to mask the symptoms of the illness I had initially and piled on a lot of unnecessary medication when I started having severe side effects from the incorrect medication he added. As a result I was very sick for over a year. After over a year of pain and being miserable I went for three different opinions and all agreed he was incorrect. They diligently worked with me to recover. Unfortunately, it took about five years.
Two of the doctors that helped me knew of Hotze’s bad reputation well and were greatly disturbed.
It pays to get a second opinion at all times, but definitely with anything Hotze claims.

My father and grandfather are doctors and in my father’s opinion Dr. Hotze’s clinic is the finest medical facility he has ever been to. I had been sick for a long time and been seen by allegedly the best doctors in the world; they all failed terribly to assist me. Within 15 minutes of meeting Dr. Ellsworth he had, based on tests they ran, diagnosed my problem and offered me real solutions. 2 yeas later I am running marathons and most people think I am 15 years younger than I am. As far as the cost it is minimal compared to a lifetime of expensive harmful prescriptions that hurt and do not help. Finally, the tests they run prior to meeting with you cost approx. $ 4,000.00 and in my father’s opinion – and he is a doctor – that is probably ½ the cost if you had them done anywhere else and they billed insurance company and, of course, you paid your co-​pay. My monthly maintenance and twice yearly check ups are less than my insurance premiums, but more importantly I feel good. What is good health worth? What is feeling like a million dollars worth? Exactly… and finally these people are some of the kindest smartest people I have met which makes this clinic world class.

Hotze Health and Wellness is a fantastic center. I am impressed by their operation and by Dr. Hotze.

This is the best, most caring, medical center I have ever been to. The staff will listen, and spend time with you. I would recommend the Wellness Center to anyone in my family or to my friends.

By the way, I found out there many alternative practitioners out there who approach healthcare and treatments similar to Dr. Hotze (that is, counter to the mainstream medical establishment) who do just as good of a job while charging reasonable fees for their services. Check with your local chiropractor — you’d be amazed what symptoms they’re able to address (not just skeletal issues). My chiropractor recommended some supplements and daily behavioral changes that fixed a lot of the non-​bone, non-​joint, non-​sports related symptoms I was having. Definitely look into alternatives before spending your thousands at Hotze.
