Bare Bulb Coffee

Bare Bulb is amongst the very few coffee shops in the small town of WR. It provides a cozy, comfortable atmosphere that everyone enjoys.
However, I had a negative experience today. I ordered a cappuccino made with almond milk (note: they charge 50 cents for soy/​almond) and was sorely disappointed. It tasted extremely watered-​down, not to mention it wasn’t hot at all.
With that being said, today was an exception. Their drinks are usually very delicious (try the chai!!) and service wonderful.

This is a great place to catch up with friends or curl up with a book. There is a ton of space, especially compared to the coffee shops I’m used to. Parking is plentiful.
There’s always something going on here! The Spare Bulb room is often used for community events or group artwork. Over the summer, there wasn’t a lot of live music or open mic nights, so I couldn’t participate in those.
As for the food/​coffee, I’ve only had a quiche and their frappes. The quiche is pricey as quiches normally are, but definitely delicious. The only frappé flavor that worked well was the Choco Coconut. In everything else, the syrups were too sweet and overpowering.

Nice coffee shop on this side of town. Cozy and very inviting. I stopped in for a coffee and a croissant. There are lots of tables and a couch for just hanging out. Seems like a good place to do some good reading when you need a change of scenery.

First of all the name. I just don’t get it. I would have expected Edison bulbs and a cool industrial aesthetic. It was just a plain ol, strip mall coffee shop. There wasn’t a bare bulb to be found…
I ordered a cappuccino for here, and this seemed to cause some confusion among the staff. I was asked what size, and this question always bothers me from baristas because a traditional cappuccino is 6oz so there really is not need to ask what size. If I wanted anything larger, I would have asked for a latte. Regardless of that, it was very good. I ordered an ice chai latte to go, and that however was not good at all, I took one sip and threw it out.
Also I got directions from Unilocal and it took me to the wrong location, google maps got me there fine.

Saturday, February 7, I was looking for a place to get coffee and free Wi-​Fi. The Bare Bulb appeared in the nearby places list and off I went.
The Bare Bulb was a good coffee shop. I had a great visit and will go there again.
The staff was nice.
My coffee was fresh, had good strength, and little bitterness.
I got 2 chocolate chip cookies. They were good, though I should acknowledge, I am not a chocolate fan.
The Chai Tea latte was excellent.
Seating was good, with tables of various sizes, as well as a conference room.
One other great note, it is a non-​profit which donates its proceeds to local charities. I will definitely go again.
A note about location. The coffee shop is located in Kathleen, GA in the same shopping center as Lowes Home Improvement and Houston Lake Stadium Cinemas 12. It is situated along hwy 96 and Lake Joy Road. I tried to use Google Navigation to locate it and it took me to a location along hwy 96 which was a mile or so before the shopping center. Keep that in mind if you get led astray too. I called the coffee shop and they cued me to its location.

I just had their Cherry Bomb coffee and it was great for when you want a little more than just a regular coffee. It’s also a much quieter, larger (more seating), and friendlier environment than the Starbucks over on Watson.

I have Been here 4 or 5 times. The coffee has always been fresh. The place is very quiet and cozy. You can sit on a couch, table or a bar height table.
I have been a coffee drinker for over 30 years. I have found the reviews left here rather funny. This business is along the lines of a higher end coffee shop. They do a really good job.

Each visit here is met with friendly service, home made goodness and clean dining and lounging area. Especially love that there are games and books for guests to use. It’s a great family spot as well as local place to go and relax with a book and a latte. I love the way they give back to the community, also. We will continue visiting!
