I tried their pasteles stew at the kapolei makeke farmers market, it was delicious. First time ever trying pasteles, and it was delicious. Not too salty or spicy, and their portions were huge! Fiancé got their steak and shrimp… Nothing too impressive there, I’m glad I got their pasteles(it was cheaper than the steak plate too).

Yesterday at a family festival in Ewa, I was quite tempted by their big sign of grilled steak and garlic shimp scampi! That sounds like it would hit the spot on a hot sunny day at lunchtime. For a mere 10 $, they offered nice helpings of salad, sliced steak and shrimp with a garlic mushroom sauce. Salad was salad… nothing crazy… good dressing. Their steak had great flavor. but lacked in quality of steak. I guess I’m used to eating rib eyes with tons of marbling. This one was definitely on the lean side. Very tender. The garlic shrimp was a bit disappointing. The shrimp size was tiny… I mean tiny… the smallest ones you can find that come with the tail on. I know since I used to buy shrimp for my parent’s restaurant. The flavor was spot on… great garlic flavor and the mushroom slices add a nice touch. It’s ok… a solid 3 stars. Customer service was good. All smiles! Though, next time, I think I’ll try another vendor. Sorry… and I really wanted to like you guys… I love shrimp scampi!

#123/365 They have a tent sent up at the Kapolei farmers market and they had some good looking food. What spotted my eye was their pastele stew, kalua pig sandwich, and bread pudding. Their pastele stew looked really good so I just had to go for that. I got their mini for $ 6, which is only the stew on top of rice but their regular plate is $ 8 which is the stew, rice and i think nalo green salad? I guess i’ll just have to check them out next time to try their kalua pig ;). Some of their other items where shrimp scampi on linguini and grilled steak just to name a few. The stew was really good and very flavorful, however, their rice tasted a bit hard, like its been sitting for a long time… Other than that, I’ll def be coming back for more.
