There’s only like 2 of these boba drink spots so we pretty much go here. I like that it’s a spacious, clean and air-​cond establishment with chairs and tables. It’s located in one of maybe 3 of the popular & larger strip malls in Kapolei; parking isnt that difficult but can be busy during meal times and weekends. But their hours can’t be beat: Sun. 10 – 6 & M-​Sat. 10 – 9!
They have a pretty good selection of original, hot or cold milk & fruit teas and smoothies in 2 sizes; snow ice in 3, 5 or 7 toppings sizes, an acai bowl and a dessert called sponge cake in limited flavors. They let you decide your sugar content percentage and even let you try it before committing to it. I like the different toppings they offer and they offer a free drink upgrade to Large for free via *Yelp* on your phone if you tell them prior to placing your order.
Keep your stamp card bcuz after 10 drink purchases you get a free medium drink with one topping. And we haven’t tried yet but I guess if u buss out your ID you get a free drink on your birthday!
Drink up… many different menu items to customize but you still end up drinking your fave anyway.

I have had Bubble Tea from New York City to California. Hula shake is the BEST ever! Boba wa nice and chewy! Not mushy! Perfect blend of tea and milk with just enough sweet! I see me stopping here every day! !
Happy hour is from 10:00 am-​12 noon… you get a large for price of a medium! !!

Love it! It is what I thought it was going to be. I ordered the banana tea with tapioca balls. Large size cost 5bucks & some change. You can customize to add a variety of toppings. So glad I made this stop. They used black tea in my drink but I noticed they had green tea and oolong tea available as well. It is refreshing and flavorful. I’m definitely going back. Next time I’m gonna try the shake instead of the tea. Looking forward to the creamy shake with tapioca balls.
Customer service: ladies were pleasant and didn’t rush me, explained my options and gave quick delivery once my order was taken.
The décor is very fun and vibrant. Kids would love this. It was clean and spacious.
*also have sugar options* the girl was nice enough to point out that it will contain regular sugar unless I want it otherwise, before we completed the ordering process.

Wow so fresh and amazing Hula shakes make you want to Hula yummy recommend the mango and love that they offer zero sugar and level of sweetness.

Good drinks, pretty easy to figure out. Good service and the boba is good, never overly done or too icy if that makes sense.

This is one of my favorite boba tea joints on the island. I can’t call myself an expert on the topic but I have had my share of visits at the popular spots. One thing I like about this location are the employees, they’re always really friendly & aren’t afraid to pay you a compliment. Having a great vibe and customer service is key!
The place itself is really clean and always smells nice, they also have games available for you to enjoy as well.
Personally I think every café/​restaurant should have a stamp card, it makes people want to come back and be a regular… Sure enough this place has one!
Lastly the teas are awesome, I haven’t tasted a bad flavor yet. My favorite is the jasmine green tea with custard and boba. It has the sealed plastic cover that I love (like the Shirokiya bubble tea place I frequent) and the large size still comes out to under $ 6 with additions!

Finally came here today for the first time. I’ve passed by this place many times and finally stopped in today. I like that the drinks are fully customizable. You choose how it’s prepared, the level of sweetness and what add-​ins you’d like in it. The options are vast so I had a hard time deciding. I was torn between the avocado and taro smoothies. I asked the counter girl which was more popular and she said Taro. So I finally chose to try the Taro Smoothie. I chose Thai Wall (sweetened condensed milk) as my add-​in and no boba. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw they offered a free upgrade to a large drink for checking in on Unilocal so I used it. My smoothie came out within a few minutes and I was on my way. That first sip was heavenly. It was warm out, I had just gotten off of work and the drink was so sweetly refreshing. I’ll definitely be back for this again. I’s like to try different add-​ins like the egg pudding or red bean. Maybe i’ll do the avocado or the belgium chocolate smoothie. Who knows, but it’s a sure thing that i’ll be back!

My younger sister needed a boba fix. She asked to go to this place. Normally I’d just bite the bullet on crappy service if the consumable was worth it. First they ran out of boba. When you ask staff if it’s made with fresh ingredients, «Um I think so» means no. My sister got the milk tea. it tasted like powdered milk and oolong spritzed. My mango tastted like sweet milk and chalk. It took 20 minutes for two drinks for the only people in the store. Threw my drink out with the quickness.
NEVER AGAIN.

Baristas are super friendly and helpful. Loved the taste of my Thai iced tea! Had them put half of the sugar they normally put and it was great. Will definitely be back for more till I try everything on the menu.

Hula Shakes has a lot of options as far as flavors and types of drinks. The tapioca is softer… So if you like soft tapioca, definitely come here :) I ordered the Thai milk tea. It was great! You can also customize your drinks.

I come here so often, the workers know my name and my order. I live in Ewa Beaxh, right around the corner from Boba Café and will drive the distance for Hula Shake. My favorite Signature Milk Tea and another one for the road, no ice. YUMMY!

They messed up by skipping me four drinks later had I not say anything I was shoved under the bus

Great place to come for boba drinks, smoothies, snow ice and soon to have Acai bowls too! They offer stamp cards here and also free drink on your bday! Great staff and service! I love their milk tea here!

More thoughts, same rating, but I didn’t want to leave a tip because it’s kind of significant.
I still love this place, as always, however I appreciate it so much more after a trip to Maui where there was pretty much only one place to get bubble drinks on the entire island. I got a coffee bubble drink from a crack seed shop and it was the absolute worst bubble drink I have ever had. The tapioca was completely bloated, so much so that it practically disintegrated before I could chew it.
At Hula Shake though, the tapioca is always absolutely perfectly cooked. As many times as I’ve been here, not once have I found an off day for tapioca.
I did, however, have my first hiccup a few days ago. I always get a large 50 percent sugar coffee smoothie with double tapioca and a few days ago, it was far sweeter than it should’ve been. To me it tasted like full sugar, which is actually too sweet for me.
(Believe it or not, I just can’t eat something if it’s too sweet. I stay away from chocolate drinks, shakes, ice cream – I can’t even drink mochas and any coffee drink with added flavor syrups… as such I wanted to toss my hula shake as soon as I took a sip.)
Luckily for me, my sister (and the dutchess of Hula Shake) was kind enough to turn the car around and take me back to ask them to redo it.
The boy at the counter very nicely did so only this time with 25 percent sugar just in case. It was okay and I accepted it, but it was a far jump from what I had earlier and was nearly sugarless (which is actually pretty accurate for what 25 should be). The odd thing is that while the 50 was far too sweet, the 25 was too bland. I couldn’t find my happy medium and that familiar taste of my regular… Hopefully next time though.
In any case I tipped an extra two dollars for their trouble and was much more satisfied with my drink this time around.
My tip and lesson learned from this experience is to be safe and as their sign says, start with low sugar, then add. I had come to be way too accustomed to my regular drink to be cautious about it, but now I think I’m going to test it every time to account for different people working. I also theorized that maybe the tapioca had been over-​sugared, which might be the true culprit for it tasting like 100 percent. I know when I cook tapioca at home, the last step is always sugaring it after draining.
For these reasons, always taste test! (Though in my opinion that makes more labor for the workers.) And secondly, don’t wait til you’re in a car and driving off to try your full drink…
Another tip: don’t blow into your straw in attempt to mix the bottom liquid with the slush up top… unless you want a slush explosion on your shirt. Always stir.

I’m so old fashioned when it comes to my Bubble Teas. I need to be more adventurous, especially since you can totally customize your drinks and mix flavors at this place! I believe this used to be a self-​serve, but recently renovated into your standard counter-​order setup.
On a hot afternoon doing errands, the only thing on my mind was to find the nearest bubble tea shop to quench my thirst. I was pleasantly happy to find this shop located in the Kapolei shopping center. I ordered my usual– Honeydew milk tea, blended, with tapioca balls. It might’ve just been me dehydrated and instinctually going for the familiar, but it wasn’t till i sat down and looked more closely at their menu that I started second-​guessing my order. Blue Coral Smoothie, Winter Melon, Snow Ice, even the Sponge Cake looked divine in the picture on the wall! *drools*.
My bubble tea tasted good and they don’t skimp out on the bubbles! The service is quick and the staff are all very nice and helpful. I definitely need to come back here to try all those other delicious drink/​food items. Preferably on a hot and sunny adventurous kind of day. ;)

I love hula shake! The milk tea and honeydew is my favorite. I think I like this place more than the other places in town. The only thing though (hence the –1 star) is that everytime I go in there the customer service is pretty ‘meh’. They rushed me majority of the time and when I am like thinking of what I really want (since there’s like a million ways to get one item) it’s like you’re wasting your time being there. There was probably only one time that I had a nice girl. But I dont know. I guess it’s a hit or miss? But I still love the drinks. I have yet to try that bubble waffle thing. That looks interesting.
I almost forgot. I must check in the next time I go in there! I wouldn’t mind a free upgrade! I love when businesses do this kind of thing lol

Made my monthly pilgrimage to the West Side to explore new businesses. Was craving for something to cool me down… Looked on Unilocal and found this little gem!
Located in the same shopping plaza as Safeway in Kapolei, it is a nice treat on a hot day. If you’re facing Safeway, Hula Shake is on the left side, next to Phở 808. Their prices are reasonable. And if you check in on Unilocal,you can get a free upgrade to a Large sized drink for the price of a Medium. Cool deals!
I got my usual, so as to have something to compare across the board: Jasmine Green Milk Tea with Milk Pudding. It was delicious. I find it strangely addicting.
There are many flavors and combinations. Whatever floats your boat. If you’re ever in the area, give them a try. I think you’ll enjoy it.

I’m never in the Kapolei area, so I doubt I will ever be back again to try out their different milk teas… sucks because I like how they automatically upgrade you from a medium to a large size drink if you check in on Unilocal.
They have a pretty big interior if you ask me, and a large space in the middle which could be used for more tables/​seats. The place is clean and neat, with helpful staff and owner. They would ask you if you have a stamp card with them before you pay and explained everything pretty well on the menu if you were a first-​timer (like me!).
As a coffee lover, I tried out the coffee milk tea with coffee jelly and lychee popping boba. The price for their toppings are a deal compared to other boba places I’m used to. Just a quarter more for each topping?! Yes, pleaseeee. Apparently my drink had an option of being blended into smoothie or tea form… so I opted for the smoothie version and I enjoyed it very much. It was like a coffee slushie and the coffee jelly with lychee boba provided a nice chewy, tangy effect.
They also have snow ice and sponge cake which I would have loved to try as well. Wish there was another location near town!
