History

Established in 2010.

Cupcake and Things Bakery was a dream 25 years in the making. After 30 years in the baking industry and coming from a family of small business owners. A dream was made into a reality. Understanding that being a owner of a small business will take a lot of hard work, no days off and long hours. We opened our doors on February 6, 2012. We are known for our cupcakes, but also feature refrigerated desserts, cookies, donuts, birthday cakes, cupcake tier displays, cheesecakes, pies and special needs dessert items like sugar free loaf cakes, gluten free and dairy free cupcakes. Wedding cakes butter cream or fondant are our specialty.

My baking career started in 1982. I worked as a pot washer then joined the baker’s apprenticeship program, after completion I joined the decorator’s apprenticeship program. I was then promoted to bakery manager for five years. Wanting to understand the baking industry better I took on a bakery field operations manager position where I was responsible for bakeries in our state. Wanting still to chart my own path I decided to open up my own bakery to be my own leader and be more in touch with my customers. To be know as a neighborhood bakery where customers know you as the owner, the person behind the counter and you as the baker. That is my dream, I live it everyday. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

Ordered a 6 inch round and 24 chantilly cupcakes. They were amazing. The theme was Jake and the never land pirates. The 6 inch round was decorated beautifully. They had some sugar sand and all the characters. Not to mention the cupcakes were delicious. I use this bakery often for birthdays and special treats. Never disappointed. I gave 4 stars only because the price is a bit high. For 24 cupcakes (chantilly) and the 6 inch round was $ 100. Kinda much for the amount but I pay it because the quality is great.

First time here as I was in the area and saw some nice reviews on Unilocal.Large selection of cupcakes. Ordered a dozen to share with the neighbors. I really liked the lemon one, had a little lemon jelly type filling. Moist and delicious! I really liked how they have it clearly separated on each side of the register the refrigerated cupcakes and other pastries from the cupcakes that don’t need to be refrigerated. That way you can really plan how you order and package them. Will definitely be back!

Sidenote: I’ve been saying the name of the business all wrong. Ever since this place opened, I’ve been calling it «CupcakeS and Things».
Now to the real review! Ever since the debut of shows such as «Cupcake Wars» on television, I’ve seen a major influx in cutely-​named bakeries and food trucks. I live in Ewa, so anything that pops up closer than town is on my target list. Enter: Cupake and Things.
I remember going when they first opened. They are a small little shop. But don’t let their size fool you — they’re packed with scrumptious goodies! The place is always clean when I walk in and the employees are always friendly and welcome me as soon as I walk in. It seems as if every time I go, there’s a new cupcake on the menu. Albeit, the prices are a bit steep, but to help with that, they offer a military discount AND participate in the Hawaii iDcard program.
One of my favorite regulars there is the chocolate sundae cupcake. I’m a creature of habit with a not-​so-​adventurous palate so I tend to stick to flavors that I know I like :) My most recent visit, I took my friend who tried their brand-​new Tutti Frutti and it was a winner!
Okay, so besides cupcakes, let’s get to the «things». Donuts, cakes, parfaits, pies, you name it, they probably either have it or can make it! On my recent stop, I noticed they have «necessities» like cheese, hot dogs, in addition to their selection of beverages.
Parking is usually easy, located in the same shopping center as Chun Wah Kam, Brick Oven Pizza, and Kapolei Pet Hospital. They accept cash and credit cards.

I’m giving this bakery 5 stars for 2 very simple reasons:
1. The desserts are consistently delicious
2. The customer service is consistently fast and friendly
We’ve been here about a dozen or so times now, and not once have we left with sub par service or bland treats. Some of our favorite treats are the tiramisu cake slices, butter mochi, and rocky road donuts! The cupcakes are all amazing; they’re wonderfully dense but also soft, perfectly moist and full of flavor. Usually I don’t like the overly sugary huge mound of frosting that seems to be the current fad for cupcakes, but at this bakery the frosting always seems to perfectly compliment the cake it’s on, and is never overpowering with sweetness.

I came across this place while wandering past Chun Wah Kam in Kapolei. Cupcakes And Things is a small bakery that specializes in cupcakes and other baked goods. They have a variety of cupcakes for every taste. Everything from Green Tea, Salted Caramel, Chocolate Mint, to Spumoni. They also have donuts, cookies, breads, and cream puffs. During the time I went, they also had Taro Mochi. Similar to Butter Mochi, but with Taro flavor. The staff are very nice and extremely helpful. They are always happy to answer my questions about the flavor and helping me find the best baked goods for a variety of different tastes. Cupcakes And Things is open early in the morning with everything baked fresh and ready to eat.

I like this place since they opened their doors. I have purchased a number of assorted cupcakes for a family party and the cupcakes were gone in seconds. Today I purchased a lemon bar, chocolate chantilly parfait, and a chantilly cheesecake. I can’t wait to eat them.

This is like our third time here but writing my first review.
We’ve had the slice of cakes in the fridge before and the cupcakes, it’s always good. This time I had to review it for the customer service.
My gf had a special request, she wanted to buy 6 cupcakes and have a message written. The girl helping her went in the back to see what they could do.
A guy from behind came out and had an excellent suggestion. Arrange the cupcakes on a gold cardboard (used for cakes) and write the message on it then box it. Perfect.

I went here on a morning the day before my son’s bday. I was clueless on what kind or flavor of cupcakes to take to kindergarten kids (5−6yr olds). The owner was very helpful in helping me make my decision. I preordered a total 24 cupcakes 12 vanilla & 12 chocolate not too much frosting just enough with little sprinkles with theme design and individual packed so the kids can take it home if they wanted. At that time i was still undecided on a theme designs for the cupcakes and i called later requested disney tsum tsum mickey minnie duck alien. They were ready at the time i had requested for. They turned out cute, beautiful and delicious! Just the right amount of flavor, and frosting.

So sad, I actually liked this place. I went in earlier in the week (Tuesday) to preorder cupcakes and a giant Cupcake «greenbay themed» for my boyfriends birthday. I spoke to the lady and explained that he was a football fan, his favorite team was green bay and so forth… just so that she could come up with something because this was my first (and last) time ordering a cake through them. She said I got some thing for you”. So I was really excited for pick up day. Anyhow the day of (Saturday) I received a phone call from the same lady asking if I was almost there. I told her I was running late she said «perfect Im gonna throw it together» it didn’t click that sec but I’m thinking she’s gonna add finishing touches… Wasn’t I in for a surprise! she sure did rush last min because the cake was HORRIBLE! It looked like a bouquet of yellow roses. That was thrown together in 30 mins!!! OBVI I’m furious but there was nothing I could do. they had a girl up front & she said she couldn’t do anything. I was so embarrassed and pissed that I even pre paid. You would think they would’ve made my order a priority being that I paid 4 days in advance or at least deny my order so I could’ve went some where that took their damn time and gave me what I wanted!!!’ Just know that they lost a customer for life.

I was in the Kapolei area and finally decided to try this place. This small bakery specializes in cup cakes and cakes. When I talked with the possible owner they also make specialty wedding cakes and other deserts. They also had custom doughnuts as well. This place is usually not very crowded so I had to try this place out to see how come. I asked the owner what cupcake was good and he pointed out the cookies and cream one or any of the ones that were low. I bought the cookies and cream one in chocolate bc in love chocolate. The cupcake was very good and better be bc it was $ 3 or so, the cake was moist and the cream frosting light and not too sweet. It even had an oreo on top. This place was worth a try and I might go back to try another one but not often bc if the price.

I had a last minute request for some cupcakes and the person I called was able to make the cupcakes the way I asked. No questions asked. He was on his game and they all tasted great. Banana, pistachio, red velvet, chocolate marble flavored tsum tsum designs were what I asked for. Not to sweet but juuuussss right.

Love, love, absolutely loved the cupcakes. My husband and I stopped in after grabbing pizza at Brick Oven.
The girl at the counter was awesome and gave us great advice on local shops. She was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The shop was small, but adorable. It felt cozy, not cramped. It smelled so sweet and inviting.
The cupcakes were delicious. We got Rocky Road, S’mores, and Reese’s…they were heaven. The cake was moist and the toppings, while rich, weren’t overkill. The variety of treats is impressive and the prices were very reasonable.
So glad we found this cute little shop. We will definitely be back in the future.

The pie was delicious absolute 5⁄5 rating for the pastry. But 2⁄5 rating for the person that served me.
The lady at the register did not give me a great experience at cupcakes and things. She did not look welcoming AT ALL and she looked like she did not want to help out the customers.
When I talked to her the conversation was flat, and when I asked about them having paper bags (you know being a pastry store and all) she said she didn’t, and she did nothing to go out of her way to help me.
Bare minimum customer service, when you are serving a customer, try to smile at the very least. I feel strongly about good customer service, and when I experience something like this, it disappoints me, maybe the cashier was having a bad day… We are all human… So Might give this place another shot, because the product is that good.

My favorite bakery on the island. Their cupcakes have a huge variety of flavored from classics up
to Hawaiian flavored and of course maple bacon! Strawberry cheesecake always hits the spot, blueberry not so much I think it’s the strawberry sauce that makes the cake. Love Italian and German chocolate cakes. Staff is super friendly and knows us since we come in every Sunday. Cute little bakery, you just need to find your favorite flavor there.

I had a wonderful experience with them. I had a lot of request to be done in a short amount of time. They fulfilled them all. I was very pleased with all the flavor I got as well. I would totally recommend you giving them a try. I was a but difficult to work with because I am a perfectionist but they did me justice. Being a dessertaholic, I loooove my sweets!
I’ve come here twice, & was given cupcakes from here one other time. I reallly love cupcakes and have tried almost every cupcake place on Oahu.
The first time I came here, my Oreo cupcake was extremely dry. I threw away half of it. The second time, the boyfriend gave me a pack of 4. They weren’t super moist but they weren’t as dry as the first time. Not sure if it was because it was in the fridge all day so I wasn’t as critical or if they really were better quality.
Yesterday, the boyfriend and I were in the area so we decided to stop by. We got a Banana Chantilly cake slice. It was HUGE! It wasn’t your usual slice of cake, it was a square slice and took up the whole area and height of a square, plastic take out container. We were excited to try it but, to our disappointment, it was dry banana bread with chantilly frosting. As we were trying to enjoy it, (because it was $ 5.75 with tax, we were hungry, & we didn’t want to waste it) I got a huge chunk of salt in one of my bites! Yuck! After that we were pretty much done eating it. We ate about 2⁄3 of it.
After trying two different baked goods and not being impressed, I don’t think I’ll be coming back… :/

I really love this place! Great cupcakes and assorted pastries at affordable prices. I was able to order a different variety of cupcakes for my fantasy football party. They have so much flavors to choose from, the only down fall was selecting which ones I wanted. The staff was extremely friendly and kind. I will definitely comeback whenever I have another party or if I want a quick binge. I highly recommend this place: D

I had a bad experience trying to order for my daughter first birthday. I went to the shop but was told to call or email. I never got reply back to I called and they said they never got my email. So I tried to get more info on ordering but was told the decorator would contact me. Never got a call or email back so I decided not to come back even if it was near my house.
