Went for a salad, wasn’t greeted, girls just looked confused while they talked to each other. Asked if they had salad, they remarked, only a salad bar, I said ok. No waitress or waiter came over, so I just helped myself, about 20 minutes was asked if I needed anything while passing by, I asked for a drink, it came with no other contacts until I asked for the bill. Poorly run and managed. Too bad.

We are at Chuck’s and had a very good meal and great service. Our waiter, Shawn was friendly and quite attentive. All six of us said we would eat it again.

Worst meal I had all trip. I had ordered a steak and asked for it medium and received an extremely rare steak. The piece of meat that was given to me was multiple parts that seemed to be scrapped together, the waiter offered to get me a new one or throw it on the grill. Opting for a new dish entirely(which I almost never do) the next dish was put together in a much nicer fashion. The steak was still much to rare but I decided to eat it anyways because my girlfriend was tired of her watered down pasta sauce and was ready to leave. The waitress was nice and understanding of the situation but at the end of my meal I was expecting some sort of apology or discount. Neither were offered and I left disappointed and will never return even though we are time share owners at the resort. Take your money elsewhere even if it is a short walk away it will be worth it.

Very limited menu. Extremely over priced for what is on offer. Ambience is lacking. Staff not the most friendly.

The service is always good, rarely great. The ambience is great — open air, surrounded by a koi pond, adjacent to the beach. Great salad bar and outstanding steak and seafood.

Although the original Chuck’s Steakhouse downtown gained a following for good reason, this one is simply a tourist restaurant extension — nothing more. The best thing it has going for it is the fantastic view(especially at sunset) and ambiance. Service was blah at best and would never suffice in a restaurant that didn’t have a captive audience(Marriot tourists). Bartender did a bait and switch on us after we ordered a particular bottle of Pinot Noir. Food was fine, although unmemorable except for the roasted garlic mashed potatoes which may have been the best mashed potatoes I’ve ever tasted in my 58 years. They were so good that everyone at our table ordered their own extra side dish of them after tasting mine. Acceptable West Oahu high-end dinner if you’re a tourist, but it isn’t going to be memorialized on your lifetime list of top 100 restaurants.

This has always been our«go to» restaurant for a nice dinner while in KoOlina. The food this time was EXCELLENT, but the service by our primary server, Katrina, was awful. Our cocktail server, Alexis, did an awesome job and answered questions about the menu and actually took our order. It took 50 minutes after ordering for our meal to arrive with no concern on the part of our server. Shawn, who is excellent, he has helped us for many years, actually went back and retrieved our dinners. The meal was great, as were Alexis, Shawn and the bus boy. We will go back, but making sure to request a proper server The service by the primary server was bad and I initially gave them a one, but that is not fair to the other staff and the quality of the food Good service would have gotten them a four and lowered my blood pressure

Great service from Bianca, but the ribeye was average and the sides weren’t good at all. The ahi tuna poke wasn’t as fresh as Longboards which is next door on the same property???

We walked in after a day of sight seeing in hiking clothes, dirty and windblown. The staff still treated us like we were royalty! The service was wonderful, fast and effecient. The food was also very good. I feel like we received the perfect amount of food for the money. It was well presented and well prepared. We sat by the koi pond and had zebra doves visit the table! Seemed like a charming outdoor setting!

While it is true that the menu is limited, the food is perfectly presented. The salad bar is simple, and usually only one soup is offered. However, when my wife and I went for our anniversary, they had lobster bisque. I am from New England and I have never had such an amazing lobster bisque! I also had a steak, and it was wonderfully juicy and tender. Add the good food to the beautiful views and you have a great chance at a wonderful evening.

Oh man, feels like being back in the 80’s…but in a bad way. Menu is blah, salad bar is meh. Staff is unenthusiastic and interactions are awkward and forced. The steak was cooked well. But the ambiance and over-priced items = no bueno. Just go to the market and buy steak and grill it on the grill… it will be cheaper and tastier and you will have a more enjoyable experience.

Chucks was the biggest disappointment and the worst meal we had our entire trip. I have never been to a steakhouse ever that doesn’t have air conditioning or a fan of some sort. Even though we had a 730 reservation the temperature was in the 80s and very humid. We were seated in a back corner indoors. I thought I’d try the pasta because I was avoiding meat and the combination of garlic and pesto sounded like it would be great. Not so, the pasta was very bland and dry. I thought it could be salvaged with some crushed red pepper but Chuck’s doesn’t offer it. I was brought a cup of Parmesan but that just added to the dryness. The salad bar didn’t offer many options but the menu says it likes to keep things«simple» the«chilled plates» we’re fresh out of the dryer and very hot. The lettuce seemed wilted and they offered only one soup. My friends wife ordered a steak«medium» but ended up getting a rare steak. The server offered to «put it back on the grill». Unfortunately she became sick as we were leaving the restaurant and made a run for the restrooms to the right as you exit. The people in our group that ordered seafood were satisfied with it. My beer was warmer than usual but that may have been because the restaurant was so warm. The entire restaurant was empty inside and I saw one party on the patio that was a red flag. If you want a nice dinner I’d avoid Chuck’s especially if you want to get dressed up.

Beeeeeeeauuuuuutiful setting in which to enjoy dinner and watch the sunset! The filet was cooked PRECISELY to what medium-rare should be: a nice, warm red center. Accompanied by succulent grilled scallops and a loaded baked potato. Perfect dining right at the Marriott Vacation Club.

We were rudely greeted by the hostess and practically sat ourselves. The three stars were made up by our very helpful waiter and waitress. It was our first time at chucks, food is good and view is immaculate! Nothing that we haven’t had before, if you ask me they’re over priced but expected at a resort restaurant! Unsure if we’d be back!

A review for the meal that wasn’t. What’s that? Yes, the meal that wasn’t. One star. Was looking forward to coming here again as we had a pretty good dinner here in December. My wife really enjoyed her fish(mongchong), son thought his rack of lamb was delicious and my steak was so so. I do a steak better at home, so I should have skipped the beef and gone with the fish. Lesson learned. Anyway, fast forward five months… Still, thinking we’d give Chucks another shot, we came at 5pm last night and walked up to a nearly empty restaurant. A couple patrons at the bar and maybe two parties seated. Nobody in line ahead of us or behind us. The hostess greeted us with a smile and asked if we had a reservation. No, we do not. «Oh, I’m sorry. Due to the weather(it had rained most of the day) we aren’t taking any walk ins tonight.» What? The place is practically empty! There is nobody in line ahead of us or behind us. We are a party of two and it’s now 5:05. You opened 20 mins ago. We were stunned. No walk ins? And nobody is there? And it’s still happy hour? Most people aren’t even off the beach or out of the pool. I sniffed my pits… nope. Isn’t me. I showered 30 mins ago. My wife and I walked our butts down to Monkey Pod, were seated before 6, and gladly handed over a Ben Franklin after a delicious dinner, drinks and appetizer. Chucks loss, Monkey Pod’s gain. We might try Chucks again, but after last night’s treatment it will be awhile.

Wife and I are visiting Hawaii for the first time in about 10 years, so we wanted one«nice» night out for drinks and dinner. Chuck’s didn’t disappoint! Before dinner started, we went to the Longboard Bar for a starter drink. Our bartender, David was knowledgeable and fixed a couple of really good, REALLYSTRONG island specials. He even threw in a sample of their piña colada that could pose for jet fuel! We were seated for dinner in a nice location and our server Sean went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we wanted. We made our reservation using Open Table and everything went off without a hitch. Food was excellent! I had a ribeye and it was prepared very well. Wife ordered their signature pasta dish which was also very nice. Salad bar and soup station were terrific, as well. This is NOT a Morton’s or Ruth’s Chris, nor do they purport to be. And that’s not what we were looking for, either! If you read«Chuck’s Story» that is on every table, you can learn about how he chose to deliver good food in a less formal setting. The restaurant does that very, very well! We would go back, and would recommend the restaurant highly! A few reviewers commented negatively about the service, but that was NOT our experience! Everyone we encountered was friendly, attentive, and contributed to a most enjoyable evening!

Better than expected, based on reviews on Unilocal. If I could, I would give it 3.5 stars. Had the seafood combo — OUTSTANDING Mahi Mahi — FIVESTARS there! Grilled shrimp was quite good, crab leg decent, and scallops just so-so. My wife had the steak & scallops — loved her filet — cooked perfectly to her taste — but, like mine, her scallops were sorta meh. Both of us had asked for REALLY bronzed, and I’m sure they tried in the kitchen, but all of our scallops were sorta mushy. Nice atmosphere. Pretty average salad bar — dominated by iceberg lettuce. In fairness, they did have another bowl of spring mix lettuce, but not much of it, and fairly ordinary salad veggies and macaroni salad. The bean soup was quite savory, however. So, on balance a solid 3.5 stars.

I’ve been coming to Chuck’s for the last 5 or 6 years only for their Happy Hour. Pros: Their $ 5 Mai Tai’s are some of the best around and they have friendly bartenders and staff. Cons: NOMORELATENIGHTHAPPYHOUR! There used to be a second happy hour from 9:00pm to closing which they recently went away with. I used to be able to get my cheap and strong Mai Tai’s as a night cap. On my last trip, I opted for a Hawaiian version of a Long Island which was made with pineapple juice instead of Coke. Mixology at its best. Highly recommended for any time that’s not happy hour.
