BIEA II Zipline specializes in Guided Tours in North Kohala on the Best zipline course on the Island of Hawaii. Our course consist of 8 exhilarating Zipline Runs, and a 200 ft suspension bridge over a beautiful fern grotto. Safety first is our #1 practice. Our Aloha spirited guides are very knowledgable and provides personalized service at all times. The adventure gives spectacular views of the Kohala Mountains, Maui, Gulches and the Pacific Ocean. Towards the end of the tour your given a break time at the «Mango Hut» and is served fruit kabobs, banana cake, trail mix, fresh Macadamia nuts to crack, Aloha Maid juice and water. One of the highlights of this adventure takes you zipping right out of the «Mango Hut» soaring over the beautiful Waianaia gulch. BIEA II gives an experience of a life time and teaches you the true way of living Aloha.

History

Established in 2008.

Big Island Eco Adventures has been operating since December 15, 2008. We opened our company with a tiny trailer, thirteen employees, and four daily tours, proudly working out of Hala’ula in North Kohala for nearly a year. As the months went by, our company rapidly grew to accommodate the high demand for more. In October 2009, BIEA was blessed to move to Hawi Town in North Kohala, where we initially ran tours from our trailer located behind Luke’s Place Restaurant. Six months later, BIEA partnered with Luke’s Place Restaurant & the Kohala Village Inn… becoming BIEA II! We now offer a variety of package deals, which include the restaurant, hotel and zipline. Today, we operate with over eighty employees, running thirteen tours a day, seven days a week. BIEA II is proud to say that due to hard work, dedication and love, our company has become a success, and has made ziplining one of the premier adventures on the Island of Hawai’i.

OUT IF BUSINESS!!! After reading many Unilocal reviews, we thought that this was the place to be. However, upon arrival we found that the business had closed and not made any notification on their Internet. We wasted a day planning a round trip it was never to be, and drove 2 hours round trip. What a waste of a day!

The guides were really fun, and the whole experience from start to finish flowed seamlessly. As far as ziplining goes, it probably wasn’t my favorite one. I haven’t tried Skyline in Hilo, but I’d like to. I like to get high up among the trees (I guess I’m an adrenaline junky), and but we probably got no more than 40 feet in the air. The last zipline was really fast, really fun. We went on a cloudy day, which obstructed the view, but I bet on a clear day the views would be amazing.

What a great adventure. Our group ranged from a 72 year old Granpa to two 13 year old boys and everyone came away with big smiles and fun stroies to tell. Our guides Curtis and Jessica were excellent hosts. They are funny, knowledgable, professional and truely contributed to the success of our tour. We look foreward to returning next year to enjoy the four new zips that will expand the tour.

Fantastic fun on this zipline experience. Curtis and Jessica our guides were great — super friendly, funny, and provided a plethora of knowledge about the local flora. It started off with a small zipline ride and then a hooked-​in walk across a suspension bridge to get acclimated. Then off you go. By the end we were running and jumping off the platform or pushing off. Wonderful experience, my husband and I will be coming back on our next trip to the Big Island.

So. Much. Fun. If you enjoy ziplining (or are looking to try ziplining for the first time), then this zip experience will blow your mind. We had a fantastic time.

First time to do zip line. Had a blast! The guides were very helpful informing us about how to stay safe, which zip line we can retrieve dropped items from (eg camera), etc. They had zip line that was quarter of a mile long, zip line where we can launch off running from a platform, etc. Very fun stuff. In between zips the guides kept us entertained with interesting factoids, opportunity to taste fresh lilikoi and mac nuts. Great entertainment!

Stellar experience. We are a family of 5 and had the time of our lives. So excited that we chose to spend the money on this fun excursion. Every visit we choose one thing big to do, last time it was ATV riding and this time ziplining. It was so much fun, our guides made us feel super safe and were very interesting to talk to as well. Hoping to do it again when we go back.

Amazing group! All of the people there were incredibly competent, helpful, and kind. My mom wanted to go Zip-​lining. This was her first time and the guides were great. She is 78 years old; they helped her step onto the platforms and into the ATV. They knew what they were doing and OUR safety came first at all times. Extremely friendly people and an extremely fun event!

We had a blast. Our group was 11 people, and we moved at a good pace through the course — fast enough that you never really felt like you were waiting, slow enough that you got to savor each ride. Our guides were really great, too — they were funny, easygoing, and showed us the plants and scenery along the way.
PS: They’re working on 4 new lines (as of July 2013) to make it a total of 12 once they’re complete. Not sure when that’d be finished, but if it’s summer 2014, take a look — they’re probably done!

I’m so glad we found this business via Unilocal.Great tour guides and unparalleled scenery. I will remember this adventure fondly when I think of my vacation. I am somewhat uncomfortable with heights but was totally at ease here.
Would have been 5 stars except they called the night before and said that since our party of two were the only people scheduled for the 10am run, they needed to move is to the 11am one. This group was really large (8 plus two guides), so it took three hours to get everyone through. I would have preferred a smaller and faster group.

Zipplining with Big Island was one of the best experiences on our trip. Since my husband weighs 260, (10lbs over the limit), I took this trip with my sister, who lives in HI
After being introduced to our guides, we pile into an all-​terrain vehicle for a trip up the mountain. Adam was one of our guides, and unfortunately I cant remember the other young man’s name, but both guys were fun, informative, and made us feel completely safe.
Our guides were fantastic, and pointed out a lot of the flora, noting introduced species and commenting on their effects on the native varieties. We get to sample fresh guava, strawberry guava (an invasive species, dangerous to native flora), and passion fruit, called lilikoi in Hawaiian. We also saw cinnamon trees, with the cinnamon bark peeling away. Very cool!
After an instruction, we get to try a «trial» zipline, which is fairly short and slow. It really puts you at ease. Then you cross a bridge over an amazing gorge with a waterfall. The bridge seems rickety, but it is quite safe, and your safety gear secures you from possible falls.
There are a total of 8 ziplines, in increasing speed and length, over gorgeous terrain. We also walked through a macadamia nut farm, and learned a bit about the history. About mid-​way through we take an hour or so break at the mango hut, a gigantic tree house that we zipline out of. Snacks and drinks are available, and the guides kept us entertained with stories of life in HI. Surfing, boating, fishing, great white sharks, etc. We were there at the right time of year to get fresh mac (macadamia) nuts, which we cracked with a press-​type item on the edge of the tables.
I can’t imagine that any other zipline experience could compare to the one at Eco Adventures.

My hubby and I had the most incredible day ziplining with BIEA! Our guides were patient, informative, and generally just a blast to spend the day with! Definitely employ top-​notch people, no bored or unprofessional people here… our guides showed all us first timers exactly how to be safe and have a great time, and they love Hawaii we had so much fun laughing and talking with them!
We loved being out in nature’s beauty, learning about the property we were on (Campbell’s Soup heir Macadamia nut groves!), picking guava and eating mac nuts and smelling cinnamon bark.
Don’t bother shopping around, these guys are the best!!!

Awesome guides, tons of fun! 8 ziplines and they’re still building more to a total of 12 ziplines by next year. At the 6th zipline, it’s over a cliff and they’ve built a tree house for a cute little snack break. Just gorgeous.

What a rush!
I am not a fan of heights but even I had a great time on this zipline tour! Our guides were a ton of fun! They recognized that I was nervous and managed to get me to relax and enjoy the experience. By the 3rd of our 8 ziplines, I had even stopped riding with my eyes closed! We did 8 lines in all plus there was a wicked suspension bridge stretching past a waterfall, The course is on a Macadamia Nut Farm just outside Hawi.
Groups take a break for snacks after the 6th line. You’ll enjoy Hawaiian snacks in a structure that looks like the coolest tree house I’ve seen in some time!
While your tour will be mostly filled with adrenaline, there will also be some history to go with it. Our guides were born and raised on the island. They educated us on Macadamia nuts, we picked and tried lilikoi, a passion fruit.
All in all it was great time. At the end of it, I was pretty proud of myself for completing the course without having a meltdown. Facing down a fear of heights is an accomplishment! Thanks Big Island Eco Adventures!
Oh and did I mention that Cameron Diaz zipped with this company in the group before ours? Perhaps she’s preparing for another action flick! (Please God, not Bad Teacher 2!!!)

Our first time doing a zip line and it was awesome! Our guides, Brandon and Shane, grew up right in Hawi and know a lot about the area. They were sure that everyone had fun and that we were safe. What a blast!
8 zip lines, plus a suspension bridge over a waterfall. There’s a stop after the 6th zip for snacks, including macadamia nuts basically right off the tree. Plus we picked and ate wild guava.
We’ll definitely do this again on our next trip to Hawaii.

Exactly what I hoped it would be. Our guides (Tim and Matthew) were really funny and made the experience really fun. They knew a lot about the region and the history there, which was interesting to hear about on the drive to and from the zip. My mom asked them if there were wild boars or any other wild animals to watch out for. They said no, but later we were walking through the woods and suddenly we heard a snorting sound and saw a bush moving, we started screaming and running, then out jumped our guide Tim who was playing a trick on us! It was hysterical, I wish we had gotten a video of it. He was pretty convincing.
The zips were awesome. They start you out small and then you work your way up. I actually wasn’t scared at all to do the 8th zip. I felt really safe.
It’s good for all ages too. My mom is 61 and was scared but had a blast. They said they had a 6 year old girl the previous day who had no fear.

First time zip lining and I loved it! The staff were really friendly and the courses were great! It is a little expensive but worth it for the views you get and the great zip line course!
