Great surf shop. I always stop by here when I’m on Kauai. This is a local shop. With Tamba gear. My son loves this place too. They are always good with kids as well here. They have cool kids surf clothes. A Great way to buy local, as opposed to going to chain surf shops. Cool shirts, hats and stickers. They also have a great selection of surf boards. As well as surfboard rentals. So far it’s always been a positive experience.

I found this store in 2006 on my first trip to Kauai, when it was the size of a closet. WOW I was blown away! All I needed was a bar of wax, but after talking with the young man there I knew I needed more, so I order to promote this shop I bought a bunch of hats, and t-shirts to bring home. The young man who helped me out was the epitome of The Hawaiian spirit. Because of him I make sure to drop in on every trip. This is a real surf shop! Trust me I’ve been surfing my whole life I’ve seen a few. Good to see you guys have opened a shop on Oahu, see you there this winter.

My husband rented a surfboard for a week from Tamba, the boards are Tamba brand boards. He was told at the time of rental that he can come in and switch the board as much as he liked!!! To play with the waves, he swapped a short board for a long board with no wait time and no problems. The women who worked the shop was extremely sweet and knowledgable, she threw in 3 bars of Tamba and sticky bumps wax and base :). The board return was painless. The shop is friendly and easy to find. Returned the board to «Meina» ex pro surfer, so if tips are needed I’m sure this shop has you covered!

Wow! What an amazing shop with amazing people! Go here for the best customer service in the U.S. I would say more, but I like to keep my reviews short & to the point… Tamba does not disappoint! *yelp wants longer reviews… Ain’t nobody got time for that :) So here are a couple of sentences to please the people of Unilocal who think that people need to keep reading reviews instead of getting on with their lives

We rented two boards from Tamba for over a week and went back a couple of times while we were there. Tessa was there every time and always super friendly and full of great info about local surf spots. The boards were used and repaired, but did the job and we were happy with them. When we turned everything in Tessa was there once again smiling and cheery and we chatted with her a bit. She gave us a discount just to be nice! She also gave us a bunch of cool stickers and just made a perfect end to our surf experience in Kauai. Completely recommend Tamba and ask for Tessa!

Was just in the shop with my little girls and the nice lady working that day was awesome(wish I would have asked her name) she made us feel very welcome and gave the girls some stickers. I’ve already decided I’m going to go back and buy more stuff just because of the service and how cool and inviting the store was. It’s place like this that make kauai so awesome. Truly a great experience. Highly recommended to get in there and buy some gear! Thanks again Tamba, Mark and family

Had a good experience with a surfboard rental here. Came in one morning to rent a surfboard, they didn’t have many left due to the holidays but I was still able to get a long shortboard that was the perfect size for me. The guy that was working the shop was very nice, and directed me to the closest surf spot, which was at Kealia Beach 1.5 miles up the road. It was a 35min walk with the board. The board surfed well, and I caught a bunch of waves. Brought it back, everything was fine. At the time this review is written, the shop charges $ 25/day, which is average around the island and not too expensive.

Weekly board rental is a great deal. I was visiting Kauai for a week and wanted to rent a real board, something other than the epoxy NSPs that everyone else on the island rents. I found a 9’6″ at Tamba for $ 90/week. The board had a lightweight glass job so the deck had pressure dings everywhere and obviously had undergone extensive ding repair in many spots. But it was watertight. More importantly, it did not look like a rental. The board worked great and surprisingly turned out to be a good noserider. The only snafu was the leash which broke at the cuff swivel. The board would have been washed up on the rocks had it not been for a friendly haole who snagged it just in time. When I brought the board back to Tamba the Hottie behind the counter insisted that the rental was«no charge» because of the broken leash. She was very apologetic and gave me a couple free stickers. I was not expecting such great customer service and it made my day.

On the surface all was fine. Easy in and out. Grabbed two surfboards for the afternoon and we were set. My buddy and I hadn’t surfed since high school so you can imagine we’re not exactly going nuts out in the waves. What we didn’t notice was that one of the boards had extensive repair work done across the entire middle. Completely different color fiberglass, etc. Long story short, after a couple of hours I think I noticed a tiny crack, I didn’t think anything of it. I’m about 175 pounds and was in 2 foot waves. Within about 30 minutes the tiny crack expands to a complete break across the deck. Naturally I got out, strapped the board to the car, went home and came into the shop the next day. To add insult to injury, not only was the one day of surf ruined, and arguably dangerous if I was out in bigger surf, but the grief they gave us was inexcusable. Sure we signed a liability waiver. Yes you got us by the balls. But honestly, the fact that you made me pay for a board that was so obviously broken before is ridiculous. Not just the rental rate, but the repairs as well. I’m sure if we had been given decent boards this would have been a five star review. Everything was business as usual, except for the part where I was rented a busted surf board.

Tamba is a local surf brand that has some sick shirts, hats and boards. The store itself is pretty small, but they got a little bit of everything to please everyone. My family and I picked up a hat, couple shirts and a tank. The prices aren’t ridiculously expensive either. The price is comparable to skate brands back on the mainland. I’m in love with my snapback that I got from here! I would definitely be back the next time I come to Kauai!

Love this little shop. It was a tiny little store when I was in high school, but it’s gotten bigger and nicer with lots of great clothes, hats, gear and boards. I stop in when I’m home and have gotten my husband hooked on this place. He thinks it’s the coolest little shop.

Tamba is a great local surf shop. I lost my trailing fin(PG-7’s) and the employee helped me look through the fin bucket to find one. Even though we couldn’t find a match, I appreciated the time he took to look. Ended up purchasing a pair from the shop that worked a bit better for my surf style anyway. Shop local kooks.
