Specialties

Pagoda is full of antiques, vintage Hawaiiana, vintage jewelry and home décor. We also carry gift lines (candles, lotions, cards etc.) by Michel Design, Punch Studio, Blue Q, and Two’s Company among others. We add new items several times a week, so no matter how often you stop by, it will always be a treasure hunt. We welcome any questions you might have about putting a room, or a house together. Bring in your paint chips, show us some photos ! Pagoda also offers furniture painting, refinishing and restoration by a master craftsman.

History

Established in 2011.

Pagoda is situated in a hundred year old Hawaiian plantation house under a small grove of lychee trees. It is a sister store to Bambulei that features island clothing and collectables.

Business Owner

Liane and Brad Carter, the owners of Pagoda have lived on Kauai for over thirty years. For the last twenty of those years Liane has become a self taught dealer of antiques, collectibles and Hawaiiana, selling her wares at the antiques shows held in Honolulu, and also out of her historical Grove Farm home. Liane also has a love of interior design, and has put together several beautiful homes here on Kauai.

We visit Kauai every year on vacation and I always look forward to spending a bit of time with Liane and exploring her cute little shop full of treasures. Prices are very reasonable given the high quality and near-​mint condition of the entire vintage inventory. Liane’s eye for design is unique and the interesting home décor items we purchase every year are on prominent display in our home. We also value the personal recommendations for sightseeing, dining and other fun excursions. I’ve visited 3 Hawaiian islands on separate occasions and Pagoda is by far the best vintage shop in the state. Close to Lihue airport and Kapaa town.

Stumbled into this cozy antique store while driving to Lihue for work. At first glance, it’s hard to tell they are even an antique store because everything is so clean and neat.
They have such a great range of item selection, sure to add to any collection. We were in search of traditional Chinese tea pots with matching tea cups. Liane was so helpful in showing us anything she thought may suite our needs. It was reassuring that she was knowledgeable in the history of her pieces and a bit about the background of Chinese history. We left with two beautiful tea pots and a total of 8 tea cups!
Besides kitchenware, her store stocks old postcards, buttons, purses, quilts, mirrors, side tables, glass orbs you name it! Definitely not a thrift store, so don’t expect garage sale prices!

What a happy find today on our outing! I own a Vintage store in Tacoma, WA, and I was looking & looking for some vintage/​antiques here on Kauai! So glad I came across this cute shop!
I found some great stuff for myself… and for my shop! I am super happy to take my finds home and start playing with them!
The owner is a lovely gal, and we had such a nice talk! So helpful and nice — I look forward to touching base with her from time to time about antiques! She’s very knowledgeable… and very willing to share her knowledge with others!
Cute shop — great design choices! I’m in love with the ceiling full of umbrellas — WOW!!!

I love this store, everything about it. The owner is very friendly, personable, and very knowledgeable about Hawaiiana. She has a definite eye for unique items. Also pays close attention and is helpful in showing what you might like yet not pushy or over selling. Prices are great! She does all the hard work, goes out and finds the best things and displays them in a delightful setting, so pleasing to the eye. Great for gifts to take back home, or just as fine for locals to find just the right piece of furniture. Check back frequently, things go real fast! This shop is a real gem, I almost want to keep it a secret!

Loved this place — super cute. The owner has an obvious eye for design and you’ll find some great local options for a more unique gift than what you’ll find in the mass-​produced Hilo Hattie-​type places. Definitely on the pricey side but a great option if you’re looking for something special from the island. We wound up buying a couple of these beautiful green glasses that were made by a local artist who takes Perrier bottles, cuts and smooths the tops then sand-​blasts images into the front. Very cool and it felt great to support a local artist.
Great little boutique option for authentic Hawaiiana. Owner was super sweet, too! Big mahalo!

What a truly charming little gem of a store. And there’s not much around these parts if you’re looking for a really unique gift for someone back home or a little something for yourself. Not the same old stuff you see in all the other stores on the island. The new location is fabulous and easier to find. I will be back every time I come to the island

What a great find! Hawaiiana, antiques, beautiful gifts, fun stuff and even furniture– a needed addition to the Kauai shopping scene. Stock turns over often so there’s always something new to see. When I need a gift, they’ve always got something that’s just right. Luvs it!

I love this store. It’s filled with vintage Hawaiiana and great mid century antique finds. Exactly what we were looking for in Kauai. Furniture, wall hangings, and other home items are what this store offers.
I don’t know why they don’t advertise more. I get the feeling that people in Kauai are trying to keep the island sort of remote. But they were very friendly and lovely to us.
