Kapaa Beach Shop

Had a blast with our bikes from Kapaa Beach Shop! Great 3 speed cruisers, perfect for the coastal trail and for tooling about kapaa town. Steve provided us with baskets, locks and great info for both biking and snorkeling, including very good info about changing weather and options for both snorkling and watching surfers. Great deal, $ 10 a day for a bike, wow, best deal for fun. If you do one thing besides swim here, rent bikes from Steve and explore Kapaa and the coastal trail! If you start early enough you can grab both lunch and happy hour by bike and be back by 6!!!

$ 10 to rent a nice 3-​speed beach cruiser for the day with a bike lock. They tossed in baskets as well.
There is plenty of parking near the public pool and park off of Kou St… Walk past the coconut cruisers and Chicken in a Barrel. The location is near the center of the 5-​mile long beach ped/​bike path. This has some great views of the coconut coast.
They were really friendly. Check in and out was fast and painless.

Got there right after they opened. Real nice guy gave us the run down on the trail. We rode around on the trail taking in the sights for a couple hours. Can’t beat the price or location

Best possible friendly service from folks who do the right thing. They don’t have big advertising campaigns like some of the other shops… they just do business with 5 stars all the way. Look over some of the other reviews, and you’ll see what I mean.
I had an injured ankle so needed to get fins that would work for me, No problem at all, and the prices are very reasonable.
These are the kind of folks who deserve our support!

We love this place! The guy who runs this shop was really nice and helpful. And it didn’t hurt that he had the cheapest rental prices around for the same quality gear as the shops down the street. Next time you’re looking for snorkel gear, come here first and you won’t be disappointed, and say hi to his really sweet dog, Chaos. Next time we visit the island, we are coming here again.

My boyfriend and I decided to do a quick getaway to Kauai. The island is so beautiful and peaceful with so much to see. We got a lot done and was able to visit the main attractions. We had such a great time sight-​seeing and enjoying what Kauai had to offer, that we forgot the main reason why we wanted to visit Kauai — was to ride the bike path. We heard many talks about it and good reviews. To make that happen, we decided to extend our stay an extra day just to bike the new bike path in Kapaa. We were so glad we did. And even more glad we went with this company for our bike rentals.
The owners Mike and Janie are such sweethearts. They are genuinely kind people. Upon initial inquiring about their bikes, Mike said he can reserve the right size bike for my BF and I so no one rents it out.
After we checked out a few other places, we came back and decided to rent from them.
Mike introduced me to a brand new bike. He said pick whatever that you like old or new same price. He even threw in a basket for me after noticing I had a large bag with me.
We did the 10 miles bike path, and since we were done early we decide to cycle tour the town of Kapaa. Doing so made shopping so pleasant and convenient. We ended up spending and finding nice items at local shops and boutiques. We also were able to enjoy the popular shave ice from Ono Ono Shave Ice and able to park our bikes using a secure lock that Mike provided. We felt secured parking the bikes and was able to walk around snaking in and out of the nearby shops.
Janie was pleasant and friendly also, she even greeted us while walking her dog on the bike path saying «oohhhhh nice bikes, you guys having fun?» she knew those bikes were from her shop.
Overall, this was one of the best memories we took away from our staycation. We got to experience all this for just $ 10 for the day!

Central location and very easy to find in Kapa’a. The bikes (for Kauai Path) and the snorkel fins we rented were in tip top condition and not outrageously priced. The owners and their doggie were wonderful beings. Gave us the best advice about the beach where we could snorkel to see turtles, and WE DID!

The hotel I was staying out was out of rental bikes for the day. I had a problem. I had places I wanted to go to and things I wanted to do, all made much easier with a bicycle. The young lady at the hotel desk told me to call «Janie or Mike» at the Kapaa Beach Shop, and maybe they would drop off a bike at the hotel for me to rent. I made the phone call and spoke to an extremely friendly Janie who said tha she would be able to drop off a bike for me to rent. No more than 15 minutes later Janie and Mike stopped by the Hotel with a bike. Frankly I was stunned that this busy couple (owners) would take the time, in the middle of their work day, to drive a single bike for a random first time customer who was late making a request for a bike. For what it is worth the Kapaa Bike Shop has won this customer for life. Why in the world would I go anywhere else for my; bike rentals, dive and snorkel gear, beach apparel and … spear fishing needs (all off their business cards that I intend to pass out). Take your business to these folks as they hit the «customer service» home run out of the park with me!

You can rent snorkel gear for up to 10 days for only $ 15 total. They’re so friendly and knowledgeable and will help you find snorkel spots. Even on the phone they were really awesome. I highly recommend it! We were in and out of there super fast when we went in to get our snorkel stuff

Mike is great. My buddy and I wanted to dive tunnels beach. The gear was in good shape, he walked us through the site with a strategy on parking, how to get out to the reef and around. His prices were quite a deal, it was a good time thanks to helping us know what we were going to and how to handle it.
Highly recommended.

We rented snorkel gear, Tommy Bahama Beach Chairs, and a TB beach umbrella for the week and could not have been happier with the prices, the customer service, and the hospitality that they showed us. In fact, I found myself just wanting to stop by to shoot the breeze and get their opinions on our next snorkel spot. Today I took my daughter to Tunnels beach and it was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had as a dad. And because we stopped by Kapaa Beach Shop yesterday, we knew exactly where to go to have fun and see a ton of fish, all while keeping my little girl safe. Skip the other rental shops and come here for true Aloha spirit. My only complaint is the proliferation of Oregon Ducks paraphernalia. Go Huskies!

we came here on a Sunday morning around 8:30 after breakfast in Kapa’a. Bike (cruiser) rentals for the whole day are $ 10. We took them down the coast and stopped at Kealia beach on the way back for a swim. There is a small bike rack next to the bathrooms at the beach so make sure to bring your beach towels and swim suits! the far left of the beach is a calmer section for swimming.

My wife and I were looking for a place to rent snorkel gear that wasn’t Snorkel Bob’s (or any of the other chain stores) — and picked this place based on the Unilocal!reviews.
Mike (the owner) got our gear together– then recommended five or six places to snorkel based on the weather they were having… and I can’t tell you how valuable that was.
Hawaii is beautiful. It’s wild and it’s amazing. It will also kill you if you don’t know what you are doing… so having a local who had assessed the conditions and told us where to go based on what we wanted to see and where the visibility would be best was invaluable.

Worked with Mike and he helped us pick out a couple cruisers to ride the bike path which is directly behind the shop. We only ended up doing about an hour (possibly slightly over) and he gave us the hour rate of $ 10 for 2 bikes and a lock! The bike path has really nice views and a nice breeze from the ocean. We drove 45 mins to get here and found it worth the time, something fun and scenic to do. Plenty of places to stop along the way and enjoy the beautiful ocean views and snag some great pics.

We were referred to this shop by another couple staying at our hotel. Last year in Maui we rented snorkel gear from Bob’s … or whatever that chain is called. Their coupon said $ 9 for the week but that was for terrible year and once upgraded it was quite a bit more. This place was $ 15 for the week per set and they were quality sets! They also rent umbrellas which was great for my fair mainland skin ;)
The owner was VERY informative on areas to snorkel on the island & I really loved that we were supporting a local 1 man business. I fully intend to visit Kauai and this business again. Highly recommend for a great experience!

My husband and I spent the week in Kapaa last week and after looking at a couple other shops who wanted to charge outrageous prices we luckily found Kapaa beach shop! We rented 2 boogie boards and 2 snorkel sets for the whole week for $ 62 bucks! The gear was comfortable and we even got to choose between 2 different kinds of fins. We got to snorkel everyday that we were there! Clean quality gear and great prices what more could you ask for!

Once again, Unilocal did not disappoint! This little gem made our honeymoon so much fun!
Mike was super helpful in getting us fitted for our snorkel gear and gave us a bottle of anti-​fog to go along with it. That is not it though: he sat with us and showed us a few places to go snorkeling on the north shore. We ended up hiking to one of the spots he suggested and saw two giant sea turtles and the beach was secluded and romantic.
When we returned our gear, we ended up renting bicycles to ride on the path behind his shop. The path runs along the shore for maybe eight miles. It was gorgeous!
The rental prices were pretty cheap, but it was the service that made us fans. Thanks Mike!
