Kakalina’s Bed and Breakfast

Other than being in literally «paradise», this Bed and Breakfast was misrepsented on the Travel Channel. The price was right however, I would have paid more for a better experience. There is also a $ 40/​per day cleaning fee. I’ve never heard of that but I suppose it can allow them to advertise a less expensive rate.
Positive — secluded and at the base of a beautiful luscious mountain range. Banana bread and view of the garden but not a garden to walk about and tour. Driveway at the backdoor and front door faced a steep hill.
Negative — On a main road and traffic loud all throughout the night. Bed was terribly uncomfortable. No hot water and no way to get it turned on… Cabinets were stocked with used and various hotel products, food products … some perishable and other were «left behind» condiments.
Misrepresentation — Breakfast was a banana, orange and apple and processed (bagged) bagel and yogurt. — certainly not exotic. Refrigerator was a little dirty. Walls were very thin and attached to another room. Bathroom was a little dirtier than I would have expected. Wouldn’t feel comfortable taking a «bath» after a full day of hiking and photography.
I left a day early with not hot water (it gets cold in Kauai at night) and there was no mention of a discount nor was there an apology at least from the owner. The «friend» who met me to give me the key left a msg to apologize but that was it!
