Delicious shave ice served with a smile by Aaron. Our friends told us about this place in a strip mall and they were right – it was delicious!

First time in Hawaii and this is the best shaved ice I’ve ever had, served by one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met all for only $ 3!!!

Not only is Aaron one of the most unassuming and warmest persons I’ve ever encountered, his shave ice is da most ono kine eva. His ice is super soft, his syrups that he creates (Melona), are bar none, the best. I’ve enjoyed a variety of shave ice, which are fine, but am a fan of high-​quality traditional style, and Hawaiian Blizzard never disappoints!

Such a nice man and good service for the kids… the ice is perfect and the flavors are good. Not too fancy like other places that add ice cream but it’s just right.

All of these 5 star reviews are well deserved! This is the perfect shave ice in my opinion. I got tigers blood with some cream on top. He even came over halfway through and added on some more cream. So nice! Prices were reasonable too. If he had a shirt available I would have bought it!

Hawaiian Blizzard is kind of hard to spot. It’s on a little cart in front of the left doors to Big Save Market. Not a ton of flavor options to choose from and they only accept cash.

Aaron’s shave ice is SO good! When I wasn’t sure what to order, he asked «tangy» or «mellow». Chose mellow which was vanilla and mango and he suggested a snow cap. Ooh, nice. It really hit the spot after hours in the gym, my husband said. Then Aaron sat with us and we shared stories. Nice to see a real down to earth businessman these days.

Great traditional-​style shave ice (i.e. sugary syrups, no fancy organic fruit and such) for a great price. Aaron is super friendly and easy to chat with, too.

Aaron has been at it for 34 years; this cart is a labor of love. He sells syrups to many of the other local vendors. Admittedly maybe not the very favorite shave ice I’ve tried (hey, it’s a matter of personal taste!) but delicious, incredible value ($ 3!) and the *very* best experience. Aaron gave candid opinions about which flavors go best together, which are better with our without snow caps, and gave me extra snow cap when he thought I was running low. :) Then he sat with us chatting for maybe 20 minutes about life on the island, his family, our lives… genuine and open, a total delight. This is the type of business I love to support.

The owner is super nice! We got watermelon and banana, and watermelon and grape. He pressured me to try a snow cap on my banana part, and it was delicious! It tasted like a banana split. They are a stand located next to the grocery store.

Ten stars!!! Aaron is THE master shave ice king of Kauai…33 years in business. This is THE BEST shave ice in the entire island. He makes all his syrups and supplies it to everyone.
We came 6 years ago on a local’s recommendation, missed him on a rainy day we were in Kapaa this trip, and we were happy to catch him on our last day. A perfect end to our family vacation.

So refreshing after a long hike! Excellent shaved ice. Try the passion orange guava! Great selection of flavors and perfect ice. The guy who made it was super nice and friendly as well! Even topped off our snow caps!

Be sure to check the hours before you star looking for it. It’s a cart located in a little strip mall. They supply the syrup for lots of other shaved ice places. The sour anything flavors were outstanding

Didn’t disappoint. I actually went back 3 days in a row. By far the best shaved ice in Kauai. And let me tell you, I know. I went to four different shaved ice stands in 2 days looking for the best in the island. The owner made my family and I feel at home and we had a nice conversation until new customers came. I will definitely come again when I visit Kauai.

Possibly the best shaved ice in Kauai. The homemade syrups set this place apart. The syrups have fruit essence that you can taste throughout the shaved ice. The place is located right next to the big save market. Look for the Hawaiian Blizzard sign above the small stand. Uncle Aaron is also super friendly and helpful on local places to visit and eat.

Uncle Aaron’s shave ice is a prominent memory from my childhood. For as long as I can remember, spotting «The Shave Ice Man!» outside of Big Save in Kapa’a always instantly meant I’d beg my mom to let me get one. The syrups are homemade, the $ 3 flat rate for however many flavors you want is unbeatable, and you can add a free snow cap (do it!). When I travel back to Kaua’i, Hawaiian Blizzard is the only place I prefer for my shave ice!

it’s been several years since i have had uncle aaron’s shave ice! finally had the opportunity to go this afternoon with my daughter, who is a shave ice connoisseur!
for $ 3, you can get a great sized shave ice with snow topping! my daughter decided to get vanilla, which is my personal favorite. the consistency of the shave ice here is just so fine. uncle aaron also makes his own syrups and topping. they are the perfect level of sweet.
lanna exclaimed, «this is the best shave ice on kauai!» after just a few bites. and to her surprise, uncle aaron offered her more milk topping half way through her shave ice. she was so stoked!

I have to say that Hawaiian Blizzard is probably the BEST — yes, THE BEST, shaved ice on Kauai. No, it’s not because of the amount of flavors they have or how extravagant the shop is. It is also not because of the portions you get there.
It is because. the friendliest man on this Earth works here. That’s right! The owner! We never got his name but from the previous Unilocal reviews, his name is Aaron.
Hawaiian Blizzard was the FIRST stop we made right after we landed in Kauai. We wanted some shaved ice and when we got there, we were a little puzzled. It was just a tiny cart! The price wasn’t so bad when we went. I believe it was $ 3 each? There was only once size. There weren’t a whole lot of flavors for you to choose from if you’re used to the bigger stands.
But I have to say, Aaron is super nice. The way he talks and the way he smiles, you can tell it’s really genuine. It’s so genuine to the point where I’m not used to it at all. I’m not saying that its is uncommon — well, maybe it is. Every day life can be so taxing on everyone and you meet so many different people in your life. I don’t know about you but a majority of people I tend to meet typically have ulterior motives. It’s a dog eat dog world out there but it’s good to know that when you’re on vacation, it’s not that way. and Aaron sure shows you that.
Aaron would offer us a snow cap for free on our shaved ice and would offer it to us again when we’re half-​way through as well.
Oh and another plus is… his ice is the smoothest of the ones I’ve tried on Kauai. It is really fine and not chunky at all :)
Definitely visit his stand when you’re on this island because I definitely will come back if I vacation in Kauai again.
