Great facility with 3 levels of workout areas(formerly a theater). The staff is friendly and helpful, location is nice for anyone who works in the Downtown area and it is rarely ever crowded except right after work(5−6PM). The main level has a small workout area typically used for personal training or cool down, the lower level is for classes and personal training and the upper level is the main area with most of the machines, treadmills, weights and a full basketball court. There are locker rooms for men and women, showers and a steam room in the locker rooms.

I love this YMCA. Instead of boozing my laid off days away in a deep depression, I’ve gotten into a nice little workout routine courtesy of this place. The Y is great because it’s convenient, clean, and has all the classes/amenities you could need while not being a meat-head gym on steroids where you feel like you signed your life and soul away in the contract. Downstairs is where classes are, upstairs has tons of free weights, weight machines, a big row of treadmills, a big row of ellipticals(both have personal TVs hooked up to them), some bike machines and a big basketball court at the end. The staff is incredibly nice and you only need to give a 30 day notice to end your membership. Joint household memberships are $ 81 and anyone can join your account, thus making it pretty cheap. AND! If you’re conveniently laid off like yours truly, you can get a $ 25 household membership for up to three months. I really appreciate this. All the classes I’ve tried are a great workout and not boring. I’ve tried spin(Beware if you have Kevin as an instructor: he is awesome and will KILL you), Body Blast and Yoga. You get a free physical assessment when you join to figure out what areas you need to focus on and target. Screw 24 Hour and it’s other mega-clusterfuck gym cohorts… love the Y.
