West Plaza Nails, Salon & Spa

Stopped in here without an appointment for a gel manicure. I was worked in the schedule within 10 minutes and given several gel options. I chose the powder/​dip OPI gel and the results were fantastic! I even got a shoulder/​neck massage with my manicure. I will definitely be going back.

This probably the best service for gel I’ve gotten in Kansas City. These ladies do an amazing job making sure your nails look their best. You will not leave there with untrimmed cuticles, blotchy color, or feeling disappointed in any way.
Also, while I was waiting for my gel to cure (?) I got a 10 minute back rub. It was amazing and I felt so relaxed. Having your hands look beautiful can really make you feel beautiful too. I will totally be looking into going to this place for other services. You can tell the ladies really care. Very sweet and nice. Walk-​ins welcome! :)

I stopped in today for a manicure pedicure as I’m here from out of town & was walking around the Plaza. I was very impressed as it was very clean and the employees were so nice and welcoming. They paid attention to detail and did an amazing job. The neck shoulder massage after I got my nails done was a slice of heaven. I will definitely come back here and would highly recommend going here.

First off — I’ve read this in some other reviews, but there doesn’t seem to be any commitment to their appointment times. We made an appointment for 4:30 and it was at least 30 minutes before anyone started our services.
I will start off by saying that the bulk of my pedicure was nice (the soak, cuticle care, exfoliation, callus smoothing, etc.) — I did ask for the Deluxe pedicure which includes more of a treatments and a massage, and that did not happen.
I also requested an ombré design for my toes, going from baby blue to royal blue, and with a Royals «KC» on my big toe. I was assured during the pedicure that they would definitely be able to do that. When it was time for the polish, no one seemed to know how to do the ombré design. Let me say that I also don’t know how to do the design aside from the sponge technique I’ve seen on Pinterest, but… I also don’t work at a nail salon.
Finally a girl started to work on my toes. I assumed she was chosen because she could do the design, but she ended up just giving me the baby blue polish with royal blue tips, and then loading me up on glitter. It looked like the work of a child. I kept trying to explain that it should «fade» and «blend», but there was a language barrier. I tried showing them pictures of what I wanted, but they were still confused. Finally a man came over and said, «Oh, ombré. We don’t have the tools for that». You don’t have a makeup sponge? To make matters worse, the «KC» was terrible and the baseball stitching looked more like something you’d find on a zombie. They attempted to fix things, but only made them worse. I am uploading a picture so you can see for yourself.
I was charged for the full pedicure PLUS an extra charge for the design…
If you’re getting a solid color, this is an OK place to go for a pedicure, but do not expect to get any design or any advanced techniques beyond a french manicure.

The manicure and pedicure were okay, but it took way too long. I was there for almost 2 hours (with no wait time) and ended up being late to go back to work. I was also told my nails were dry and I could go home but they still smudged.
Make sure you do not go here if you are in a hurry.

After being on my feet 40+ hrs a week, my feet needs alooooot of attention. Even worst when I don’t go in for a few months. I was told about this place (i like to change it up some times) and I’m pretty sure this will be my now go to place for peddies!

Moved to the area a year ago and have tried numerous nail salons. This one is far above all the rest. It has a very nice atmosphere, is clean and the pedicure was fabulous and VERY relaxing. Luke did a great job. This will be the place I go from now on. highly recommend!

Amazing value! I came here for a pedicure while visiting KC and was pleasantly surprised by the thorough work I received for even the lowest tier pedicure. I can’t imagine how amazing the higher tier service would be! This included the best foot and calf massage I have ever received during a pedicure (I’m a massage therapist and often find the massage part of a pedicure seriously lacking– and usually I’m paying much more!). Tom was fantastic– friendly, detailed, and efficient. Definitely recommend this business!!!

I’ve been a regular at West Plaza Nails for years. While they have become less of a just-​drop-​in salon and host more «regulars» these days, the quality of their services has remained consistent. Love the 60 min pedicure! Pleasant people!

I too am surprised that this place has received such great reviews. My manicure took an hour and 15 minutes! It has never taken someone that long to do gels for me. I didn’t get a hand massage, my cuticles are still a mess. I now understand why they give you a back massage at the end. My arms were shaking and sore for holding them up so long.
The manicure itself was $ 45 and was pretty sloppy. I had to go home and clean up the gel that was on my fingers after.
The place is also super dated and looks like the tools aren’t clean. I recommend give Plaza Nails a try over this place.

I’m so surprised this place has awesome reviews. I thought that the person who did my gel manicure was very rough, unfriendly, unprofessional, and rude. I also didn’t get a massage with my manicure, which I would expect given the price. I went to this place on a whim without knowing anything about it. I assumed that the prices would be similar to most other nail salons. The prices aren’t visible on the welcome desk or any wall so you can imagine my surprise when a gel manicure and a pedicure were 75 dollars. The poor service combined with the high price guarantee there won’t be a repeat visit here.

Despite calling to make an appointment thirty minutes in advance, I still had to wait forty minutes for a pedicure once I arrived. Once I finally sat down for my appointment, the water was freezing cold and after I complained, it was only warmed up to a lukewarm temperature.
During the massage portion of the pedicure, the technician barely rubbed my foot with one hand, and mostly chose to stare off at the wall, bored and uninterested. She then began to rake her nails down the center of my foot, which felt pretty damn awful, but she did do a good job when it came to painting my toenails.
I assume that this is the kind of nail salon where they offer you things to drink as I saw other customers with water bottles and wine glasses, but I can’t say for sure as I was never offered anything.
The nail technicians even made it a point to tell the woman next to me about how big her feet and toenails were. Do people really insult their customers like that? «OOh, look at how big your feet/​toes are!» What on Earth? Despite reading tons of glowing reviews, my experience here was a disappointment and made for a terrible first impression. This is what I waited forty minutes for? Doubt I’ll ever come back.

I found this place on Unilocal and decided to give it a try. I’m very big on sanitation so when she opened the sterilization pack to get my pedicure tools, I was impressed. I got a wonderful massage and great nail polish job! Their nail salon is beautifully decorated and very modern looking! And they have beautiful and comfortable pedicure chairs!

Amazing service, super clean and quiet. the personnel is very attentive.
I went here to fix the messup my girl did, and i am at a loss of words! Hansen is wonderful. He is a perfectionist, i can tell. i got a french shellac with him and he did such a fantrastic job. he even gave me a 3 minute back massage while i was drying my nails for the last time.
they also stand behind their works and ensured me that if anything goes wrong in the next two weeks i can come in and have them fix it.

I go here not for my nails, but to get my hair cut. Hai is great, he knows how to cut hair WITHOUT taking off more than you’d like and he is efficient and reasonably priced. West Plaza Nails is more than just nails! Parking can be difficult at peak hours though.

Wow! I went to West Plaza after reading their reviews, and I got the worst manicure I’ve ever received. My nails weren’t shaped well (mismatched round and square) and the polish was noticeably uneven. The technician seemed bored and uninterested. I should’ve intervened while she was working to voice a complaint, but I was holding out hope that the finished product would surprise me, and I’ve honestly never had anyone that sloppy before. I was a little baffled. So disappointed and so frustrated, as this was for a special event.

This place is just excellent. Fantastic pedicures and massages. I moved out of town about 6 months ago, and they still remembered me when I came in over thanksgiving weekend. Can’t say enough good things about this place.

Great mani/​pedi splurge when I was in town to celebrate NYE with friends. They had wonderful OPI colors and the service was thorough and professional. If I lived in KC this could easily become my go to spot.

I feel a special little connection to West Plaza Nails as the first time I went was the first week they opened, YEARS ago. I love seeing how much they have expanded and grown.
To this day, I haven’t had a better pedicure from nicer, sweeter staff. The salon is comfortable, classy, calming and the pedicures are great!
I recommended West Plaza to everyone in KC, and everyone agrees!
