The Crave Cafe

This place is closed! But tea and coffee are still being dispensed here: it’s called Javanaut.

this place used to be my fave spot in kansas city — -but from what i understand, they are closed down… i dont live in kansas city so can someone please verify? last time i tried to go there it was closed down. i liked the setup. it was just dirty enough to be a real coffeehouse. a smoky upstairs area.

Crave was an old house where patrons sat in the different rooms. I checked one out upstairs that was painted green with yellow green shapes sporadically interrupting the pattern. Although the room was cool, the patrons were quite annoying. There was a ridiculously loud, insecure girl in my room as well as six smokers (which is fine except when the ventilation is weak and i’m trying to do work). They eventually turned on a radio and played it full blast (which I think is a blatant disregard of coffeehouse courtesy). Later, some guy who makes my voice sound harmonious belted out crappy tunes on his guitar (apparently, he was trying to emulate Johnny Cash). Even his own friends were not encouraging him. Despite the good food and the interesting dcor, Crave Caf was an unfortunate bust.
