Plaza Animal Clinic

We moved to Kansas City from out-​of-​state with 7 dogs and finding a good veterinarian was a top priority. A friend recommended Plaza Animal Clinic and I decided to give them a try. After the first visit, I never considered going anywhere else. Having been involved in dog rescue in Los Angeles, I’d had experiences with dozens and dozens of clinics and veterinarians. Plaza Animal Clinic is heads above any of them. Reception is pleasant and helpful. The technicians are friendly and caring. Even the behind the scenes office staff is welcoming. No doubt the tone is set by Dr. Mountain whose calm demeanor is reassuring. I soon discovered Dr. Mountain to be exceptionally gifted with both animals and people. Her skills as a veterinarian are excellent. With their owners, she has the rare ability to offer compassion when appropriate without sugarcoating whatever news she has to report about a pet’s condition. I’ve returned to California and I miss Plaza Animal Clinic whenever I have to make a visit to a veterinarian. I know my animals got the best care possible during the 12 years we were fortunate enough to be with Dr. Mountain and Plaza Animal Clinic.

Reasonable prices, not too bad getting an appointment, very kind service, and laid back atmosphere. I’ve moved thirty minutes away but I may have a hard time giving up going to this clinic for my pet!

I had a great first-​time experience at this location today. I called early this morning and I was able to get an appointment made by 2:30 for my adult cat. The woman at the desk was incredibly friendly, kind, and efficient when it came to getting all of my paperwork handled and the information on my cat switched over into their system. We waited probably just a few minutes before my cat was taken back into the exam room, where they had 2 people handling her (one to check her body and the other to keep her calm). The vet was able to quickly diagnose the issue and tell me about my care options.
I would definitely recommend this location to anyone near the plaza looking for great animal care!

I love this vet clinic. I’m a new dog mother, and needless to say I’m a very nervous new dog mother. Every time I come in I have at least 4 or 5 other questions or concerns, and both Dr. Mountain and Dr. Wages-​Nichols are patient and answer all of my questions. They never treat me like the crazy dog mother I am! My dog has had several anal gland infections, and they are always very gentle with him and also offer a cold laser therapy treatment that is surprisingly inexpensive and effective. They have even occasionally waived office fees for me since I’m such a frequent flyer, which I greatly appreciate. All of the front desk staff, the techs, and the vets are exceptionally kind people. Although my dog does not enjoy coming, I always enjoy seeing everyone because they are so pleasant and genuinely seem to enjoy seeing my dog and me.

Plaza Animal Clinic is wonderful. I called at 8:00 in the morning because my cat was acting very strangely and they told me to bring him in. They checked him right in, Bonnie was very kind and friendly, and told me they would call me when he was ready. Dr. Wages-​Nichols called me before I even got home and he was ready to come home (thankfully!!) by 11:00. It was a frightening experience for me and for him and they handled it very professionally and with kindness.

Friendly and thorough. We brought our dog here over concerns with his teeth and gums. We appreciated the amount of time they spent with us to explain our options.

Absolutely wonderful! We have been to several vet clinics, and Plaza Animal is the best. Dr. Wages-​Nichols, along with the vet techs and the receptionist, know my dogs and I by name and are always so warm, welcoming, and friendly. Prices are reasonable, too. I would never hesitate to place my dogs in care of the folks at Plaza Animal.

I love this clinic. Their prices are fair, and it’s never difficult to make an appointment for a check up or get seen if my little fuzzy is ill. Two ladies I have dealt with in the front (Mary and Molly) have always been completely pleasant and lovely. Those two even make me feel like they are Markie’s aunts. We both feel great when they tell us Markie’s cute, especially knowing how many dogs and cats they see every day.
Dr. Mountain is great too. Understanding and kind. I’m a first time dog parent, so I get anxious that I’m missing something in her care, Dr. Mountain puts my mind at ease.
This office works with me, as a team, to keep my fuzzy baby happy and healthy.

Ever since he was a puppy, I had taken my dog to a different vet, but he had a few emergencies and my original vet could not see us right away so I took my dog to Plaza Animal Clinic since it was the next closes place to my home. On two occasions Dr. Mountain saw my dog with almost no notice and allowed me to drop him off at a time that was convenient for me. Everyone in the office was professional and courteous. Recently, my dog was diagnosed with a serious kidney condition. Dr. Mountain was instrumental in making the diagnosis. My dog needed to be hospitalized for a few days so I took him to the 24 emergency vet clinic here in town. Shortly after that I had to put my dog to sleep. Plaza Animal Clinic must have received the hospitalization information because they sent me a really nice card telling me they were sorry to hear about my dog and that they were thinking of us. This really touched my heart. I was about to send a card back to them, but I’m terrible with cards so I decided to share my experience on Unilocal instead. Dr. Mountain and her staff, and the handful of pups that help out at the front desk are wonderful beings. I would recommend Plaza Animal Clinic to anyone.

Dr. Mary Mountain is truly talented vet. with a kind heart and her staff is excellent. The first time I brought my cat to her was after he got hit by a car Thanksgiving Eve many years ago. She operated on him and checked on him throughout the night. Many years later our old cat has recently passed on. I got a signed card from Dr. Mary and then today I got a letter from the Veterinary College that she had made a donation in our cat’s memory. Very sweet, I truly appreciate the gesture and the Plaza Animal Clinic’s commitment to the care of animals.

Never knew this vet existed until my regular vet referred me here because they were booked up for several days. Needless to say, my wife and I (and Bailey our Lab) were really impressed. I especially liked the way that Dr. Mary Mountain interacted with our dog and us, making all feel comfortable. Price was also very reasonable (we had feared the worse about Bailey’s condition). And when they said that they would be sending our records back to our regular vet, I told them not to bother, because we had just found a new vet home for Bailey and Romeo (our Pug). Thanks to Mary and staff for a great (if you can call a visit to the vet great) experience.

Seriously, great service. One of my neighbors recommended them for my cat and I’ve was impressed with the quality and care since the first visit. They also do a great job of educating you about your pet in terms you can understand. I always feel comfortable asking any questions I have. They also don’t make you like a terrible pet owner if you maybe haven’t been the best pet owner in the world.
