Phoenix Theatres Legends 14

It’s time to update the header on this location. It is now the AMC Legends 14, as of Saturday December 12, 2015. Phoenix Theatres website lists it as closed, but it has just changed management. Showtimes available at
. Article in the Kansas City Star on Dec. 8^th, said the theater will remain open through a renovation scheduled for 2016. Maybe AMC will install their reclining seats. This has always been a pretty nice theater. Kansas City area patrons will have to keep us updated on the latest developments!

I will continue to ADORE this location but am worried about the takeover by AMC. The VIP section was wonderful. Drinks, food and no cellphones our mouthy kids! We just saw Mockingjay Pt II. Great experience!

first off, let me say that the way this theater is built is it’s best feature. I love the seats and the lighting. it’s very comfortable and the bathrooms are so clean. that being said, my issue is with the food and the VIP theater seating. My review is late, due to my having gone to this place to see «the butler» when it first came out. due to the service I recieved then, I have never returned and here is why.
on this day, this was first time going to VIP seating. I do feel the prices are a bit steep, but I thought it would be worth it. so when i saw the seating in VIP I was in love. the seats were comfortable… but the food was a major let down. I wanted a simple burger and fries and was told they didn’t have that. I was shown a menu of salads, a chicken wrap, a mini pizza and chicken fingers? what? and every time I asked the waitstaff a question, they acted like I was getting on their nerves. really? You would think for the price, they could serve better food and have more options to choose from. when people want to eat, they want to EAT!!! and it is your job to serve me… if you don’t wish to do that, there are other jobs. quit! the only saving grace was the seats, the drink and the bottomless popcorn, otherwise I would have left before the movie started.
due to this, I never came back. once I discovered amc fork and screen… I had to say goodbye to phoenix theaters… would I consider going back? I don’t know… their menu would have to endure a serious overhaul before I would go back…

Love this theater! We tried Olathe’s AMC Fork and Screen… horrible.
Legends 14 has consistently provided exceptional customer service and an outstanding theatrical experience.

The best we have in Lawrence is far from the best, so I often find myself attending this theatre in the Legends strip mall. Honestly, it’s pretty great. The seats are large and comfortable, the sound and picture are good, and there’s hardly a full house so seats are easy to find (although there really aren’t bad seats in the place). Of course the concessions are overpriced, but it’s a movie theatre.
I haven’t had a bad experience yet, and I don’t expect to! Decent place.

My brother invited us out to visit him in Kansas City, KS and he conveniently lives by the Legends plaza. When my brother offered to keep our daughter so the hubby and I could have a date night, we decided to go to the movies — something we cannot do too often if the rating is not PG. So off we went! It is hard to locate the theatre at night since the plaza is so big, so the hubby and I had to keep walking to the center of the plaza until we found it. There was a long line at the ticket booth but luckily no one paid attention to the computer kiosks that were available to the right of the entrance. We used the quick and easy computer kiosk and were on our way. This theatre offers wine, beer, and a few other concoctions for adults to sip on during their movie, along with the regular popcorn, slushy, drinks, candy, etc. This theatre was nice, new, and our theatre room was pretty big. The seats were comfortable but they did not recline. Sad face. I enjoyed our movie time and there were no crying babies or teenagers running around, which is always a plus. This was just a regular movie theatre experience, in a new theatre.

This is a great movie theater! Kind of pricey though on everything! Make sure you go matinée!!! A little bit crowded at night as well.

After visiting maybe 10 or more theaters in California and moving to Fort Leavenworth I have fell in love with this theater. Although in California they do have five dollar days which are Wednesday and Sundays. I’m hoping one day they will adopt that special as well. But besides that the prices aren’t bad, especially if your military.
The adult tickets are $ 10 I believe, and this is after matinée hours. Being that we are military, two adult tickets are $ 16 so I’m assuming it’s a discounted two dollars for each person.
I’ve been here twice within a month and I must say I find something new that I fell in love with both times. The rooms are fairly big and spacious. They have leather seats that you can lean back in and have comfortable armrest on the sides of them. The seats give that homie feel away from home. Yass thank you, it’s my favorite thing within the theater. My second visit I had to use the bathroom and I walked in and my mouth dropped. They have this lounge type of seating in the middle of the bathroom and the colors are so soothing and relaxing the shades of brown is amazing. I didn’t want to leave and I took pictures just like a so my husband what the inside looked like lol. Like look where I went to go potty lol.
The theater itself is really big I think too big for its own good but maybe I haven’t ventured around the whole place yet and I look forward to having cocktails here before a movie one day very soon.

Get the VIP seats if you are able. The slight increase in price is worth it. Service was good and the seats were very comfortable

We had a great time at the theater. Super clean restrooms and the lobby is nice and spacious. We had popcorn and hot dogs which were both fresh and hot. The only downside to the concessions other than the price is they do not have iced tea. The theater seats are large and comfy and the screen was huge Soundsystem was perfect

I’ll be honest, I’m not a big fan of going to a theater. I like to stretch out and push pause when I need to. The theater we were in was small and the seats were just okay. I think I’ve been spoiled with these nice reclining seats with a wait staff in other theaters. That being said, the price was good and it was a nice date night. From reading the other reviews (I should’ve done that first) there is a VIP room… that maybe something to check out next time I’m around that area!

Very nice theatre with incredibly comfortable seats. I also noticed that between the seats was a shelf that was perfect for putting my purse! No more hanging my purse on my knees or keeping it in my lap or, even worse, on the floor! I was very excited; I wish more theatres had this small feature!
We went to the matinée (movie started at 3:20), so our tickets were really cheap. As is expected, the confession stand was ridiculously expensive. I got a medium soda and a box of candy for just under $ 10. I’m visiting a friend in KC, though, so I was prepared to spend some money.
The atmosphere was wonderful though, and very clean. The women’s bathroom had a couch in the center and everything was well-​kept. Obviously can’t go into the men’s room, but I’m sure it’s comparable!
A great experience overall.

What a great movie experience!
Wednesday evening and the theater was relatively empty. Got our tickets quickly and the price was great for one adult and two kids. The teen at the ticket counter noticed the kids and priced accordingly without me having to mention it (nice touch!)
Concession stand attendant was pleasant and got the order right.
Bathrooms were clean!
Theater was enormous! Seating was very comfortable. Floors were tidy. The screen was massive. The sound was loud and clear.
My favorite part of the evening: watching an adorable couple in their 80s walk in together and sit in the front row of the upper section. … they were there to watch Mr Peabody and Sherman with each other. …no grandchildren. Super cute!
Definitely going back to this theater!

I came here for an afternoon movie on a Saturday, which was my first mistake, but the customer service confirmed by bad choice.
The good: the prices were actually pretty reasonable, and the seats were extremely comfortable during the movie.
The bad: the staff working the concessions were very unprofessional, and were running an irritating and slow service.
The ugly: the facility was pretty dirty. Tons of popcorn and trash on the floor, and the condiment counter was overcome with jalapeños and sticky soda.
The only thing that would keep me coming back is how awesome the seats were.

This is a great movie theater. I just love the bar connected to the VIP theater. We have been here twice and both times showed up early to have a couple of cocktails before the show. The bartenders were fast and friendly on both visits. Our first visit we went into a regular theater. Our second visit we bought tickets to the VIP theater.
The seats were nice and comfortable and we were given a coaster with a light switch which would illuminate to let the servers in the theater know we wanted to order something. They were right on top of it the entire time. A great experience through and through.
TIP: Stick to the cocktails, movie snacks, and movies. The food here is poorly executed, but is a non-​factor to the movie experience.

Being from the Dotte, I’m biased but I love this theater. It is always clean and the seats are cushy/​big with plenty of aisle room. Compared to Alamo/​AMC/​Cinemark, their refreshments are pretty relative in price but their popcorn is the best. And trust me, I’m a popcorn connoisseur :-)
Everything is on par price wise with other local cinemas, but Legends offers cleaner and more comfortable accommodations. I’d recommend getting one of their (free?) members’ rewards cards and you can earn free popcorns/​sodas.
And as for the rowdy teens, just grab a manager — I’ve never seen a rowdy group of teens stay inside the theater after a manager has been notified about it. For rowdy teens outside of the theater, well… get over it… it’s the movies on a non-​school night — where else should they go?

I do like this theater! I’ve been a couple of times, and I’ve been pretty impressed with the customer service and cleanliness.
I also am in like with the theaters themselves, comfortable seating, nice screens and plenty of leg room :)
The concessions are better than cinemark in merriam, but the prices are exactly what you might expect, pricey!
Overall I’m happy with it. This review is for matinees, this chick is to old to be going to these things after dark!

So the power had just gone out in the storm. The computer was down and rebooting so they couldn’t sell tickets. They didn’t have medium sized Icee cups so we were totally guilt tripped/​extorted into getting the large Icee.
It was not a good start to our relationship. But they had the funny movie that we wanted to see. When we actually got in the theatre it was a nice touch that they had the leather chairs which were quite pleasant. The theatre had also recently been cleaned since there wasn’t the crunchy sticky mess on the floor that we all remember and hate with a fiery passion.
Tyler, working the snack counter all by himself with a huge line forming of angry and hungry people, was very friendly, professional, and mature in dealing with all of the chaos like the out-​of-​stock medium cups, the Icee machine needing a reboot too from the power having gone out, and everything else going on from people dripping wet from the monsoon outside. If Phoenix management reads Unilocal — he deserves a shiny gold star sticker for the job he did.

I’m a loyal AMC Theatres fan… I only came here because the movie I wanted to see wasn’t showing in any AMC. In the end though, this place wasn’t too bad!
The theater we were in was nice looking and actually felt more like an auditorium or performing arts center in setup, complete with a stage in front of the screen. Like Kev L. said, the aisles are slightly wider and the seats are slightly more comfortable, but it didn’t make a huge difference to me. As for the actual movie viewing, the sound here wasn’t as loud as it should have been for such a large theater.
