Pediatric Associates

The location right off the plaza is across the street from St. Luke’s. They offer separated sick and well waiting + urgent care hours with no appointment needed in the morning and late afternoon/​early evening. So convenient and great group of doctors.

We love this practice! We have seen Dr. Kevin, Dr. Julie, & Dr. Natasha. They were all wonderful. Highly recommend this office!

As a Midtown Mommy, it was important for me to select a pediatrician that was close to home and had extended and weekend hours… just in case. Dr. Woody at Pediatric Associates was recommended to me by a friend and I was incredibly impressed during our first meet-​and-​greet. It is obvious that she is caring and devoted to her patients. The clinic as a whole is well-​run. There are separate waiting areas for sick kids and well kids, and the rooms are clean and well-​decorated. They assured me that they save time slots for newborn visits so that parents of very little ones don’t have to wait ages to come in for their checkups. I’m looking forward to a good relationship with this practice!

I adore Dr. Woody. No one helped me feel as reassured and comforted as a new mom as she has done. She is so calm and detailed and never seems rushed or judgmental. She (or her wonderful nurse, not sure whose job it is) never, ever remembers to tell me if/​when I need to schedule my baby for a follow-​up, but I’m not docking them a star because the care she gets, and I get indirectly, is excellent. I love that there are walk-​in appointments in the mornings and after-​hours and on weekends. I love the nurse line for their cheerful, immediate help for random questions I’ve had in the last 7 months. I love the happy waiting rooms (sick /​well /​teens) with toys and wall art (murals, installations, and framed pictures) that is all reproductions of children’s books. The doctor’s offices are also decorated with themes, making them nice places to sit or walk around in and distract a sick kid. We’ve seen a few of the docs now, and I’ve felt my baby was in good hands with each of them.

When looking for a pediatrician for my newborn twins, I first queried the advice of other mothers, both of whom recommended Pediatric Associates. After interviewing Dr. Julia Ehly before the twins were born, I had no doubts why this practice received such great reviews from other mothers. From the convenient location and association with St. Luke’s Hospital that brought Dr. Ehly to see the twins each morning in the hospital after they were born to the efficient and high quality care we have received during our appointments, every part of our experience with Dr. Ehly and Pediatric Associates has been fantastic!
The office is open seven days a week and has hours that can accommodate nearly any schedule (including morning and evening walk-​in and weekend appointments). The telephone number connects parents directly with a nurse (available ²⁴⁄₇); in case of an emergency, a doctor is accessible. Really, this practice does everything short of making house calls!
There are several doctors in the practice, all of whom are great, so if your child’s specific pediatrician is not available, there is no shortage of great physicians to see him or her. And the doctors at Pediatric Associates see patients from birth to age 18 – they treat children of all ages – so your child’s doctor becomes very familiar with each patient (and parent). (A selling point for me was mentioning the names of the mothers who had recommended Dr. Ehly as we were beginning our meeting: Dr. Ehly recalled the names of the four children of those two mothers without hesitation. It is great to know that a doctor knows her patients!)
The reception area is efficient, and wait times for appointments are quick. There are three separate waiting areas (one small room for teenagers and two larger rooms for children that are separated as the «well waiting room» and «sick waiting room»), and there are ample toys, chairs and reading material in each. The decorations on the walls are quite pleasant as well, including pictures from Disney animated films, illustrations of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, etc. The result is a pleasant visit from the beginning, with no «scary doctor» atmosphere.
The nurses and doctors are all very friendly and make a point of smiling and welcoming parents and patients in the hall. My overall analysis is that this practice is not only efficient and capable, but pleasant as well. I cannot say enough good things about Pediatric Associates and recommend them without hesitation.

I love our pediatrician, Dr. Waters. He’s amazing and we’ve adored him since the day he first saw our infant twins in the hospital. The practice is terrific and we recommend it often.
The only negative — and it’s a big one — is that Dr. Waters’ nurse is not only practically devoid of personality, she’s often downright surly. And I say this knowing the power of online reviews, and with great respect for both Dr. Waters and the practice in general. This woman is our regular point of contact with the practice and she’s not communicative, helpful, empathic, forward thinking and certainly won’t budge one bit out of her way to help, accommodate, answer questions and/​or just act like someone who cares — about your kids or about your family. Kind of odd for a pediatric practice, and it often results in me wondering to myself why we hang around. If it weren’t for how strongly we feel about Dr. Waters and how much we’ve enjoyed interacting with him, we would be in search of a new pediatrician, for sure.

It doesn’t get much better than this when it comes to pediatric doctors!
Honestly, I can’t say enough about this practice. They have been fantastic from day one.
Great group of doctors with the most flexible hours around. Same day walk-​ins in the mornings and evenings on weekdays, weekend appointments and phone access to a nurse and/​or doctor almost ²⁴⁄₇. Gives you great peace of mind, especially when your child is sick and you don’t know what else to do short of taking them to the ER or urgent care. They take patients birth up to age 18 so you get to know your child’s doctor well. You also get to meet some of the other doctors in the practice when you come in for last minute appointments. I have called on a Sunday and got an appointment within an hour of my call to see a doctor. Where else can you go and see a doctor on a Sunday?!
I have traveled and lived in many places and no where have I found such a great practice as a whole. If you’re a new parent or a parent moving into the KC area, definitely check them out. Highly recommended!
