What a good time! We went here for the chat drag show and what a great time we had! The drinks were a reasonable price and such a great crowd! The bartenders are lovely conversationalists and really make you feel welcome. Even on a random weeknight we still had a blast!

NOTTRANSFRIENDLY. I had my first experience here last night while living just down the street and hearing many people rave about it. My first impressions were rather positive– people seemed accepting and the place seemed fairly clean. I went with my boyfriend who is trans. After about the third time we were both called«ladies» I spoke up and said he was trans and to please use male pronouns– I thought hey this is a gay bar so surely they’ll be open-minded. The bartender floundered and started asking a series of highly inappropriate questions«so are you a man?» «What were you before?» «So you’re a woman but want to be a man?» It was all extremely uncomfortable but I thought maybe he’d never encountered a trans man and I humored his questions. As we turned to leave we got another«enjoy your night LADIES.» Ugh. Nevermind we chose to go upstairs and dance. Let me tell you with all of the straight people in that bar it hardly made for a gay bar. That didn’t bother me– straight people, whatever, but the judgement of all those people was glaring. Like– yes there are gay people here please don’t watch and shake your head when they kiss omg. And the men in the leather shop were extremely judgmental and all they did was stare at my boyfriend and I– even when I asked questions as I was fairly interested they didn’t seem to notice or care. At this point my boyfriend is feeling very dysphoric and we decide to find a bathroom to take a breather. As a trans man he went to use the men’s restroom and was met with a huge sign that said«NOWOMENALLOWED. ANYWOMENCAUGHTINTHISRESTROOMWILLBEASKEDTOLEAVE.» When I asked someone who worked there about it and explained the situation(which I shouldn’t have to) we were both eyed up and down and he told me the women’s restroom was a little further back. Boy I was fuming. I had to leave. The drag seemed fun and my drink tasted good for what I paid for. Good music, but I’ve gotten less judgement from other bars in the area. Missie B’s– all the fun of a straight bar… with drag.

I’m pretty gay, but this place… Haha goodness. I can’t hate it but I can’t love it. Ya feel? Missies, is the place you ask youself -” How trashy do you wanna feel tonight, but still have fun?” lol It’s you’re typical gay/lesbian/straight bar. A lot more straight girls then what I’m use to in SoCal or in Charlotte, but of course you’ll get your typical«Girls night out». Nonetheless, still fun for that let loose and feel semi accepted club. In that since, Many of the lesbians are very butch, and the gay men are kinda rude. But Missie’s is one of the more popular gay bars in KC. Wish kinda makes me sad, which there were more. Still a fun club to dance, and enjoy your night out!

Last night Missie B’s advertised that there was a sobriety checkpoint at 40th and Main on their video screens. I find this bar’s behavior inexcusable and enabling of drunk drivers to avoid getting caught drinking and driving. When I approached the bartender he told me «f**k he police» and in the same breath tried to justify saving sober people time. The doorman replied that they encourage people to take cabs. To which I asked why they don’t post taxi numbers instead of sobriety checkpoints — no response. As someone who has lost someone I love to drunk driving, this is unconscionable and I will no longer frequent this bar. If you use our roads, just think about the effect of this bar’s behavior on you and your friend’s and family’s safety. Stop drunk driving and don’t support this establishment.

You cannot charge a $ 10 cover and expect 14 people to watch an overrated drag show while the rest of us pay $ 5 per house well drink and stand on our tippy-toes to watch a screen of the show. It’s nothing personal(we love the idea of this place), but let’s get real… as a married lesbian couple, vacationing, we will stick to the dive bars that Westport has to offer. Also, cash only for these overpriced pours. It’s getting even more sour.

Bring cash. Enjoy the drag shows. Dance floor upstairs with attached sex shop makes for an interesting experience. House music? Check. Dudes dancing on boxes in skivvies? Check. The drag shows take place downstairs and are top-notch. TVs scattered around the bar make it easy to view the show while grabbing drinks. If you’ve a discerning palate, I’d recommend drinking beforehand, as the options are quite limited.

I was in here for a short amount of time, however left feeling impressed from my brief experience. First thing first, you need cash. Cover was $ 5 and bar accepts only cash. There is an ATM within the bar. Drinks are ridiculously affordable. What I really appreciated about this venue was that it was likely the most diverse crowd I’ve ever seen at an LGBT bar(in terms of ages, gender, race, and anything else you can think of). As someone who spent a few years in Chicago and has ventured to gay bars in many different US cities, I’ve come to expect that lesbians within a gay bar are unlikely, and that the male born male oriented video bars are typically full of similar bodied men, with few(or none at all) women within the crowd. That was not the case at this venue. I enjoyed the spice girls themed drag show — and certainly appreciated the efforts and preparation of the performers(they were funny and had obviously rehearsed for a at least a few hours before the event). The main bar has pool tables and darts, and the upstairs has a dance area. What more could you ask for? Thanks for a pleasantly surprising evening, Kansas City!

We went for the New Years Eve party and drag show. Flo was a wonderful entertainer, however she packs a punch with her insults. I witnessed her tear a few people to shreds. I was thankful our group was seated out her reach. If you sit too close beware. She’s funny but you must absolutely have a thick skin! The drag queens were wonderful including (only one drag King ??) I wondered why there weren’t a few more. The service was top notch. The prices out of this world reasonable.

Music is good, but is CASHONLY. Always very crowded on the weekend. When we were there, they did have a drink minimum. What if you just want to dance?!

I love this place. The people are great and you can truly let loose there. The drag shows are a ton of fun and I’m always making people’s ears bleed at karaōke but someone is always up dancing or butchering the songs with me. Everyone is very friendly and they have different nights for people who want a variety. The music is always something that everyone can have fun to. Don’t be shy, bring the whole crew!

Cash only. Just so you have enough for a mini pitcher and a shot. ATM on site. I am no longer an all night, close the bar down gal. I like to pop in mid or late afternoon on a day off or vacation to a bar. I like to have a conversation with the bartender. I like, when on vacation like I was this visit, to get some recommendations from locals who gather at the bar about other places to go. This was the perfect place to do all of this. Stout Jack and Coke. Quick service. Fun conversation. Pretty bright for a dive bar. Smoking on the patio. Women’s rest room was clean but obviously an after thought when built! It’s tiny but clean. Parking seemed pretty limited and even the bartenders told me they often worried about folks stealing stuff from cars parked in the adjacent lot.(Über anyone?) You bet I would go here on a day off to grab a cocktail and a shot or two and visit with the folks who also enjoy gathering this during happy hour hours for a few. The music wasn’t super loud, the prices were decent and the place was easy to locate.

If you can get past the buzz kill of the obviously bitter staff and monopolized business model, you might have fun in this tacky small town establishment on weekends… But don’t offer comment, because there is a prominent«there’s the door» outlook… A communist slice of nouveau KC. Also you may be charged $ 10 at the door, or not. I have been charged on occasion, and on nights that I have been charged, I’ve watched as the door man let people in free of charge… My friend Rochelle paid for me without my knowledge, and I paid again to get in and the doorman took it. He snapped at me when I asked if my friend could step outside and get some air(armbands or stamps are not given). I’m done.

Awesome place with fabulous people! Not sure why some reviews were poor, kinda left us hesitating to go but I’m so glad we did. For starters, it was such a relief to go somewhere and just enjoy myself without having to worry about my car outside. I’ve got a sports car and I’m leery of parking it just anywhere but Missie B’s has more than several outdoor cams in the parking areas. Great part is the tv’s are hung right by the front door and constantly monitored. We felt like VIP the entire time there. Stevie B the bartender made the best drinks. The owner came up and made us feel very welcome, he even bought us a shot of whatever we wanted. When it was time for a show, we were escorted to the best seats in the house and had the best time. Anaphylaxis was an absolute hoot! Daisy Buc’ket is one of the best singers I’ve heard in quite some time. Her best was Janis Joplin, and no, it wasn’t lip syncing. Widow Fondue’s dance moves are a sure crowd pleaser; I wouldn’t even dare to attempt what she did. Overall, we can’t wait to go back to take our husbands. Yes, we’re straight as an arrow. This place is for everyone unless of course you have some insecurities! And for the other bogus comments, this place is very clean and well cared for, restrooms included. FYI — And No, it’s not overpriced.

I love this place but Ryan W. the karaōke guy is ruining it. He’s rude, disrespectful, and places himself on the singing list which erases customers songs so he can sing himself… I won’t return on Tuesdays until Ryan W is gone!

Missie B’s seems like the kind of bar that can’t decide what it wants to be. Downstairs: bar, pool table; oh, it’s a neighborhood hangout type of bar. Wait, off to the side: small stage for the drag show!(They lose a star for the lip-syncing drag queens. Why don’t they actually sing? This is just a glorified costume revue.) Upstairs: crowded dance floor, all ages. The little«gift shop» just adds to the confusion — it sells mostly hankies, rainbow bracelets, and a few leather novelties. I have no idea who Missie B’s primary demographic is intended to be, and maybe that’s the point. You see a little of everything here… old leather guard, young hipsters on the dance floor, drunken bachelorettes slumming with the fabulous gayz at the drag show, and plenty of ordinary folk just hanging out. Drinks were cheap & strong, and staff was pretty friendly.

Sunday nights are the night to go. Dirty Dorothy is amazeballs. The drinks are cheap. And never a cover. Show starts at 10! If your loud you get free shots. Make sure you get there early if you want to sit down. And after the show karaōke down stairs and dancing up stairs. This is a 5 star night. That being said. Dont go on a sat. Its not as crowded on the dance floor… Hell its Compleatlay empty. But the drag show is still packed. Oh and youll pay a $ 10cover charge to get in. And oddly enough the show is packed full of people that all seam like they dont want to be there. Its realy werid. I love this place. Its my favorite night spot in Kc

This is one of my favorite Bars/Clubs in the KCMO area. It is a Gay and Lesbian bar but they don’t discriminate towards any lifestyle. I have known the Owner Michael Burns for around 19 years. He is a Patriarch of the LGBT community. He has a huge heart and a wonderful man. On Saturdays like today they have an All You Can Drink Beer Bust from 2pm to 7pn for $ 7. Many Drag Shows, Kareoke, many Beer Busts through out the week. Its open until 3am 7 days a week. One of my favorite Bartenders ever works here his name is David Doyle and he can make a mean cocktail you won’t be disappointed in the least Guaranteed! !

I think I am past the age for Missie B’s to really be enjoyable. It is a bar. If you want to see a good drag show this is the best place in town with a regular show. Sometimes the jokes are really repetitive from week to week so maybe not something you want to do often. They do have limited run or one time shows which are worth checking out. The real star of Missie B’s is the happy hour. Some of the cheapest drink specials you will find in town. They have made a lot of changes. There is now a wall that closes of the stage area for ticketed shows and it opens for regular shows. There are dart boards and pool tables along with a dance floor upstairs. The place looks a lot cleaner updated. It does get pretty packed. If you want that bar atmosphere Missie B’s has it. If you want a more laid back scene check out some of the other gay friendly establishments in town.

After walking by this place a number of times we met some friends there for a few drinks. It was a Thursday night, so things were a bit quieter, but that was totally fine with us. Bartenders were super nice and pour strong drinks. We played darts and a few in our group sang karaōke. An excellent time all around and affordable.
