Mac Properties

I’ve been very satisfied living in a Mac Properties apartment. (Westport Central). You can handle all your maintenance and billing matters through their website or, if you prefer, you can work with someone onsite or at their main office. It’s all very convenient. I would recommend living at Westport Central.

Decent property management company. They’re pretty good about getting packages to you. Maintenance is solid, but can take a day or so to get to you. Their staff is generally helpful and kind. They have quality properties and in my time living in their spaces, I haven’t had any serious problems.

I’ve had nothing but a great experience here at MAC. My wife and I live in the Westport Central building and it’s great. Nice remodeled apartment with granite and stainless steel appliances. We live in the studio and it’s perfect for us. Great location as well. As far as maintenance we’ve only called them once and they were quick and in and out in no time. Highly recommend!

I love living at Mac! The leasing and management teams have always been great to work with, they are always cheerful and respond to emails and phone calls quickly! Whenever I have had any maintenance problems, they were addressed quickly!

I’m scheduled to move into one of their buildings on August 15^th, so it might not be fair to do this review yet. However, after the ease of the application process, approval, and lease signing, everything else has been terrible.
I applied for my apartment on July 15^th, was approved the same day, and paid my move-​in fee of $ 250. My lease arrived via email about a week later, and I signed it online and returned it the same day. So the initial process was very easy and timely and I assumed that all communication with them would be equally as stress-​free.
Unfortunately, it’s not. After I signed my lease, I emailed April Cottrell to see if I could see the model for my two-​bedroom floor plan or one like it. (My boyfriend lives in a Mac building, so I had applied and signed my lease without viewing the property I’ll be living in since I was familiar with Mac properties, renovations, locations, etc.). I got no response from my email, so I went to the office and spoke with someone else, who gave me the keys and allowed me to see the building that I would be moving into. Unfortunately, they didn’t have any two-​bedroom models in my building to show me, which seems odd for a large management company like Mac.
About a week after I signed my lease, I noticed that a two-​bedroom in my boyfriend’s building had become available, and I emailed April Cottrell to ask her if it would be possible to move into that building instead, since I had already paid my move-​in fee and wasn’t scheduled to move for another three weeks. Additionally, the apartment I wanted to switch to was $ 100 more/​month than the one I had initially picked, so they likely would’ve been making more money off my lease. April did not respond to my email and did not respond to the two voicemails I left her. I finally gave up and decided to keep my first apartment as scheduled.
Lastly, I’ve tried to contact them via email and phone AGAIN regarding reserved parking, and still have no response. I sent an email through the resident portal on Friday and left a voicemail on Sunday. It’s now Monday afternoon and I STILL have no response.
If you’re keeping score at home, that’s two emails, three voicemails, and one email through their resident portal system that have gone unanswered. I am shocked at their lack of communication. As soon as I paid my $ 250 move-​in fee, all communication stopped. They didn’t even wait for me to sign my lease before they started ignoring me. I’m still excited to move into my new apartment, but I’m thankful I only signed a 10-​month lease. If their service remains terrible, I can move out in less than a year.
I’ll update this review if the situation changes.
*** EDIT: I called back again today regarding the parking issue, and was able to talk to the receptionist (Elizabeth Heine). She took care of everything and sent an email so that I’d have reserved parking when I move in. She’s also the one who gave me the key so I could see the building. If you’re looking to get something done, ask her. She’s quick and responsive and very nice. I’m adding one more star to this review for Lizzie’s sake.
*** EDIT: I received a call from April this morning. They have taken ownership of my concerns and are working to fix them. I’m adding one more star because they have demonstrated that they are customer-​focused and willing to work with their residents.

I love my place, the only down fall is sometimes Mac isn’t the most responsive to calls you make. Other then that, the unit is nice, grounds are clean and people are friendly. And the power bills are cheap.

Everything is great so far. Ton of communication, very helpful staff. I really appreciate all of their help in finding my new place and helping me get settled.

I am updating my review because I would give them negative stars if I could. I dropped my phone in the hall outside my apartment and my neighbor found it and returned it to the leasing office… Who gave it to someone else. And instead of admitting their mistake, they actually yelled at me and told me to get out of the leasing office when I started to cry. Seriously. DO NOT RENT HERE

I love living with MAC Property Management. My building is quiet, pet friendly, and has great air conditioning. Anytime a small problem comes up, maintenance is efficient and does a great job fixing any and all issues. The staff is patient and truly cares for the residents. Even better, the company is always looking to please us with events. During the summer they’ve thrown a couple pool parties that had food, drinks, and even a DJ. They went as far as renting a party bus to take residents to a Royals game and I heard they are putting together a bus for a Sporting KC game too. Life at MAC is comfortable and enjoyable. I would recommend these apartments to anyone looking for a convenient location to hot spots in Kansas City.

I moved to KC in a crunch and I had 2 weeks to sign a lease and move in and be ready to start working. I found a cute place in the Bellerive apartments. I enjoy a good list, so let me sum up my experience with a few lists.
PROS: excellent snow removal service in the parking lot, great workout center, friendly staff, beautiful building, free google fiber internet service, fun, young, and trustworthy neighbors, nice kitchen appliances, laundry and outdoor pool on site.
CONS: very expensive for what you’re getting, amenities are locked up (theater and pool table are inaccessible unless you check out a key from the office during business hours), building doors are often not latched/​locked, no doorman/​office staff in the building, no great bars/​restaurants within close walking proximity, elevators are a little inconsistent, alarms on front doors are often going off, frustrations with UPS/​USPS delivering to apt door instead of to the MAC offices (like MAC advertises), rattly and inefficient windows, lots of street noise, infrequent cleaning service in the public areas of the building.
It’s been an okay experience. It kind of seems like staff is still getting kinks worked out and hopefully we will see improvements in the coming months.

We love our apartment, and like the staff, but the office folks are not very good at their job. Mac seems like a good company, but they are more concerned with image than following through with the lifestyle they sell. The office team is busy making t-​shirts and organizing cute events instead of addressing more pressing issues like parking, safety, vandals, lit parking lots or drive ways. I have rented from Mac for three years now, different buildings, and they are still working on constructing the main parking lot behind Clyde Manor. Three years and they have yet to complete it. We have experienced three car break-​ins in total and Mac has not done anything to address it. They have the means and presence to be a powerful voice in the community, but they make no effort beyond superficial or social action. They host pool parties and NYE parties. They even build and run a haunted house every year. But they have never held a community meeting that addresses issues impacting their residents.
Nice people, beautiful buildings, but I would not recommend you rent from them. Maybe hire them to throw a party. They can handle that.
