It’s been years since I’ve gone to the drive-in theater! I 70 Drive brought back old memories! It now cost $ 10 per person for admittance… it was a lot cheaper in the old days! I’ll be back!

Fun. Double feature for ten bucks. Kids 12 and under free. Only complaint. They shouldn’t allow smoking… I wouldn’t go back for that reason… I am allergic and I had to stay in my car with the windows up because everyone was smoking. And I moved to another spot… and guess what… more smokers. With kids coming to the venue… smoking needs to be banned.

From family movies to summer slasher flicks, this venue turns any film from guilty pleasure to old-school cool. Admission is $ 10/person for a double-feature, with a replay of the first film tacked on at the end. That’s 6+ hours of entertainment! They offer concessions, or you can«sneak» in your own treats. Sure, you could stock up on movie-theater candies at your local drugstore, but you can also let your imagination run wild. How about a picnic? Or if you’re going out to dinner beforehand, order that slice of tiramisu to go with a couple of plastic forks! A night at the drive-in is a complete experience, from the friendly ticket booth attendee to the oldies streaming before the show. The sound was crystal clear for us, and everything seemed to be in good shape and working order. Not a bad place to while away a summer evening, in my opinion. *One note to my fellow non-cash-carrying Unilocalers: This place is CASHONLY.

My boyfriend and I love going to the drive-in. We love it. During the summer of 2012 we frequented the I-70 Drive-in quite a bit and had a great time. So, when we decided to go last night to celebrate the beginning of the 2013 season we had high hopes. First, when we researched showtimes for the drive-in we discovered that a new company, Globe Cinema, had bought the venue and was now charging $ 10 per person, instead of the previous $ 8. Ok, we thought, perhaps they’ve made some improvements or maybe this will change the clientele a bit(last summer it had a tendency to get CRAZY crowded with vehicles full of children and dogs). It was not going to deter us from going. We also notice that the same company had bought the Twin Drive-in which had been previously unconnected to the I-70 and usually showed more family oriented films. While we didn’t go as often we enjoyed the diversity the two drive-ins offered. Not anymore, they now show the same films for the same price. Bummer, again. Oh well, we said, that’s still okay. We arrive early and are told to tune to 90.5 for our designated screen. The pre-show music came in crystal clear. We were pumped. We had recently bought a thrift store boombox for the sole purpose of taking it to the drive-in. Unfortunately, we could not get the radio station to come in on it. No biggie, it is a thrift store boombox after all. We can just tune the car radio in. WRONG! As the previews started we noticed that the station we had been told to tune to was not in sync with the screen. In fact, it was the station for another screen in the drive-in. We searched and searched trying to find our movie. We found, faint and barely audible behind an onslaught of static and white noise. Unacceptable. I went to complain at which point I was informed that there are dead spots and we’ll just have to drive around to find a clear area. Seriously? What if tonight was a packed house? Then what? We huddled close to the poorly functioning speakers in the«theater» for the first feature. At the start of the second movie we tried driving around to find a good spot. We found one! Crystal clear! In a thorough-fare. Seriously?! We pull into a actual spot and again static. In summation(sorry for the long rant), management made no attempt or offers to remedy to situation and as we drove around we discovered that the ENTIRECENTER of the«theater» was a dead zone. If you are going to charge more you might want to make sure your product justifies the price change. At this point, you are asking people to pay more and a vastly inferior product. Whoever owned the drive-in before — Please come back. You are missed. Sincerely, a former lover of the drive-in.

So retro! Four screens! Sound is on your fm radio, and all movies are double features. A KC classic!
