HORRIBLECAPPUCCINOS! Purchased 3 in our group, and we threw them out once we left the building. Go Back to coffee school and stop ruining the Roasterie coffee!

The H bar is a cute little stop located in the new Halls location at Crown Center. Halls itself is a lovely, upscale store and it’s nice to have a café/bar in the middle of it. They do have some options for vegetarians and they sport a full bar as well. The food there was pretty good and my guest enjoyed their cocktail(I had a Shirley temple). The dessert was pretty good as well. All in all, it’s a nice place to stop though I don’t think I’d eat here unless I was already planning to shop in Halls. The bar will, I’m sure, help boost business. After a couple of cocktails, a $ 400 Kate Spade purse probably doesn’t seem like a terrible use of half of your rent check.

When you are in a shopping whirl at Halls, it pays to take a break and refuel. At the new Halls, it is easy to do as the refueling station is right smack in the middle of the department store. Table seating is limited, but there are extra seats up at a long white bar. Yes, the bar serves coffee, but even more important-alcohol! Who doesn’t need a goblet of wine to make the Jimmy Choo’s seem like a bargain. I have been on two different occasions. On my first trip I had a ½ turkey sandwich and a bowl of butternut squash soup. They were kind enough to serve my turkey sandwich warm as requested. The soup was perfection with sweet brittle bacon and sour cream on top. My second trip included a Bahn Mi sandwich(on special) with potato chips that tasted homemade. The sandwich had all the profile flavors of a true Bahn Mi, but done on a more petite scale-really delicious. We finished off the meal with what was described as a pear sponge cake, but actually appeared to be more of a piece of wedding cake. The cake did not have the moistness or pear flavor that I was hoping for. I would like to taste the actual pear flavor and visually see the pear or pear purée. I would love to see a small cookie sampler or fresh baked cupcakes as a dessert option. I have noticed that the counter will feature carry out items if you want something special but cannot stay to eat. When I was there over Christmas, this included house made peanut brittle. Ladies, next time you need to talk your man into a marathon shopping day, let him know he can find respite at the H Bar-Good thinking Halls.
