I was absolutely stoked to find a Free People in the KC metro, so I wish this review was not about to be negative. On that note, I’ll start with the only positive, the staff was awesome and they are the only reason for the second star. Not pushy, really friendly, big win.
The store is mini-​boutique sized to start, and then they didn’t have much in the way of merchandise. I had a monster sized list of clothes I liked online that I wanted to buy in person, when I got there, they had one item on the list. I ended up getting the cute shorts with the lace and that was it. Overall, I wish I was choosing the merchandise for this store because Free People is everything fantastic about clothing, but this store left me with a resounding ‘meh’. Seriously. I have zero merchandising experience, but give me the job anyway, this store hurt my feelings.

Bought a shirt and a dress. They charged me more for the shirt than the price on the tag. Of course I didn’t notice until I got home. Was going to wear the shirt and get the price adjusted by calling, but… the security tag was left on the shirt!!! Their excuse was that their employees are ‘new.’ They couldn’t seem to think of any way to make this right for me. I have to return to the store and fight rush hour traffic on a Friday. No empathy from the employees, its not their problem.
Don’t waste your time here, shop online, or check out Nordstroms — much better selection, less hassle, more professional. Nordstroms would have accomodated me, and their security alarm would have gone off…

This place, Anthropologie and Urban outfitters are all owned by the same company. In my opinion this store fills the gap between the college student on a budget (Urban Outfitters) and the working girl/​mom (Anthropologie.) All have the same urban country décor with whimsical touches and cute as a button salespeople.
This store feels too young for me, but it is charming and would be a great place for teens with a little extra cash in their pockets. Cute store.
