Doggie Style Bowtique

My fiancé and I just moved from Brookside and wanted to find another salon we could walk to. Doggie Style Bowtique did not disappoint! I brought in my golden doodle Blake at 830 and she was ready to be picked up by 12. The staff was SO nice and showed me around the full salon and let me speak with the groomers about exactly what I wanted for Blake’s haircut. Everyone was so friendly and made Blake and I feel so welcomed and taken care of. They even recommended a pet hospital close by I could take her to. Blake was so happy when I picked her up and loves her summer shave down.
The price is well worth the service and quality!

Little guy loved his trip to doggie style bowtique! And his peanut butter hippo cookie even more! His cut was prefect but like other groomers he wouldn’t allow them to trim his nails so they gave me a card for a vet down the street that does discounted nail trims! Great service

PLEASE READ OWNERS RESPONSE BELOW AND MY UPDATE. I took my shitzu to get groomed and come to find out they gave her to another person, giving me the other owner’s dog. You may be wondering how on earth did you take the wrong dog home? My dog’s fur was very long and she had some matting so they had to cut her short, making her look very different from when I picked her up. And believe me I was going insane. Instantly I thought this doesn’t seem like my dog but I thought «of course this is her there’s no way they would give me the wrong dog.» Staring at this dog and looking over every detail and difference I called the shop. I wrote a message on Facebook requesting they call me and it seemed crazy but I thought I had the wrong dog. (They did look very similar)
The owner called me instantly and said she couldn’t guarantee that I had the right dog but it had never happened before and that no one else had called so I had the right dog. She said they had had multiple white shitzus that day. I asked if she could please call the other owners asking if their dog was acting unusual. I didn’t want to put her business in jeopardy and tell other customers she may have mixed up dogs but I was losing my mind. She called back said the other owner of the shitzu is a regular and would have called. Again that I had the right dog.
I had been sending pictures of this dog to my friends and they all completely agreed I did not have my dog. Texting the owner she seemed to be getting slightly annoyed… I text her side by side photos of my dog and the dog I had. Instantly she said that is not your dog. I will find your dog and in minutes she had called and located my dog with a 90 year old woman. She delivered my dog to me. She told me multiple times you have been so nice throughout this, if it were me I would be going crazy yelling. You get free grooming for life. She told me multiple times that I get free grooming for life. Honestly I just wanted my dog back and yelling at someone wouldn’t help the situation. But believe me I was crying at home wondering where my dog was.
I put off getting Bella groomed for months because every time I think about it it stressed me out. And still does.
I did not want to take her back there but thought they lost her once surely they won’t let it happen again. I called to book the appointment summarizing that I needed to schedule a grooming and that last time they gave my dog to the wrong person. I was speaking with the owner and no light bulb went off… no I remember you that was awful… no I would never let that happen again… nothing. She eventually finds Bella’s information card and said oh you have a free grooming that you haven’t used! I again say yes because you gave my dog to the wrong person. Still nothing. And she repeatedly said free grooming for life the night she lost my dog.
The main concern is how many times has this happened that you are in no way concerned that my dog was lost? How many dogs have been given to the wrong owner?
Mistakes happen. I understand that. But it says a lot about someone on their actions following an incident. I will never return there.
UPDATE: Now Obviously you can read the response from the owner. When she called me following the review I said it wasn’t personal. Yet she turned it personal against me, attacking me. I have the ability to write a review whenever I like. I don’t care if this happened five years ago. It happened. What I wrote is what happened to ME. I cannot control what other people do. I consider this harassment now. Her response should be all you need to make the proper decision to take your dog to her business.

I’ve been taking my 40lb golden-​mix here for a year and believe me, I have high standards when I leave my dog anywhere and with anyone. Gretchen and her team treat Oliver like he’s their own. They are consistent with his grooming and he always looks nicely trimmed (not shaved like some other experiences I have had in the past). I also use them for boarding and they never mind all my questions and check-​ins. You can tell this locally-​owned store takes pride in their work and cares for each and every pet like their own. They realize how important your little one is to you!

This place was great! Just moved here from Houston and was looking for a local groomer. Not only did they do a phenomenal job on Milli’s hair but the staff was super friendly. I will definitely be coming back :) thanks again y’all!

Wonderful experience! The owner made me feel so comfortable! That’s a huge plus, not to mention she got my yorkie in the same day as a new client. When I picked up my pup she looked great! The owner informed me she had fleas and they took care of them she even game me the name of a new vet in the area! I really appreciate the kindness and quality customer service! We will most definitely be back!!!

I’ve had wonderful experiences at Doggie Style for nearly five years now. My miniature schnauzer, Phoebe, is high strung and vocal, but Gretchen, Donna, and everyone treat her like she’s the sweetest thing. She actually gets excited to go – she runs up to the doorway – and always comes back looking fresh, clean, and stylish! Also, Gretchen has been flexible with drop off and pick up hours in emergency situations, and she has managed to squeeze me in on late notice. I’ve really enjoyed getting to know the staff, and it feels great to support a local business. I HIGHLY recommend Doggie Style for a quality and caring grooming experience for your dear pup.

Love this place! I am super picky about boarding my two long haired doxies! They are spoiled and my babies! I have left them several times and they are happy and healthy when I pick them up. Had an emergency situation, had to take Rosie in at the last minute, and the reservation was made easily! Gretchen is awesome and called me personally to reassure me about my concerns regarding their stay. She even opened up in the middle of the day for us to pick Rosie up on her day off! I am so glad we have this place — I can now live my babies someplace that I feel comfortable and know they will be taken care of!

I went here because it was really close to my house, but just no.
It is overpriced and quality is poor, I paid $ 50.00 more here than a place where I got a much nicer haircut. If you tell them to do something one way, they will assure you they know what they are doing, and prove otherwise. Unnecessary attitude can also be expected. Entrance of the building is pretty cool though!

This place is great for pet store if you’re looking for treats, food, or accessories. I have stopped in a few times to get adorable cookies and treats for the dogs in my life.

Let me start off by saying that I really wanted to give this place a chance despite some of the ugly reviews I read. I have passed by Doggie Style for many years from living in the neighborhood and getting my own hair cut at the salon next door. I love supporting local businesses and when it came time to get my pup groomed, this seemed like a good place. It had decent reviews, the staff seemed friendly when I came in to shop, and the location was convenient. I was especially impressed that their slogan was «We are the city’s best at hand scissoring, breed cuts, doodle specialty, poodle, bichon and maltese experts…»
I am here to call «bullshit.»
If your little Fifi or Fido just needs to get bathed and buzzed, I’m sure it will turn out just fine. Hell, bring your dog over to my place and I’ll do it for half the price.
My dog has a long coat that I brush damn near every day. The owner and groomer even made the comment, «You are the only customer that has brought in a dog like this without mats!» When I spoke with the «groomer» I explained that I just wanted her fur trimmed up but to keep most of the length. I also stated that I wanted her head rounded and out showed her a picture of a cut that I was hoping for. She explained that using clippers would make it choppy. I asked about hand scissoring, since that is what their slogan says. She said, «If I hand scissored your dog, it would take me 2 hours.» Umm… is that not what you advertise? Is that not your job? Finally a Pomeranian owner came in and stated he wanted a «silhouette cut» for his dog. I thought that sounded accurate to what I was looking for, something just to clean her up and keep most of the length. I told the groomer that I would trust her to do what she thought would look good. BIG MISTAKE.
I picked up my pup less than a few hours later and she looked okay. I dropped her off at home so I could run some errands and when I got back I discovered the hack job they did on my dog for $ 40.
As I mentioned before, I brush my dog often. She is half maltese/​half shih tzu so you can imagine the massive amounts of hair she has all over. I bathe and blow dry her once a week and it would be and understatement to say that I am in tune with what’s going on with her coat.
The groomer did a decent job trimming up her paws, tail, back side and under side. My dog also seemed to really like her when I came in to pay and she brought her out. What I noticed after my visit was that her chest area was incredibly uneven and after I removed the bows they put near her ears, her head was uneven and super choppy as well.
My boyfriend is incredibly unobservant and I asked him what he thought to make sure I wasn’t being a crazed dog mom. He said, «Yeah, that’s really bad» and proceeded to point out the same areas I saw sloppy work. He said, «Ehh, when I get bad haircuts, I don’t tell the person while I’m there… I figure if they can’t see how bad it looks why would I try to ask them to make it look right when I can come home and make it look right myself?» I should have followed his advice and just chalked it up as a life lesson, but I really, really, wanted to give this place the benefit of the doubt.
This business is closed on Monday so I had to wait until Tuesday at 9am when they open. I spoke to the owner about my concerns and she directed me towards Erin, the woman that originally cut my dog’s hair. I pointed out the obvious area, her chest, and stated that I just wanted it evened out. I parted the fur down the middle and showed her how much shorter the left side was than the right. It literally looked like someone took clippers to the left side and changed their mind before finishing the right. The length on the right was twice as long, yet she stood there bewildered and said, «I don’t see it…» Are you kidding me?
The owner came over and said, «Yes, Erin look how much longer it is…»
The best part is (and by this point, I was fed up with the fact that she could not see or own up to her mistake, apologize, or offer any solutions) that she tried to tell me that «…that’s just the way her hair grows.» Once the owner agreed «yes, that’s just the way her hair grows» I lost my shit. I literally walked out of this ridiculous establishment. I would rather do it myself, I mean it can’t be any worse, right?
My dog looks like I told the groomer to give her the «doc brown» back to the future hair cut. I would trust Harry from Dumb and Dumber to groom my dog in his Shaggin’ wagon over this place.
I promptly went over to Simply Grooming by Gia on 39^th and Jennifer evened her out without charging me. I should have taken my business there in the first place!
The good news: It’s only hair and my puppy has no idea how crazy she looks!

After a difficult day at work — I work at a pediatric mental health hospital so when I say difficult I do mean difficult — I was delayed a total of 10 minutes in picking up my pet. I had allotted enough time to get her by 5p but was stopped at every single stoplight from I-​435 N to West Plaza. I already felt horrible and apologized to the owner but she shamed me as though I were a child. After first charging me an additional $ 10 of course. I had returned a second time not because I thought my dog’s cut was particularly good — which it wasn’t — but because of the customer service. I will not return. You can easily get your pet a better cut/​trim somewhere else and I should hope would at least be treated civilly in the event that life happens /​if you are running a few minutes late due to circumstances outside of your control.

I love love love their staff. The store is very clean. The staff love their jobs and it shows.

This place is awesome. They all are crazy dog people (I guess you’d have to be to work here), and they are super great with my pooch. Scotland has a little case of «little man syndrome» and gets a bit nippy when being sheared. But they are super willing to work with him! And whenever I pick him up from being groomed, he is so fluffy I could dieeee! They have adorable doggy treats, collars, sweaters and toys. Their price (around 45) isn’t bad, either. Who wouldn’t want to give their business to a place with «doggy style» in the name. I mean really.

AMAZING EXPERIENCE!!! I can’t imagine having a better experience with a pet grooming company. I wish Gretchen and her mother were veterinarians too!!! My dog, Fella, had a great time. He wasn’t scared at all… and he’s usually a big baby.
Not only did they make my dog smell great and look adorable, but Gretchen recommended me to another local business in the area. She also put two and two together and figured out that I probably knew another customer (which I did). She called my pal to see when she was picking up Tramp so we could say hello to each other.
I’m not taking my little Fella anywhere else. This place is GREAT!!!

My mom, gma & I decided to have a girls day and I threw up the idea of taking my pug & my gma’s wild-​haired pomeranian to Doggie Style Bowtique. I had heard good things from a respected friend & visited the website to kind of scope them out.
We thought it’d be a great idea to not only pamper ourselves but pamper our pets also. Heidi, which was/​is my gma’s wild-​haired spunky pomeranian who desperately need her mane controlled. Well, let me say I had seen several pics of «Boo» the famous pomeranian that was all over the internet & famous for his Boo cut. I showed my gma a pic of this Boo character & she decided to go with it. My pug, Jada on the other hand just needed some major grooming, nothing to special.
So we dropped our girls off & decided to head to the Jazz for lunch. After 2 hours we go back to pick up our little darlings. We couldn’t stop giggling, smiling or laughing at the site of Heidi. Both of our dogs were giddy with happiness, smelt WONDERFUL & were clean. Heidi’s boo cut was absolutely adorable & it was almost like looking at a different dog. Heidi’s hair is a little longer than Jada’s & so they were able to even put bows in her hair which I thought was a nice touch! The prices were reasonable, maybe a little over-​priced but we were pleased w/​the services.
Make sure your dogs are vaccinated b/​c they are crated in a SMALL room w/​other dogs… just an FYI! I don’t think they require you to bring/​show proof that they are current on vaccinations. so just beware.
Really wish their merchandise was priced a little bit more reasonable.

My pomeranian and I were the first two customers in Doggie Style one morning, and the woman who was opening/​at the counter was extremely friendly. I left my pup for a few hours to get groomed. When I came back, my dog seemed very groggy. just, well, slow. Anyone who has ever been in the same zip code as a young pom knows they are NOT «slow.» Maybe she was just really, reeeeeally exhausted? I have taken her to other groomers though, and she has never been «out of it» like she was when I picked her up. All I’m saying is it was very strange, and I’ve never witnessed that from her before.
One of the main reasons I took her to get groomed was because of, well, her back half. Poms have a TON of hair, which can get disgusting. Anyway, her butt fuzz had barely anything taken off of it, and her nails hadn’t been trimmed.
If I remember correctly, no proof of vaccinations was required to bring a dog here. At the time, I thought that was GREAT (KS v. MO laws?) — soooo convenient!, but looking back, I really don’t want my dog in a small facility with other dogs who may or may not have something contagious…
I really try to support local businesses, but just can’t bring myself to return here.

This is a neat store with interesting products for dogs. The Bowtique is best known for the unique varieties of collars and leashes they offer. Our dog has a couple collars locally made collars purchased from Doggie Style Bowtique and she gets compliments at every dog park in town on them,
The store owner is generally always on site and is more than willing to place a special order for you.
The Bowtique also offers high end dog foods and treats similar to offerings at Brookside Barkery and Bath. We’ve never used the grooming services here, but we’ve heard good things about them too.
Prices are a bit higher than Petsmart, but the quality and uniqueness of the products offered are probably a little better. It probably isn’t for everyone, but our dog always seems to enjoy a visit to the Doggie Style Bowtique.
