I used to practice here in 2012 and I must say, it was 1000x more welcoming with a team of upbeat instructors that were nonjudgmental than the Bikram yoga on 39th. 100000000x more cleanlier as well, with a less in-your-face stench. I’m sad to see that it has since been closed down.

Interested in expanding your yoga practice and getting outside of your head? To achieve a calm mind and whole heart, to go to a place you’ve never been — requires you to try something you’ve yet to try. Whether you’re a seasoned yogi or new to yoga altogether, do not let the idea of a heated room scare you. If you haven’t yet found what you’re looking for in terms of health, this studio is a must-try. From someone who enjoys snow banks over summer sunshine, the heat will only bother you if you let it. Sound like something a hippy might say? For starters, you are here reading a review about a yoga studio. I began practicing Bikram about nine years ago in the northeast. I was new to yoga — I didn’t know what a downward dog was nor did I want to find out. That being said, your first Bikram class is for you — exactly as you are that day, right in every way. Whether you’re a first timer at 55 or more experienced, students in this studio focus only on themselves — you are there in that room for yourself. It will come with practice, but soon, it will feel like only you and the instructor. While you’re here on Unilocal reading reviews of this studio, you might also find yourself coming up with a reason to not chance the heated room, to perhaps research other studios via Groupon that promise discounts and music. You’re right — this class is not for everyone. For 90 minutes, you are required to be present — to stop planning your grocery list and focus on yourself in the mirror. You never truly realize how difficult it is to set aside an hour and a half for yourself until your yoga instructor requires you to do so. That’s harder than the heat, it’s tougher than the sweat rolling through areas you didn’t even know existed. If you want a true Bikram experience, you’ve come to the right place. If you are open to experiencing how amazing the human body truly is, you’re so close. Now, get off your phone and computer and look up the next available class time. Namaste.

Very friendly and clean — I wish you would open a studio in North Kansas City!

Get ready to sweat! They offer a first time student deal to allow you to try out the heat and see if this is for you! Very helpful to first time hot yogis, staff is friendly but expect hard work in class, which is great because you’ll need the encouragement! My favorite workout! … Locker rooms are very clean!

PROS: Good instructors, very clean, doesn’t smell like sweat, intro deal for new students CONS: Practice room is too bright(for my liking), loud fans going on during class in the practice room, very cramped bathroom/changing area, limited class schedule Admittedly, I don’t have a lot to compare to when it comes to Bikram studios, having only practiced at my home studio in Oregon, but BYSKC didn’t make a huge impression on me. I suppose as far as Bikram goes in KC, you can’t be too picky, and I’m sure I will be back. However, I am also looking forward to seeing what the other studio in KC has to offer and how it might compare.

I’ve been to 3 bikram studios and this by far the best. The instructors are supportive and take time to show you postures. The room temperature is stable unlike most places. The room is large to accommodate 3 rows with mirrors to focus on yourself. Thank you Bikram of S. KC! You’ve changed my life!

Bikram Yoga is hot… both in temperature and in vogue. It is a great workout and the South KC studio is one of the best Bikram studios I have ever been in. Tom and Brenda are excellent instructors and the studio itself is very consistent. That is very important when doing Bikram because the postures are very demanding; it is important that the room be the proper temperature so that you can get into the posture without injury. Needless to say, if you are doing Bikram, you already understand the benefits. The South KC studio and the people there will ease your mind and free you to improve your practice every day.
