Don’t come here if you’re biracial! They don’t know how to cut your hair. I brought my daughters, ages 7 and 4, here for haircuts only to be turned away. Because my daughters are biracial, their hair texture is a bit different. I found it odd when the receptionist said she’d have to see who would be «able» to cut their hair. She walked away from the counter and consulted with an African American stylist. I could not hear their conversation, but I assume she advised she could NOT cut their hair for one reason or another. Then the receptionist comes back to the counter with a white stylist. The stylist walks up to my oldest and touches her hair then says, «No, I don’t think I can do this. I don’t do well with curly hair. Do I wash, dry, straighten, then cut? I just don’t know. Sorry.» So then the receptionist asks if I would like her to call another salon to see if they could«help» me. So no one at Beauty Brands on stateline knows how to cut biracial hair(for a lack of a better term)? How is it we are in 2016 and this be possible? Why don’t stylists know how to cut all types of hair? I strongly feel this should be required. I contacted the manager about my experience. I believe his name was Justin. Justin apologized for the trouble and offered free hair cuts. I turned those down as I don’t want to receive service from someone unskilled. This location needs to take action. Send everyone to training or back to school to learn how to cut all hair types. The thought of my girls growing into teenagers and young women and being turned away for haircuts/styles because of their hair texture breaks my heart! We can’t allow this.

Im going to have to change my review now. As I said in my previous review David is the only person I allow to cut my hair… now when I went in for my monthly trim one of the gals informed me that he is no longer with the company. No reason to go back. only reason it gets two stars is because she was nice enough to tell me that he now works at Pinkie Couture in Leawood. its a bit longer of a drive, but well worth it for a superior stylist!

This is one of my Go-To places for hair care products. I also like their massive selection of nail polishes and nail strengthening products. However I do seem to need help finding selections. But I’ve never been disappointed. Someone always sees my puzzled look and asks if I need help. As I don’t remember names very well I visually describe the product and they know exactly what I need. They have travel sizes in most of the product I use which is a huge benefit as I love to travel.

I have used this location for haircuts & color & had fabulous service. Next time you’re there ask for David DeMaree. He’s a senior stylist & knows what he’s doing.

It’s Beauty Brand— if you’ve been to one, then you have been to all of them. What makes the difference is the location and the service, and there was none here. I was there for a 5 minutes without any one saying a word to me. I will not be returning to this location.

When you find a hair stylist that knows how to cut your hair, you stick w/that person! For me, that’s David Demaree. I followed him here from another salon, & even though it’s not too convenient for me, I love driving to Beauty Brands for my haircut! All the staff I’ve encountered have been awesome, always asking if I need a beverage while I wait — very accommodating! Product selection is varied & diverse. Definitely need to try out a massage sometime, too! But for now, I’ll stick to my hair cuts from David. He ROCKS!!!

I am a huge fan of Beauty Brands, love the fact that I can get some of my favorite products and also get a beauty type treatment(eyebrowing waxing here is a great). Another big draw for Beauty Brands is the liter sale that they have, it’s a great buy and I always stock up. Anyways I was running around last week and decided to go ahead and check out this location to see if they had any specials going on. I was greeted when I entered the store, offered assistance(I declined cause I was just looking around) and I went on my way. Went to the nailpolish section and was happy to see that they were running a special on the China Glaze nailpolish buy one, get one free(the polish is $ 7) Naturally I stocked up on some great colors and left the store spending under $ 30 which is a rareity for me. The customer service at this particular location is really great and the girls are helpful and will answer your questions the best they can. I really enjoy going into this location.

Samantha is awesome. She does a great job on my highlights/lowlights and cut. It is a little pricey in my opinion(about $ 140 before tip) but worth it. It sometimes takes awhile to get in because she is so popular. Very easy to talk to. If you are looking for a new stylist, I would definitely recommend.
