My previous hairstylist just kind of left the island so I was trying to find a new one. I went to one who didn’t do anything I wanted and then came here and I’m so happy I did. I love my hair and I love the service and I’ve found my new hair home!

Got my lashes done here by brand & I absolutely love them My lashes came out exactly how I wanted it. I’ll Definitely be going back for my refill !

i can’t STAND people who are rude or dumb on the phone.
I called to make an appointment the conversation went something like this
Me: Hi I was wondering what your schedule was like for TODAY?
Salon: Oh for what service?
Me: My hair is really tangled and I just need a wash and brush out.
Salon: Oh… well I don’t have time for that today.
Then WHY would you ask me for what service? as if you would have taken me if I wanted a more expensive service? Seriously a hair wash takes less than an hour… so…
Whatever, I just wish she would have said «Oh I’m sorry but I’m all full today, but I’m free…»

I was weary to come based on the reviews, as I am an avid Unilocaler; however, my friend came out of this place looking and feeling beautiful after using one of their packages. Honestly, I don’t always believe what I read, more what I see and feel for myself. I decided to give it a try and couldn’t be happier. I think my photo speaks for itself, Chrissy did an amazing job on my hair for a Brazilian Blowout and cut (apparently it was severely lopsided from my previous haircut, which she fixed). Sierra did a great job on my lashes, they look and FEEL natural, which is what I asked for. I’ve had lash extensions before which made me look like a cheap hooker, and they were heavy as heck. To top it off, the staff was genuinely friendly and laid back. It’s not a fancy salon, which I like, it’s clean, nice décor, friendly staff, most importantly awesome job on my hair and lashes. Only missing 1 star bc of parking, which wasn’t too bad, just had to circle once before a spot opened up. Oh yeah, another great thing I love is that their prices are fair. I can now get pampered regularly without the sickness of sticker shock! Happy camper…

I haven’t had anything done to my hair in years and found The Color Bar advertising at the Tattoo Expo a few weekends ago. I was excited when I saw their work and was really happy to know they were located close to home. I made an appointment for today and had a wonderful experience. I brought pictures with me to show my hair dresser what ideas I had in mind. We made a final decision and I am so happy with my results! My hair was done Chrissy and it only took about an hour and a half. I had fun chatting it up with her while she worked and she didn’t waste anytime getting the job done. She even trimmed off the split ends just by a few inches to keep my hair long and I had my eyebrows waxed in the end. I’m happy to say I love this place and will be coming back again for my next hair appointment or waxing! I really recommend this place and what I paid was so much lower than what the pamphlet priced my hair length at! :D

Don’t waste your time here. The «simply beautiful» package for $ 150 includes color & highlights, eyebrow & lip wax, eyelash extensions, 1 hr microdermabrasion facial, hair cut & style, and curl or flat iron. Sounds too good to be true right? & honey, it is!!! 1 star because the facial was somewhat good. Chrissy made my hair black when I requested a deep cherry (even in the sun there’s no tint of red whatsoever) then didn’t even do highlights like we discussed. To top it off she didn’t cut or styled it, just blow dried, not curled or straightened. Eyelash extensions were a joke. While they were applying them on the glue was running into my eyes. There were at least 10 that we’re glued practically inside my eye and both eyes were blood shot by the time I got home. The next morning I went to another salon to take them off. I even had to go to the eye doctors the next day and he told me both eyes were scratched inside. The facial was surprisingly good and it made my skin feel pretty smooth after but, during the facial the girl was on the phone with there boyfriend? Discussing where to eat dinner at when she was finished with work. Totally unprofessional. They forgot about my waxing but by the time i remembered I was already over this place and was ready to pay and get out.
You get what you pay for and this place sure shows it.
2 of my friends also went because they didn’t believe me and thought I was over reacting, and both got the same type of bad service and are BOTH looking for places to do color corrections.

I had been growing my hair out to one length, but recently, I’ve been suffering from headaches. Daily. So I called on a Tuesday make an appointment for the next day. It was my first time here and I loved my experience! I had a vague idea of what I wanted and Chrissy heard me and delivered exactly what I pictured. I’m very pleased with how it turned out and I’m looking forward to days headache free now that my heavy hair has been lightened… Thank you so much, Chrissy! I am definitely coming back for my trims!

Terrible !!! Owner is rude. Did my hair and ruined it when I called the next day she offered nothing to fix the problem. Only good thing there is the girl who dose the eyelashes. Never will go back again

Love this place! Beautiful environment & everyone who works here is so friendly. I Initially went in thinking I was going to go super dark, glad I didn’t. With the help by Chrissy Chock she chose the right color & cut for me. Dark Mocha with High Gloss & Long layers. I love the results & awesome service she provided me. Thank you! I could never find someone who would listen to me about the way I wanted my hair «chunked». Chrissy took the time to listen to me. I am so excited about the way my hair turned out. I will never go anywhere else ever. She was also very friendly and kept me at ease the whole time. Thank you so much!!!

Had a great appointment with Brittney. She’s been coloring and cutting my hair over two years and recently joined this wonderful group of talented ladies at The Color Bar.

Please note that this review is for Brit ONLY! I have not used any other services at the the Color Bar.
So, I am a long time customer of Brit. She was previously at Regis Windward Mall, but has since moved here to the Color Bar. Brit is always amazing, but today, I think she may have topped herself.
I trust Brit completely when it comes to my hair. My only parameters is that she doesn’t cut too much off and if she decides to put rainbow colors in my hair, to put it where I can hide it if need (I am a teacher). I go in for my root touch up, but she asks if I want to go lighter. I’m down with that because I usually go lighter in the fall and darker in the summer with my hair color. (What can I say? I’m different.) She starts on my hair, foils in my hair, then I see blue and purple coloring. I can only imagine that the mermaid colors will be making an appearance somewhere in my hair. (She did an amazing mermaid color on me back in August. I will try and post pics.) After my color, she does an amazing flat iron and cut on my daughter. Her hair is amazing! My turn! She shampoos and blow dries. The blonde is BEAUTIFUL! I haven’t been this shade since high school (LONG time ago)! It is looking really good. It doesn’t look like an obvious dye job (thank, God). And the surprise mermaid hair, subtle but oh so pretty! She is already making plans for my summer look. I can’t wait! But I can, because my hair is looking good right now! Thanks, Brit!!!

Just got my lashes done by Sierra! Quick and relaxing! The atmosphere is super chill and super cute! It was my first time and she was really gentle. Taking her time and keeping up a light conversation. She asked me what I wanted and I told her I wasn’t picky so she did what she thought would complement my eye shape. It took about an hour maybe less. I think I dozed off for a second cause that’s how relaxed i was. Definitely would go back. She also took her time with the drying process of the clue and told me how to upkeep my new fabulous lashes. I was tearing a little and she kept asking me questions to make sure that I was comfortable but I just have sensitive tear ducts so I told her not to worry about it. Would totally go back!

I was in desperate need of a trim and being that I was being very impatient, I couldn’t wait for my normal stylist to get back to me. So I asked the ONE person I knew who would give me a good recommendation; my cousin Chaz (as she is the one who found me the ONLY stylist that I allow near my hair). I’m very picky with whom touches my hair. I don’t trust very many people around my hair. I ask a thousand questions before debating if I’ll allow someone other than my usual stylist to touch my hair. (As you can see, I’m not a very easy person to persuade into allowing anyone touch my hair)!
My cousin recommended The Color Bar. She also highly recommended Chrissy (The owner). So I quickly got on the phone and gave The Color Bar a call. Chrissy; the owner picked up my call and was very patient with me, as I was being very sketchy on the phone (only because I was very worried). After reading the other reviews on Unilocal I was VERY very worried, but I scheduled an appointment with her anyway, for today. She took me at a time that worked perfectly for me! Found the place very easily (above Pahkehs, across the street from Walgreens Kaneohe).
Chrissy is very upfront and honest. She’ll take your wants & needs into consideration, but overall will recommend what she thinks will work best for you. She narrates every step that she’s doing so you’re never left wondering. (Or maybe it was just with me, due to my pickyness).
She trimmed my hair exactly how I wanted it. Keeping the length w/​long layers. I was also debating between making side swept bangs (as I’ve had them before) but she overall helped me decide on not cutting bangs! I was also in a long debate about dying my hair color (this debate was over a year long) the color was a deep cherry! And she said that I’d look good with it, that I’d match with it! So I went for it!
Overall, I LOVED the outcome! Everything about it! Sierra (Chrissy’s assistant) did an excellent job on cleaning up my eyebrows as well! (Pictures above)
I highly recommend The Color Bar to anyone who’s looking for a salon with quick and quality efficient service!

This is such an unfortunate review because I left The Color Bar feeling like a million bucks. I found a deal on Craigslist and decided to try it out for my wedding.
I read the reviews on Unilocal but decided to give it a try anyway because you never truly know until you experience for yourself… or so I thought. Word of advice, READ THE REVIEWS! They are there for a very good reason!
I was attended to by a young girl (age 19) whose name escapes me. (I will update this review when I remember). She was SUCH a sweetheart. I give her 4 stars. She was so excited to be taking care of me for my wedding. She did my eyebrows, microdermabrasion and eyelashes. The facial was amazing! She even threw in an arm, hand and shoulder massage. We talked for hours and she took her time!
When she was done with the eyelashes, I looked like a celebrity! Which leads me to believe that I might not be her technique but the products she uses from the shop.
When I got home, I noticed the lashes were coming out in groups. I called Chrissy right away and I could tell she seemed annoyed. When we were in the shop, Chrissy asked me how I had heard about them, I said Unilocal.She looked a little confused why I had come anyway, and I had told her I like to give people a chance and see for myself. She thanked me and asked me to write a good review because she has «haters» on Unilocal.Sorry Chrissy, add me to the pile.
I couldn’t immediately go into the shop the next day because I woke up, BLIND! My eyes were so red I couldn’t see. My husband led me around that whole day because I was in so much pain and couldn’t even open my eyes.
Chrissy refunded me $ 45 for the lashes through the technician that initially took care of me. This is why The Color Bar gets 1 star from me. Not because I had a bad result but how it was handled by the owner of the shop. This was a coward’s move by Chrissy. Wouldn’t you want to see that your products are having a negative impact on your customers? Don’t you want to confirm the damage done and reassure the customer that you care? Not Chrissy.
I have had eyelash extensions done COUNTLESS of times! Never had a reaction like this. I even do my own eyelashes regularly. I wear contacts and my eyes are not strangers to being handled. Something is WRONG with the products they are using.
All in all, I ended up in the EMERGENCY ROOM, A week before I would be married. My eyes didn’t clear up until 2 days before the wedding.
I will just say proceed with caution because of Chrissy’s managerial «skills». I really hate to hold this against the girl that took care of me because of Chrissy’s faulty products. This girl KNOWS what she is doing though, especially with lash placement and the facials she gives. If she moves shops, I would love to follow her.

At first i had no complaints about the eyelash extensions but once i got home my eyes started to sting and itch like crazy and i also noticed that there were more lashes on one eye than the other –_​– If i could give this salon zero stars i would.
My mother in law was also so upset about the crappy service that she decided to give chrissy a call basically just calling her out on it, telling her that she shouldn’t post promotions like that if she’s not going to be true to it and that it was pretty much false advertisement. Chrissy’s response was… «Well i thought she liked what i did but she come back for the waxing if she wants.» i guess chrissy must have somehow forgotten about the rest she didn’t do, even though my mom in law clearly explained what i didn’t get, and she also shouldn’t have assumed that i was happy with it. she should’ve just done everything she was supposed to.
so ridiculous!!!

Like Joy I too have found my new and FAVORITE hair stylist and massage girl. Such a cute cozy place they have. They are very accommodating and friendly. I LOVE my HAIR and I plan on coming back for another Queens Cocktail. Everyone has been asking me who did my hair… I tell them Chrissy!!! Also if you want a great massage for AWESOME price hollah at my girl Joy she’ll hook it up!!! LOVE this place and would recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy being pampered :)
