SNOW FACTORY BREAKDOWN:
THE FOOD: The shave ice is shaved in a different way from traditional shave ice. It is even more finely shaven than shave ice, which I didn’t think was possible! Picking up my bowl, I thought «wow! this is light!» It’s so finely shaven that it is mostly air. Although I suppose I shouldn’t be calling it shave ice because all their «ice» is dairy based.
THE VALUE: It was fairly priced.
THE EXPERIENCE: I would totally come back. Great experience. A little hard to find though…

I wasn’t a fan of this place.
The «snow» has a strange consistency, kind of like dehydrated ice cream. The multiple flavor combinations are amazing. I’d rather walk around the corner and get some shave ice!

This place is the best! I’ve had something similar at Aloha Crepes (they call it a snowflake there) but Snow Factory has many more flavors and is more specialized since it focuses only on snow. Super delicious, clean, spacious, and awesome. A perfect light and fluffy treat with really large portions– two people could easily share a small for $ 3.50.

Although this place is hidden, it’s the perfect place for a sweet, cold, delicious dessert. A wall of different variations of snow flavors/​combos to choose from including toppings like: mochi balls, popping flavored balls, azuki beans, condensed milk, etc. there are only a few tables as this is a tiny store. The snow is sky high and absolutely amazing! I love the taro & green tea combo. MUST. COME. BACK!

Snow factory is so YUM! I tried it for the first time on our most recent trip in March 2013. I got the taro and green tea snow topped with mochi and other goodness. The ice is already flavored before shaving so there are no heavy syrups weighing the ice down. It was so light and fluffy. The taro was delicious and creamy and the green tea had great matcha flavor. It’s so light you eat it with a fork… and I was so dumb I was looking around for spoons, LOL. This spot is located in a sort of hard to find corner in a strip mall in Kaneohe, but it is well worth it. We passed by Kaneohe when we were driving back from Kualoa Ranch to Waikiki. I am definitely going to visit the other locations when I am back in Hawaii (hopefully soon). Do I like shave ice or snow more… well, they are different and each are good, but since snow ice is such a new find, I definitely want more of it!

This place is SO hard to find. I walked around forever trying to find it, but I’m glad I finally did. This feels a lot less like shave ice and a lot more like shave ice cream, if that makes any sense. It’s very sweet and tasty, and you can get some mochi and condensed milk on top to make it even better. I wanted to try the fruit «caviar» but I’ll have to get it next time. There were lots of flavors and combinations to choose from, and the portions were good sized. The only downsize is once you get done with the condensed milk part, sometimes the remaining snow can be a little icy and boring, especially where it gets compacted at the bottom.

I love Snow Factory!!! It’s so much yumminess! Decided to go and try it out after a big dinner across the way at ayame ramen. I got the regular chocolate and coffee blend. when it came out it was huge. I thought to myself how am I going to eat all this! But it’s really light and melts in your mouth! So good! I ate it all. I was about to pop but it was all worth it!
If you never tried it you should!

Stopped in for some snow and inquired about the former Waimalu location… The guy making our orders said that they weren’t using the «proper» snow ice formula, so they could no longer use the name… Hmmm…don’t know how much truth there is to that, but whatevs, I came to get my snow on… had to get some Peanut Butter and Banana Snow.
It came with Melon Mochi, condensed milk, caramel, and chocolate sauce and it was onolicious!
You could tell it was the real deal cause you can eat it with a fork and it wasn’t melting like the one at Snow Flakes. Definitely hits the spot on a hot Hawaiian day… ALOHA!!!

This place has good icy treats. I dont know why but the last time I went there was a heavy chemical smell. I think they also changed their hours and the business is under new management. I think this place is struggling because of the placement it is located at in Kaneohe. I could be wrong I mean I am not watching the amount of people who go here so I cant really say anything for all I know they could be smashed at this moment. It just seems as though they arent all that busy when I go because it usually looks dead. The people there always seem bored too. In short good for icy treats.

I’ve had these snow factory snow ice things on the mainland before. I’ve heard its essentially Taiwanese shave ice. Instead of having a block of ice shaved with syrup poured on top, the ice itself is pre flavored then shaved! The strawberry was pretty good but the mango lacked flavor. As I stated before the mainland ones were much better

I went here today with my sisters, niece and my 3 year old daughter. I have been craving shave ice for awhile now. So my sister said she loved it. We stopped on in this afternoon. No line when we walked in which was great. They have so many combo choices and flavors I wanted to try. I just couldn’t choose. I let my daughter choose and she wanted Vanilla with chocolate syrup, condensed milk and mochi. Took a few minutes and our snow was ready. It was light and fluffy. I loved it and so did my daughter. I tried my sisters honey dew melon. It was sweet and refreshing. I was satisfied. Near the end of our bowl my little girl took it over and finished it off. Safe to say she loved it.
The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the services. Owner seemed like he didn’t want to be there. after we ordered he went in the back to make our orders. 4 people walk in after us. It looked like he was working alone. But maybe 10 minutes later a girl walked from the back. That’s a bit long for a customer to wait. No smiles on any workers face. I also noticed on the door, the owner is now trying to sell his business.
I will return as long as they stay open.

Snow Factory!!! Great place to go for a nice cold refreshing snack. Its kind of like ribbon shaved flavored cream or milk… I dont know what else to say about it except for, «You must try it atleast once.» Good eatings…

It’s a good thing Snow Factory isn’t open for breakfast, because I would be tempted to eat all three meals here! Yes, I’m publicly admitting that I’ve eaten lunch and dinner here, but the creamy snowflake ice is worth it.
I am a shave ice junkie, but sometimes the syrup is just too much. Snowflake ice is a perfect solution — all the texture of a really nice shave ice, but without the soup! I love that there are dozens upon dozens of flavors that you can combine. Their coconut and mango are both especially good. And I’m now a believer in the fruit pops — best topping ever!
The store front is a bit hard to find if you’re driving around the massive strip mall (it’s on a walkway across from the McDonald’s), but Snow Factory is worth the parking lot chaos.
Move over shave ice, xue hua bing (snowflake ice) is here!

I had a coupon so we tried them out. It was interesting, and very good! HUGE huge portions. I’m a main-​lander and most of the toppings were foreign to me, but I liked the new things. The things that popped (I think they were even called pops) were interesting and very good —
I see someone else has already said it’s like shaved ice cream, which it is, and someone else says it is like cotton candy … which is true too, it’s so light and airy and fluffy. the HUGE serving does melt down and settle, but it is still a large serving (even the smaller size was). If you’re from where there is actual snow that falls from the sky, this isn’t like eating that kind of snow either.
Definitely worth the experience.

Did a search on places to eat/​rate in Kaneohe and I came across Snow Factory. I am a local Kaneohe-​boy, lived here all my life, but I didn’t hear about this shop opening up. I read up on all the reviews and I knew that I needed to stop by. My wife & I had something similar in town at Jin Din Rou, but here was a shop that specialized in this type of dessert and it was here in Kaneohe.
So off my wife & I went to Snow Factory after our lunch today. The shop is small. One table inside and two tables outside. The girl behind the counter was nice and greeted us as we entered. Their selection of combos was pretty intensive. It covered the gamut of sweet to fruity to local flavors (li hing mui). You can also select your choice of flavor for your «ice» and then pick the flavored topping that you want.
We played it safe and went for the mango/​lychee combo. For just under $ 7 we shared the huge bowl of fruit flavored goodness. The photos in the shop show the «ice» as being ribbon-​like, but it really wasn’t like that. It wasn’t like shave ice either. The best way to describe it is it is like a very light, cotton consistency. It seemed airy and at first glance it didn’t seem like it would fill you up… but oh was I wrong.
The flavors of mango and lychee were pronounced but not overwhelming. It wasn’t overly sweet either. I read an earlier article where someone commented that their serving was extra-​sweet. My comment to that person is, «What did you expect?» you’re in a dessert shop for Christ’s sake. After that huge bowl, we were pretty satisfied. Who would have thought that a bowl of this light airy frozen sweet goodness would make us feel like this?
We will definitely go back and try all the other different flavors. They have a li hing mui/​pineapple combo that is calling my name. :)

Yay to delicious desserts! Yay for having it in Kaneohe not kailua where parking is a pain btw.
Pros: Delicious, well I got the taro/​coconut with the fixings which was amazing, I love how the texture of the ice is so soft… kind of like snow… hmmm.
The employee was very nice, thumps up for her.
BTW the Oreo crumbs, peanut and almond crumbs, etc toppings are complimentary.
Cons: I like how its in the windward shopping center, but its kind of hidden, if you been to this shopping center its near the satellite city hall and oceanic twc office.

Too sweet. Of all the shave ice 2.0 places I’ve tried so far, this is my least favorite. It’s a cute and trendy store, and yes, the shave ice is soft, but everything is too sweet. And then if you have one of the suggested combos with the the condensed milk on top, it’s waaay too much. I couldn’t finish either combo I ordered. I tried the combo with green tea and milk, and I think Ailana makes a better green tea shave ice. If you want better shave ice 2.0 style, I’d recommend Frost City or Ailana instead.

This is not really shaved ice. It’s more like shaved cream with flavor in it. Either way, we go here often.
I usually order Green tea with azuki beans, mochi balls, strawberry pops, condensed milk & chocolate syrup.
My husband gets #9 which is Chocolate/​peanut butter, caramel & chocolate syrup, & condensed milk.
The portions are large and well worth the price which is not bad. It is better than shaved ice and not as heavy as ice cream. You should definitely find this place (across from Satellite City Hall in Windward City Shopping Center) the staff here are really friendly and courteous. Will take a picture next time I go!
