History

Established in 1984.

Dr. John P. Oka acquired the practice in Jan. 2013 from the original owner, Dr. Jerald Takesono. Dr. Oka continues his legacy of personalized dental care while using low-​dose, digital radiographs and white resin filling options. Dr. Oka has also incorporated the latest technology including CEREC same day crowns.

Dr. Oka is a 2008 UCLA dental school graduate and completed a general practice residency at the Sepulveda VA hospital in northern Los Angeles. Dr. Oka grew up in Hawaii and graduated from Punahou School. He is married and has four children and is also an officer in the Hawaii Air National Guard.

Dr. Oka and his staff are wonderful people. They are sincere and caring folks. I always receive a warm welcome and am seen on time. The office atmosphere is pleasant. I love the art work and music to soothe any dental jitters.
Everyone seems happy to be there and they all work together well. The equipment is modern and overall, everything «feels» and looks clean.
The drive from Mililani to Kaneohe on the H-​3 is beautiful. I usually make a day of it by having lunch nearby, shopping at Windward Mall (plan to go to the Farmer’s Market if your appointment is on a Wednesday), and viewing the art exhibit at Hoomaluhia Park which changes monthly.
Going to MY dentist, Dr. John Oka, is something to look forward to!

I went to my 6 month check up yesterday and they found a cavity! They had time in the afternoon available so I made an appointment.
No pain, no discomfort at all. Isn’t that the most important thing when seeing a dentist?
He and his staff are professional and friendly. Highly recommended!

I highly recommend Dr. Oka. Aside from being just a really nice and personable guy, he is very understanding and listens to his patients needs.
Who ever thought a Dentist would be using a 3D printer to give his patients the best of everything! I had a front tooth cap break and just dreaded going in! Dr. Oka was able to take images of my broken cap and print a perfectly fitted one on his 3D printer!!! No temporary stuff that looks ugly and I don’t need to go back to finish! It was all done in 1 appointment!! I
I will always miss Dr. Takesono and Betsy but I’m happy to say that Dr. Oka and his staff is a fantastic choice and will be my family’s dentist forever!

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Oka for about a year now and he is awesome. Not only is he very knowledgable and thorough, he is also a really nice guy. All his staff are wonderful as well. Everyone has a gentle touch and I don’t have to worry about leaving in pain. I highly recommend Dr. Oka!

I have the honor of Dr. Oka’s 1st review. I have had the pleasure in getting to know Dr. Oka over the last 5 years and you will not find a nicer dentist. He graduated from UCLA (GO BRUINS) and recently took over another practice. He and his staff work great together and I don’t dread going to the dentist any more.
I would recommend Dr. Oka in a heartbeat, try him out. He will not disappoint.
