These ladies are amazing! I had my Ball dress altered here. It was perfect, their work is top notch !! Great turn around time. Highly recommend !

I had a designer dress that needed major alterations and I went to Designer Alterations after reading the glowing reviews on Unilocal.This was quite a leap of faith as I live in town and there are many tailors closer to home, but reading some of the negative reviews made me hesitant.
Lek listened to what I wanted to do, and quoted me less than what I expected to open up both sides of the dress and add in extra panels. The fit was perfect and the seams were finished beautifully to look like part the the original design.
It was well worth the drive from town and I’m glad I relied on Unilocal reviews!

This is a wonderful mother-​daughter business. These lovely ladies are very hard-​working and know what they’re doing! I got my dress blues altered here a week before the Marine Corps birthday ball and they were done within a few days. My coat looks wonderful! I was recommended this tailor shop for uniform items and I highly encourage it.

Took a designer wedding gown in needed it taken in almost a complete size and they were more then helpful annnnd only took a week!!!

We went to six different alteration and even tried upholstery shops to get a patch sewn onto my boyfriends cut. Everyone said because of its thick leather, they couldn’t do it. This shop did it less than five minutes, right as we waited, and for $ 12. AWESOME! Will definitely come back

I’m a petite size lady and frequent Designer Alterations many a times. Prices are reasonable, depending on the job order and fabric of your garment. Ready for pickup within one week. In all the years of being a customer, I’ve never had a problem or reason to fix. FYI, customer is required to pay up front for your alteration need.

Lucy and her Mom are excellent. They were able to do amazing alterations to make my wedding dress fit perfectly in less than 2 weeks!

This place had great and friendly service! They altered my formal dress and my husbands suit perfectly in a timely manner! My husband looked really sexy in his newly altered suit. The mother and daughter are really sweet and helpful too! I will be using designer alterations in the future for all of my alteration needs.

Thanks to my mom who encouraged me to take sewing lessons, I can do simple things like hem pants, sew a dress, and patch holes. Men’s clothing is something else…
When my nephew needed to shorten the sleeves on his jacket for prom, I wasn’t able to do this complex task. My brother-​in-​law read some Unilocal reviews, found Designer Alterations, chose this business and has no regrets! They were quick, efficient, pleasant, and perfect! My nephew got compliments on his jacket and was so happy! No one knew that the sleeves were shortened from the bottom and the buttons were sewn back in all the right places!
We highly recommend Designer Alterations! It’s located in the T. Yogi Building on Kamehameha Highway — between Kaneohe Bakery and New Mui Kwai Restaurant. It’s on the bottom floor of this two-​story building with Viet Thai Restaurant and the «feed store» (Kaneohe Farm Supplies) as its neighbors.

Best alterations place I have ever been to. Back in June, I had ordered my wedding dress offline. It fit me everywhere except the bust area. I took it in and after these ladies worked their magic it fit like a charm. I just took a formal dress in that I needed shortened on short notice. They had it done in time and everything looks perfect. I will never go anywhere else.

Designer Alterations repaired my bathing suit that had wire coming out and they did a fabulous job. The stitching is flawless. They also repaired a brand new sheer shirt I purchased at a discount retail store that was ripped when the cashier tried to «yank off» the security tag. I didn’t think it was salvageable but they were able to fix it better than I could have myself. Thank you so much!

I needed a bridesmaid dress altered and two places in Kailua told me they couldn’t do the job because of the material (chiffon). I came to Designer Alterations and was immediately welcomed with smiles by the mother-​daughter team. They took their time meticulously pinning and measuring, and they were also really pleasant to talk to. They were up-​front about a little extra charge due to so many layers in the dress. My dress was finished in less than a week (wow!) and it was perfect! I was extremely happy with the results and I’ll definitely be back.

After having a not-​so-​great experience with David’s Bridal about my wedding dress, Lucy and her mother (please forgive me, I forgot her name! :-() made me fall in love with my dress again! ^_​^
At David’s Bridal, the senior consultant (I would love to mention her name here so future brides won’t go to her, but I’ll refrain myself for now as this is about Designer Alterations) was good at making me try on a dress she loved (Oleg Cassini) and altered it so that I would love it (made the cap sleeves off-​the-​shoulder and the neckline into a sweetheart). She made me love it so much that I said yes. I had already given a previous consultant my budget, but apparently this senior consultant hid the price of the dress from me. She also assured me that the dress can be easily altered by a local seamstress to how she altered it with clips. When I went to order, the price of the dress made me sick. She then ordered one size bigger so to give the local seamstress more material to work with.
I was so upset when I got my dress because it was WAY TOO BIG and DISGUSTING on me that I didn’t even look at it for a couple months. Finally, I searched around and found Designer Alterations. With such high reviews, I knew I had to go to this place! So I did with my mom.
Lucy’s mother immediately looked at my dress. She got me worried when she started looking very concerned at how the dress was made and sewn. What I got from the consultation is that there were way too many layers, the bodice was too thick, the hem was way too long, and the neckline alteration would mean to take away the beautiful scalloped feature.
She concluded that if I wanted what the David’s Bridal consultant showed me, it would mean taking apart the entire dress and resewing it back together. I would have to pay about the same amount as the dress itself. She also advised that the consultant should never have ordered a size bigger (from my point of view, now that I think about it, the more a bride has to alter her dress, the more money she has to pay. Keep this in mind brides!!!).
She did assure me, though, that the dress is beautiful and that the lace detail is very unique. She convinced me to keep the neckline and tightened the sleeves. The bodice, because it was too thick with layers, was a bit of a challenge, but she pinned it so that it fit just right. The front layers of the dress had to be pinned up one by one (I think there was at least 7 or something like that). The top layer had the scalloped feature like my neckline so instead of chopping it off (she really didn’t want to lose that feature of the dress), she pinned it up.
The price I paid for hemming, taking in the bodice, and tightening the sleeves was very reasonable due to the amount of detail to my dress. It took about 2 – 3 weeks to alter, which was fine with me because, believe me, my dress had a lot of lace detail.
When she was done, I went back and tried it on. It fit perfectly! The bodice wasn’t as tight as I had originally wanted it, but the slight extra room would definitely give me some room to eat and breathe! The front hem of the dress just brushed the ground and I could walk very easily. I’m not a busty girl and am very insecure about my chest area, but the way it looked on me at that point made me forget about my main body insecurity.
She then suggested that I do a bustle because the train was so long and people would be stepping on me wherever I go. I didn’t question her and said yes. A week later, she was done. I wasn’t able to be there to pick it up because I had work, but my mom picked it up and was shown how to do the bustle.
I can’t wait to try on my dress again!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH, DESIGNER ALTERATIONS, FOR MAKING ME LOVE MY DRESS AGAIN.
My one tip for future customers: if you have a dress with a lot of detail on it, please give them at least 2 weeks to alter it to how you want it. They do rush orders, but I highly suggest to give them more time just so they can focus on your dress (or other detailed item of clothing) and work out any kinks that might go along the way.
Other notes:
— They accept cash & bank cards and payment is due upfront.
— They do call you when they are done or need more time.
— Parking is a bit tight.
— They do what needs to be done and can figure out the problem pretty quickly, so that you’re not waiting forever-​and-​a-​day for their comments/​suggestions.
— If you have a wedding dress, my suggestion would be to go way before or after prom season as there will probably be many last-​minute teens and their parents trying to vie for their attention.

I needed a gown hemmed asap, and this fantastic mother and daughter operation got the job done in a week flat (and without costing me my firstborn child). Quality work with great customer service. No reservations, so mornings seem to be best; I came in in the afternoon and had to wait out the prom crowd. Bless the mom’s heart too since she asked me, in complete sincerity, which prom I was headed to. (The high school crowd is much more likely to call me «aunty» than to mistake me as one of their peers!)
Needless to say, I will be back for further alteration and unintentional ego boosting needs!

This mother-​daughter duo does a wonderful job with alterations and are great to work with. I’ve taken my ill fitted uniforms here a couple of times now and the results have been impeccable each visit.
It’s always a one week turn around and they somehow manage to not run behind. The nice part is if the daughter isn’t too familiar with how to tackle tricky alterations, her mom is usually there with a quick fix… and she’s meticulous! Gotta love that!
Parking is easy. They are closed Sunday & Monday.
Though it is pricier than what I’m used to, you get exactly what you pay for. Can’t go wrong here. Definitely plan on coming back!

These ladies are WONDERFUL. I first visited them when I needed a full length gown altered for the Marine Corps Ball and had only been on island a few months. As they were right up the road from me I figured why not give them a try. My dress came out beautifully and the two ladies who work here are SO lovely and welcoming. I have brought many, many other items to them and there work is always impeccable. I have found them to consistently produce quality work at fair prices in a very warm and welcoming environment. I can’t recommend them highly enough.

I took 3 pieces for 3 different types of alterations. The quality was impeccable and the customer service fabulous! 1 week turn around for high quality service with a reasonable price. I will be returning with more items!

You can’t go wrong with this alterations place… unless you expect them to be open on Mondays. ;-) Once you’ve experienced their professionalism and superior customer service, you will keep going back for all your alterations needs. They are outstanding, to say the least. Definitely the best alterations place on Oahu.

Designer Alterations is one of the best alteration places I’ve been to on Oahu. I needed a dress altered for a wedding and even with the amount of work that needed to be done to the dress, the job was completed in a week and a half. The quality of work is OUTSTANDING and the prices are competitive. I’ve been recommending this place to everyone I know. When you stop by you also need to try her baked goods. Her cookies are so ono!

Hard working and kind mother and daughter duo that will get your shirts nice and slim. They tailored four of my shirts in one week and I paid about $ 20 a shirt. Overall, I am very impressed by their work and service. They aren’t expensive, but I wouldn’t say cheap either. Regardless, definitely worth the money.
