Chad Yim, DDS

Dr. Yim was recommended by a paddling buddy. He and his staff are fantastic. I saw him for my annual checkup and had my teeth cleaned by Jenal. They were both great as was the office staff. I highly recommend this practice.

I’ve been going to Dr. Chad for several years now and all of my family truly enjoy the staff and treatment there. I have referred several customers to him because I trust his level of expertise and care for others.
He even helped and took
Care if my nephew when he fell and knocked his tooth. He was great and patient with a crying 6 year old.

I moved from Maui and delayed looking for a dentist for a few months. I finally decided to go to Ko’olau Family Dental which was recommended by a friend and my boss. Dr. Chad and Dr. Lisa are excellent. Dr. Chad did my evaluation at the end of my cleaning. He explained everything in a way that was very understandable and answered all of my questions thoroughly. They offer high quality services. Dr. Lisa did my fillings and crown and she was great! Dr. Lisa and her assistant had me laughing in the chair (yes, while I had all that stuff in my mouth). They are so fun and friendly!
They have a kids area and lots of magazines to read from. The receptionists are very friendly and extremely helpful when it comes to figuring out your dental insurance questions.
I don’t personally have kids, but my friend who brings 4 year old son there says they were great with him! He was not afraid of them at all and told her that he really liked them.
Another very important aspect, is they have LOTS of parking space.

I’ve tried many different Dentist. Dr. Paul Tanaka is great but his hygenist was soo busy, hard to get an appt. Then I tried Jeffery Miyazawa for a few years. Endured the ever changing hygenist as well as very painful proceudres with this Dr. Tried another Dentist. Never like him either. Finally tried Koolau Family Dentistry. Very nice office. The staff was very pleasant and friendly. My Hygenist was great. It was the most pleasant cleaning I ever had. And I have not had a pleasant one since I left Dr. Tanaka 10 years ago. I had Dr. Lisa Whang do my evaluation and she was great. So easy to talk to. I’m bringing all my kids over to this dentist practice for their next visit.

Personally, I’ve spent about 10% of my life sitting in a dental chair. Cavities and fillings as a kid, replacing the fillings later on, wisdom teeth removal, extractions getting ready for braces and 5 full #*@!#*&‘ing years of old fashioned braces with wires and head gear and retainers and even a root canal!
So I’ve been around the block once or twice in the world of dentistry.
But, it is priceless having a set of choppers that are healthy. Dr. Yim, based on my extensive experience, is as good as they get. Friendly office, efficient expert care and they will get you in quickly if you have an emergency. Dr. Yim is the primary dentist, but, Dr. Lisa (I don’t even know her last name) is the #2 and shares the office. She is great also and I would recommend her highly also. These are general dentists and not specialists.
The dental hygienists are also great and gentle.
My whole family has been going here for about 10 years so everyone knows us. We are fortunate enough to have dental insurance so we are in at least every 6 months.
