Business Owner

I started fixing computers my freshman year in college at Illinois State University. I was employed by the Computer Services department, and was part of a small team responsible for keeping things running in a lab with 200 Windows computers and 150 Macs that was used by over 12,000 students and professors every week.

My time was split pretty evenly between keeping the computers working and answering questions/​solving problems for 30 – 40 people a day, so I became quite comfortable woking with both machines and people. Every semester, I would get thank you cards from professors expressing their gratitude for my help in keeping their classes running smoothly, and it felt great being acknowledged and appreciated for my work!

Even though I graduated with a B.A. in psychology, and a M.A. in gerontology, I decided upon graduation that I was enjoying the combo of working with computers and people so much that I was going to keep at it, and here I am 15 years later, still loving what I do!
