T & J Towing

These people were terrible. My car was towed from my designated parking spot because my pass wasn’t hanging from the rear view mirror. I called and said I would be there in 40 minutes. He said call when you’re on your way. I did. Got there, cab left, and no one was there. It was all locked. I had to stand out in the cold for literally 20 minutes (I counted). And on top of that they said they only take cash. $ 140 in cash. Very inconvenient and expensive. The location looked post apocalyptic too. There was a dirty old mannequin head in the window. Creepy and dirty.

Rude customer service. Never deal with them again!!!

$ 160 fee to get car back after a 5 minute tow, from right in front of a friends apartment with plenty of open spots around. Got to the tow yard at 1am, called in advance, no one was there. Waited around in the cold and payed their fee, was given no receipt and they wanted me to leave when i wanted to check for damages. Must love ripping off poor college students

I would leave a zero star if possible. These people towed my car from a visitor lot at my complex. Seriously?! Absolutely ridiculous. Over many arguments and my refusal to pay for anything related to this sparked the owner to call us. The owner was nice and apologized after blaming his incompetent staff multiple times. I was thoroughly irritated and after complaining for nearly an hour continuously, I got my car released with no charge. This place is an absolutely joke and if I ever really needed a towing company I sure wouldn’t call them.

Definitely scam artists. Towed our car from a visitors parking lot. When we went to retrieve the car the men there threatened us immediately saying: «don’t step on our property, we’ll call the police on you, your trespassing». After exchanging a few words and being charged an outrageous price, they wrote a sketchy receipt to us and let us leave with the vehicle. Only to then report the car stolen to the police and attempt to get us arrested saying that we stole our car, and did not have authorization. These people have no morals, no lives, and are money hungry thieves.

My Jeep stalled out while driving home from dinner & wouldn’t start again. Called McDonalds Towing & they said 1 hr 40 mins… forget that! Called T & J’s & they were there in 10 mins, hooked us up, towed us home. Reasonable hook up fee, nice guys & prompt service. Can’t ask for more than that. Thanks guys & funny thing Jeep started right up this morning???

Absolute criminals tied up with the corrupt police in the area. The definition of organized crime. The police agreed to leave my vehicle parked in a parking lot overnight, but somehow these crooks were there 60 seconds later to tow my vehicle. I’m certain they have a monopoly with law enforcement in the area. The officers probably get a cut of each vehicle towed.
Upon going to pick up my vehicle, they said someone would be there in 5 minutes to release my vehicle. They have no office or any place to wait, and they ended up making me wait almost 2 hours outside in the cold.
After getting approved by the police to release my vehicle, they wanted an absurd amount of money to release my vehicle, and when I paid with cash, they said they didn’t have any change. What kind of business doesn’t keep any change? Then they threatened not to release my car, saying, «We are not required to release your vehicle.» Isn’t that considered theft?
When I finally got my vehicle back, I noticed there was barbeque sauce splattered all over my interior. I have never in my life ate inside the car, so it had to be them. Seemed like they had quite a party inside my car. My leather seat was damaged and my wood grain steering wheel was chipped, all of which was not there before.
Sad to see law enforcement working together with criminals to exploit honest citizens. The most I can do now is expose this scam.
Avoid them at all costs and don’t trust the police in the area.

Our car broke down out of town. He was the only company that would provide prompt and professional service in the area on a Sunday. We left the car unattended and he delivered it to the local car dealership without incident. He even followed up with an additional call when he finished the job.

I can’t believe what I was charged to get my vehicle back. I had been towed for leaving my car at a business overnight… fine. It was towed 6 miles and was on their lot for less than 24 hours.
Care to guess what my charges were? $ 180, and it had to be cash (shady tax avoidance). $ 180 is 3 times what I paid to have my ½ ton pickup truck towed 20 miles just this summer! What a racket.
Also, the owner’s son bragged to me when I was retrieving my car that his company had exclusive rights to tow cars for the city. Sounds like there’s some payoffs going on. If you were to see the busted old, broken down trucks they use, you’d find it hard to believe that the city of Kalamazoo would have these guys do their towing.

I park my car at a carport at my apartment complex, especially during the winter. Today, I called T&J to report that another car was parked behind me, and that the driver had abandoned it. I asked them to tow the vehicle. The towing company representative rudely rattled off some unintelligible explanation then, before I had a chance to respond, hung up on me.
Now, I understand that today was one of the worst snowstorms in Michigan history. I also understand – now – that the towing company cannot impound a vehicle unless a staff member from the apartment complex makes the call (I only understand this because the second towing company I called, while still declining to tow the vehicle, took the time to graciously explain to me that they were busy, and what I needed to do next; their name is McDonald’s Towing, and I respect them immensely). However, whoever is in charge of T&J Towing needs to work on their customer service. This could have been easy money in their pocket but, instead, they chose to be flippantly rude and condescending. If the rep did not have time to answer my question, he should have let the call go to voicemail. If he did have time, he should have waited for my response.
This is a jerk company. Its rating by the Better Business Bureau is well deserved, as is the online criticism it has been receiving for years. They filed for bankruptcy in 2010, after a frivolous lawsuit against someone who spoke out ended in a no-​payment settlement. After today, I hope they come after me; I have more than enough energy to make sure they go out of business.

These guys sound like a pack of criminals, towing people’s legally parked cars and then holding them for ransom. Even worse, they’re suing a college student for $ 750,000 for daring to speak out against them.
Todd H is right: they’re rated an F with the BBB for unresolved complaints related to these alleged actions. Stay away.

This company just sued a college student at Western for starting a group opposing their practices. This does not seem fair or ethical. The kid posted his real name, why not contact him in person and resolve this without threatening a defamation suit of 750,000 dollars.
