The Kalamazoo Public Library features a range of reference materials and educational resources on various topics. It is an independent district library that serves more than 115,000 people. The library employs a staff of over 80 people and has nearly five locations. It coordinates an early childhood literacy program. The library provides access to an online local and community information database. The Kalamazoo Public Library s laboratory operates computer training programs. The library has been in operation since 1860 and maintains meeting rooms. It features up to 400,000 books. The Kalamazoo Public Library maintains a collection of magazines, newspapers and photographs.

History

Established in 1870.

The Friends Bookstore sells gently-​used books at bargain prices. Our prices are hard to beat. Most books are priced between 50¢ and $ 2.50. The store, located in the lower level of Central Library in downtown Kalamazoo, is clean, bright, and well organized. You can browse books by subjects. We have a huge selection of fiction and a wide range of nonfiction, as well as an extensive selection of children’s books. We also sell gently-​used CDs, DVDs, audio books and VHS tapes.
