With over 50 years of combined experience, the team at Chapman Automotive has been providing auto repair services to the Kalamazoo area. At Chapman Automotive, we go above and beyond, getting to know you and always working to do our best for you, while maintaining a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Our available services include but are not limited to: brakes and clutch, electrical system, exhaust system, engine services, heating and air conditioning, and axle/​cv joint repair. History

Established in 1992.

Chapman’s owner, John Chapman, has 35 years of experience working on motor vehicles and is a Certified ASE Master Automobile Technician and a Michigan Department of State Certified Motor Vehicle Mechanic. Fresh out of the Military himself as a mechanic, John went into business with his Uncle at his Automotive repair shop for 5 years until he was able to launch his very OWN business in 1997 here on Douglas Avenue.

John kept his most trusted employee in this venture, Jeffrey Orr, who is also a bonded, Certified ASE Master Automobile Technician and a Michigan Department of State Certified Motor Vehicle Mechanic. Jeffrey has been with Chapman Automotive from it’s beginning days, and has been working alongside John for over 20 years.

The last 17 years here at 1511 Douglas Avenue have been some of the most rewarding years of my life. I have loved getting to personally know my customers and seeing all the new faces roll in as well! I could not imagine doing anything else, thanks to you!

I began working on cars when I was only 12 years old and found a passion in doing so. Nothing made me feel quite so fulfilled. My love of working on cars eventually lead me into other avenues, such as racing.

I have been racing for over 15 years and love the thrill of it. I have been racing all different kinds of classifications at Kalamazoo Speedway for over 10 years. I currently race Super Late Models and the occasional Enduro. I perform all the maintenance and repairs alongside my Pit Crew, so they don’t have all the fun!

I also have a passion for muscle cars! I have been a lover of older muscle cars all my life. I have owned my fair share of all kinds of them, and love the challenge they present!
