Underwhelmed. Several menu items were out. We ate our entrees(which took 30+ minutes) before the appetizer was brought to us. The poke bowl was mediocre, Keiki burger was overcooked and it took forever to get service for the return of food we never received.

Usually this place is great, just depends in how busy they are, personally I love the burgers and they have good beer. The servers are pleasant to deal with. Kinda pricey. Great happy hour.

I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the awesome food at the Windward bar. Their fried pickles, kimchee beef sliders(with pepper Jack cheese, sriracha aioli, kimchee and nalo greens) and the kimchee rueben are great. Sometimes I’m just wanting a quick bite and this place fits the bill. They have a great rotating beer selection and bloody Mary’s that have bacon. One of the better ones I’ve had on island. It’s a one stop shop for me. I love this place.

Used to love this place! The food is good but the service is crap. The first time I came here I would have given the place 5 stars but after the past few times here I am quite disappointed and it seems as though I’m not the only one. Sorry! Prove to me again that this place rocks

$ 5 pizza and beer special? In Hawai’i? Count me in. Happy Hour 4 – 7 pm. Great friendly service and a fun atmosphere.

Terrible. If you want to waste a few hours then go here. Slow service and after waiting a long time for a burger it comes raw inside. I sent it back and said no thanks. We finished eating our salad which was nothing fancy at all. Sad because there are limited choices in Kailua. Good beer selection so come here for that and maybe some fries if you have time

Big fan of WF, but menu kind of stale and service spotty on a busy day, not servers fault, just usually short staffed

Way too loud to be enjoyable. Beer and drink selection is too hipster/snobby, like everything Whole Foods it’s way more expensive than the actual worth. If you want to drink and eat I recommend driving to one of the many nearby trendy eateries instead.

I have yet to have a bad experience at this establishment. Great beer/wine selections to pizza/burgers and fries. All of that and at a very affordable price. How can you beat that? I will definitely be going back.

$ 1 oysters on Aloha Fridays, count me in! Love coming here for a quick bite to eat or to hang with friends — super chill although it can get crowded during peak hours(aka happy hour from 4pm-7pm). Highly recommend the burger(with bacon, of course), buffalo wings, and Cajun fries!

It doesn’t seem like there is a manager for this area. The food and drink offerings are wonderful but the staffing, cleanliness, service quality and speed is completely awful. Even if it’s busy, you should acknowledge customers. A smile, nod of the head, anything to know you will get to me when you get a chance would make me feel so much better. Every visit here, if there are empty tables inside or out, they’re filthy and there’s trash everywhere, dishes stacked all over the creation. I understand this could happen at busy times but literally every single time I come here it’s like this? Staff more people! At least twice of several visits, I’ve walked away before being served because of being ignored for way too long and because of the filth. Get it together!

We have been here several times and like it despite the fact that the service is terrible/non-existent. If you want food or a beer, you will have to go inside to the bar and order it yourself. They will bring it out to you but the dirty plates may sit there for hours. Service is just not a major focus of this place. I cannot fathom why but clearly, given the fact the place is consistently full, no one cares. What we like is the ability to sit outside with a beer and some bar food and the company of our doggie. The beer menu is good and the food menu has several vegetarian items. *Beer snob comment: the carbonation at times is off and some beers are served too cold. The taro burger is tasty, the fries and onion rings are decadent. You can go inside the store and purchase other items and sit at the tables as well. Anything goes and we like.

Where everyone from Kailua seems to hangout! Need a pint? Get it here! With a rotating selection of beers on tap, that’ll make any beach day complete! Wanna catch the game while in a clean AC bar? No better place! Wanna snack on some pupus or a grass Fed beef burger? Pull up a chair!

Disclaimer: I am not racist. I don’t care what race or ethnicity people are. Their character is what I’m concerned about. If you’re not Caucasian, you’re not entitled any service here. See Lisa T’s review on this place. I second it. It’s bad enough that I had to drive to «Cry“lua to shop at Whole Foods & deal with the Prius drivers. But to be disregarded and blatantly ignored at a bar, final straw. Came here for happy hour and left bitter and sour. In over an hour, I was served one beer, no servers to take our food order, walked over to the pizza counter get something in my stomach and had to get up to pay at the bar. All the while, 2 separate parties of white people were catered to and served attentively. They treated an Asian lady & her husband the same way they did to us. Wtf?! I am not going to contribute to the pay checks of individuals who only want to cater, go above and beyond for white people & treat the rest of the ethnicities so lowly. So disgusted and disappointed that this place is part of Whole Foods. NEVERGOINGBACK!

I originally gave this place 3 stars as the beer selection was good and the service was okay. Came back again tonight after seeing the selection, especially with the Maui Brewing tap takeover. We arrived and were excited to find a couple of tables open, although there were no seats at the bar. We figured go ahead and sit where the servers will pass by for sure since last time we were at the far end of the bar area. Our server came over and took our drink orders, didn’t offer us a menu and when I asked about happy hour, she simply stated«Only Kona Longboard». Um okay, I thought there was a special for happy hour, but no idea what it was. I gave up that idea and ordered my original drink choice of the Goose Island’s Sofie beer since I don’t often see it on tap. My partner in crime had pre-ordered half a dozen oysters from the seafood department, and he was nice enough to bring it over to us. Jin asked for lemons when we put in our drink orders. When the server brought our beers, I asked for a menu to decide what to eat. She forgot the lemons. 10 minutes went by, and the bar had begun to fill up. A family of 4 sat down next to us, as did a couple on the same long table. The server came back, took their drink and food orders and breezed on by us. «Okay, maybe it’s just busy». The family received their order, and again we are passed up. She goes to every other table around us, despite making eye contact with me several times and attempts to get her attention. She went to several tables that arrived well after us, and they had their orders taken and fulfilled. I finally get tired of waiting and went to order slices of pizza from the counter as well as ask for the lemons since it was for the oysters. We get our pizzas(from the employee working the ovens, not our waitress), finish our beers, and still no waitstaff comes by. Finally after at least 45 minutes, a male waiter came by to collect our plates and asked if we wanted another beer. I asked for another one, only to be told it was sold out. I asked if he could come back as I just needed a minute to decide. He agreed and took my plates. All the while, the table next to us and those around us were able to put in another order of food(oysters) receive their oysters, second round of beers and additional sauces(all brought separately mind you). Realizing that if I wasn’t of a certain group, the service seemed to lack, I gave them a couple more minutes to take our order or at least check on us. No luck! Extremely frustrated, we went to the counter to ask for our check. Our waitress acknowledged us and asked«Oh, you’re closing out?» Uh yeah! You did nothing for us aside from bring us 1 beer each. She didn’t charge us for the pizza, but we were honest and informed her of the pizza order. Didn’t tip… walked away. Usually I’m a chill person who enjoys a good beer and good food, but the service here is horrible. We noticed that a certain group seems to get special attention during service as they would have all 3 servers doting on them, while we could not get anyone’s attention. Never felt discriminated before until tonight… #26 of 1002015

With the best happy hour in the windward side, you just can’t go wrong with Whole Foods. Happy hour(3 – 6 M-F, 4 – 7 Sat) is a pint of beer(several options from which to choose) AND a slice of pizza for only $ 5! The beer selection is fabulous, and the food options are great, whether you order off the menu or grab the«pay-by-weight» off the hot/cold bar. You have the option of sitting at the bar, indoor tables, or outdoor tables and couches on the lanai. Be warned though, when sitting anywhere other than the bar, the service can be slow and sporadic at best. At the bar, the bartenders never let your glass get empty; so if you see an open stool at the bar, grab it! It’s definitely a fun place to go for good beer, decent pizza, cheap prices, and am array of interesting people to meet.

Okay… I love Whole Foods. If I made more money, I would shop here more often. Since it is pretty pricey, I will take advantage of their happy hour specials. This bar often has great specials to include pizza, burgers, and beers. I used to come here to get the pizza special when I could get wine with it, but it only comes with beer now… bummer. Their pizza is okay. It’s not the best, but it’s pretty good. It’s more of a snack, than anything else. I’m always still hungry after I have a slice. I will sometimes opt to just grab food from the hot bar and bring it over to the bar to eat with friends who may be dining at the bar. The last time I visited, I tried their goat cheese wontons, which were really tasty. I would get them again except, you don’t get too many in a serving. My friend also ordered the sushi and the orange chicken so we could all share… except…there isn’t much to share. Portions are tiny, which is a shame because it’s a bar, and you will probably go there with friends, hoping to share some pupus… but you can’t because the portions are too small. I will have to agree with some of my fellow Unilocalers. Service here is not the best. I get that this is not a restaurant, but if you are going to have servers, I would recommend some additional training. This Whole Foods is particularly busy and it would be worth exploring. Our waitress would disappear for a long time. I think I would prefer to go back to the olden days, when I just ordered my food, took my number to my table, and have it brought out without the fuss of placing an order with a waitress. I’ll be back for happy hour because I think it’s a good deal. I just have to bring someone along so they can drink my beer.

When: Sun. Aug. 31st6:30 pm With the recent renovations, the bar area and Beer Selections have expanded… around 24 Craft Beers are available on tap. We were not adventurous enough to try anything on the menu, other than the ready made pizza. A party of 4 left a full plate of chicken nugget or strips, behind, so that pretty much should be a sign of the food. Anyways, 4 Beers and 4 Slices of pizza came out to $ 33. Normally, beers alone would cost that much. My tip for the Windward Bar, is to sit at the bar so, you can receive attentive service from the bartender. Just from the observation of the servers, they did not appear to be too enthusiastic, which probably explains all the below average ratings by Unilocal Nation.
