I always get so excited when a new place opens up in Kailua! And this was no exception! When I found out everything was going to be healthy and fresh I made a date with my girlfriend and we met up for an early dinner! Location: Strip mall across from Macys/Wholefoods Parking: Lots of parking if you’re not coming at lunch Ambiance: No seating inside, just an order counter and there is outdoor seating. The pictures are bright and colorful Service: Staff is friendly What we Ordered: She ordered an ahi tuna wrap and I ordered braised beef with kimchi sandwich. The ahi tuna wrap 3⁄5: Nice chunks of lightly seared Ahi tuna with some normal wrap fillings and a green spinach wrap. Seasoned great. If I had to compare it to the Ahi Tuna Salad you can get at Aloha Salads… i’d go with the salad. my braised beef sandwich tasted like something you could make from a crock pot and I would give it a 2⁄5. What you should order: Ahi Tuna Wrap Since my first visit I have not gone back… not sure if I would considering my other options. I would rather opt for Nalu health bar, paniolos or aloha salads.

came in fairly sketched out because i don’t really trust healthy food, but the salmon wrap i got was very good, there is a lot going on in it, like mix of flavors and mix of temperatures but it comes together for a very healthy, filling and delicious meal. Great for after or even before the pillbox hike

Heard lots about this place and finally got to try it after completing a sunset Lanikai hike! And let me say, I had a pleasant experience. Jose, the person who took our order, was wonderful and very friendly. He even suggested different items on the menu for us because we were first timers. Because of the excellent service, it gave way to me enjoying my food even more. As for the food, it reminded me of a way better Blazin’ Steaks. Not only were there way more choices to get, but there were also healthier alternatives one can settle for. I chose to personalize my own plate, with my protein as the angus steak, alongside with the mashed cauliflower(my personal favorite), garden veggies, and some chile sauce(also another personal favorite). Everything complimented each other well, and I loved how there was texture and color to the food. Made it taste even better. The only downside I’d have to say was the fact that the place was very small. It’s understandable because it’s one of those cafeteria-like«order and go» type of eateries. But because of it’s popularity, customers were crammed into the minuscule space with little to no elbow room while waiting in line to order. Other than that, I am a fan and I’ll definitely be back again!

Wow! Healthy and delicious fast food! The surf and turf was phenomenal. The staff was pleasant and friendly. They helped me pair sauce selections with each entrée. The food had great flavor(ahi and sirloin) and the price wasn’t bad for the high quality ingredients. A great choice.

Tried the other locations and so thought I would give this one a try. It is on par with the others very good food… not their fault but parking is a nightmare and they are a little pricy compared to some of the other options

Super delicious and healthy! Fresh made locally sourced food in Hawaii. Prices are super fair and again, delicious local food made healthy! The chicken with citrus sauce was on point!

The crew at Grylt has done it once again! :) I ordered the Surf and Turf platter with fresh kale salad and grilled veggies-(didnt want the starch today), and it was ready within minutes and oh so ONO delicious! The customer service was on point as usual too. Mandy and Destiny pay attention right when I walk in the door and are always cheerful and eager to serve. I like to eat healthy and they take care of me whenever I’m too busy to make something myself! Mahalo Grylt Kailua!

One word: DISAPPOINTED! This place is extremely overpriced. I’m assuming because of the location. We ordered three plates, one of which is named Slammin Steak Platter. Let me tell you, it wasn’t slammin and it wasn’t a platter. They should just call it a steak plate. We also ordered an Angus Steak and Poke Bowl. I asked for the steak be cooked medium, mind you she wasn’t even gonna ask. I noticed that when they threw it on the grill it was already cooked… so it’s like they’re just warming it up. For the poke bowl, looks like we only had ¼ cup of fish. They chopped it real small and had more rice/lettuce than anything. Now if the food was at all tasty I wouldn’t have a problem paying more but it was definitely lacking. The best part of the meal was the refillable coke. Let me tell you, I made that one worth it!!! Save yourself a huge disappointment and take your money somewhere else.

Sorry. We were severely disappointed so I wanted to give the warning I wished I’d been given. It looks from the reviews like people have better luck with the wraps and sandwiches. If I went back(which is doubtful now) I’d go for that option. If you go for the plate, you get(1) a small amount of meat, which is alright depending on the type,(2) very lackluster veggies, and(3) a starch choice(the cauliflower was pretty gross and I eat anything). All of this was not a small chunk of change. All in all, the power plates are not worth it. But the employees were great. I guess the takeaway is to just not get your hopes up about great imported vegetables in Hawaii and don’t invest too much in your meal at this place.

Yum! It’s a great concept and it seems they are doing well executing it. $ 24 got us lunch for two with leftovers to spare(we had our own water to drink). The meat is moist and flavorful, everything is pretty healthy, and the staff seems to like their jobs. I think they could do a better job showing prices on their menu board, only ½ the items have a price listed. Also it’s a bit tricky slicing the pieces of meat in a styrofoam container.

I ordered the surf and turf. It came with 5 pieces of thinly cut steak and a small piece of salmon for $ 15! My steak was medium well and still tough? The salmon was pretty good. I got the mashed cauliflower with my meal and it was more like oatmeal? Over blended would be my guess. I don’t mind paying more for good food and I’d take quality over quantity any day but this place is over priced for it’s portion and quality! After I placed my order the cashier asks me to wait outside because my order might take a while. I sit at a table in front of the restaurant and after waiting about 10min she walks out and hands me my plate without a fork, knife, or napkin so I ask where my utensils were? She responds utensils are inside on the counter. Um, if you ask me to wait outside and you’re bringing me my plate, why not just bring the fork and napkin too? I’ve tried 2 of their other locations and they’re a lot better than this 1! Times supermarket steak plate is way better!

Love this place. Good for a nice healthy meal. You can get one of their proteins(steak, chicken, salmon) with a starch(rice, mashed potatoes, etc) and a salad(kale, garden, etc). The steak was very tender, tasty and flavorful, and they have different sauces for it. It’s a fast-casual restaurant, very small with no indoor seating but there’s tables/chairs right outside for dining. I will definitely be back.

Needing a quick bite we decided to try this spot out as they seemed to have a fairly good selection and it was pretty healthy looking. Apparently everything is local and the veggies are all aquaponically grown. Pretty cool as its as fresh as you can get. While the selection wasn’t vast, it was decent, we ordered a Summer Baby Kale salad with added chicken and a Grilled Ahi wrap. The salad was good and the chicken was tender and not dry. The dressing was delicious! I would buy that in a bottle and use it on everything. Hubby said the ahi was not as spicy as he is used to but was still good. Service was super friendly and quick. They also give a military discount with free drinks which is pretty generous I think! Would go again.

Was coming back from Kailua beach and decided to stop by and get some dinner. Mexico Lindo had a line and my kid didn’t feel like Indian so figured what the hell, lets give GRYLT a shot is new and never seen the place(shows how often I go to Kailua:). Got two wraps, the steak and brisket, and a Greek salad. The wraps, well what to say, they were that forgettable. Both tasted near identical and were basically bland mush with hints of whatever sauce they put on each one. Were edible but that isn’t saying much. The Greek salad, well that’s an odd one. First off it’s not a Greek salad as it has lettuce in it but let’s ignore that for a second and focus on the fast it has balsamic dressing also which even for Americanized Greek food is a WTF. That being said if I ignore the mislabeling it was actually a pretty damn good salad though could have used a few canned anchovies in it also. Wouldn’t repeat for anything but the salad; will get that again sometime(and only that). It’s also why it gets three stars instead of two.

I’m so happy there is a GRYLT in Kailua now! I always go to their location in Manoa when I am in that area and welcome this healthly take-out option on the Windward side. GRYLT always has fresh, delicious food that is sourced locally. I particularly enjoy the mashed cauliflower, wedge salad and braised beef. So ono & guilt free!

I’ve been to the Kahala Grylt a bunch of times so I was really happy to see they opened a location in Kailua. It’s about time that town got some more food options besides all the salad bars and Asian eateries. I was a bit disappointed however in my dinner last night. Outside they were handing out samples of steak which made me want to get a plate for dinner. The steak was grilled perfectly and was a medium rare. However when I ordered my own plate the steak was well done and on the fatty side. I was already home with my to-go order by the time I realized so I couldn’t ask for a fresher piece. It looked like they had grilled it earlier in the evening and it had been sitting under a heating lamp cooking more. I was disappointed in the lack of freshness and bland flavor. Not a good start to a new location Grylt.

This new grylt location just opened up in kailua, between times and lanikai juice. It’s a tiny space with no seating inside, but I junk most people take their food to go from here anyways. The menu is the same, but the presentation is a little confusing. Because the area inside is so small, it gets crowded and stuffy if there are many customers waiting for food. I ordered the steak sandwich and thought it was pretty good for the $ 10 I spent on it. My one complaint is that the garlic aioli tastes just like mayo and it was slathered all over my sandwich. Next time I’ll ask to hold the mayo… I mean garlic aioli. I think prices are a little high for what you get and the service was just alright. The cashier was a little awkward and one of the people working in the back looked pissed. Everything culminated to just an A-OK experience for me. I probably won’t be back in the near future, especially because it’s new and there were a lot of people when I went. I don’t really like waiting for my food while feeling stuffy and hot and a little claustrophobic.

Got here at 7pm and the line was out the door. I was relieved when it moved quickly. Ordered my plate, and had a fork in hand within 5 minutes. Staff was friendly, service was excellent. Ordered the surf and turf, with steak and salmon, grilled veggies, white rice, and I got bold with the Asian fusion sauce. The steak was thick cut, but slightly underseasoned. Which may not be a problem for some. It seems they cook medium-well by default, but you can ask for a different temperature. The salmon was delicious. Juicy and well-seasoned. Overall my favorite part of the meal. Grilled veggies weren’t too fresh since I got the last of the batch, but they were still tasty. Especially the bell peper, which retained its crunch. A proper alternative to leafy salad(Grylt’s manoa lettuce looked fresh and crisp, I was torn). Overall, great experience. However, I feel the portions are slightly skimpy for a $ 16 plate. Other Steak spot in Kailua are much cheaper, albeit lower quality. Which makes Grylt and excellent spot for a quality lunch/dinner, rather than a frequent stop for grub.

Ate here at the new location the other day with my wife and son. All I can say is GREATFOOD! And great customer service as well. Right when you walk in the door they all greet you with that Aloha spirit. And treat you just like you were family. IF you are looking for healthy good food with a short wait time, then this is the place to go. Grylt has a great rep for fresh, local, and healthy food and I can say I am very happy with the food I got. I had the steak plate with potatoes. Best steak I have had in a long time. My wife had the steak wrap. She didn’t say anything the whole time she ate it. I guess that shows how good it was. My son had the kids meal with chicken, white rice and oranges. And he ate the whole thing. I am very happy with the food here and will definitely be back very soon. Thanks again Grylt.

First in the door, first to review the new Kailua Grylt location grand opening! They got a rough start with some of the Kailua community because the landlords didn’t renew the Peppers place lease. So when it was announced they were the next tenants people went onto their Facebook page and were really mean even leaving bad reviews. Kailua has passionate people but I thought that was unacceptable, and felt bad for them. But most of us in Kailua still have Aloha in our hearts and we know this is just how it goes here. Peppers took over a place 15 years ago too. Don’t get me wrong, I loved Peppers but unfortunately I cannot eat food like that anymore for health reasons. Grylt is healthy fast food. They do great plate lunches with healthy side order choices and the best part is the vegetarian selections. The food is without hormones and the portions are perfect(they weigh their portions so for those who keep track it’s hugely helpful) They allow you to do substitutions and they are open to customizations. I had the braised beef wrap. I come from a family of chefs and their specialty is braised beef so I’m super picky about it. I was surprised that I loved it! It’s tender and juicy and the marinade was well balanced and unique. Their Cauliflower mash is soooo good! I’m going to crave that, I already know. I’ve heard people say they feel the prices are expensive, but considering plate lunches in the area like at Times or nearly $ 9, they are only a few dollars more and their food is much Fresher & healthier. The staff are friendly, and the owners are a really nice local family. He even volunteered his personal truck to help with our next Kapaa Quarry Rd clean up. Be prepared that while it’s labeled as fast food, it does take time to prepare which is expected for fresh healthy food. It’s clear they care about what they send out so be patient and appreciate your meal is being well prepared. Welcome Grylt! My body is happy you are here!
