My 7 year old needed to draw blood for an allergy test. When I told him he was getting a «poke» as we call it, he shut himself like a clam. This Clinical Lab is located in the Kailua Medical Proffesional Building near Cinnamon’s. We walked in and they helped us right away. We waited only a couple minutes till they called us. My son was starting to reverse but I kept trying to reassure him it would be fast. He sat down but was trying to hide his arm. The technician spoke in a caring voice and reassured him as well. Then another technician came in to help. I’m sure they see this all the time where a young child is starting to freak out. She put on all her gloves and accessories and proceeded to help my son stay still during the process. Both women were very calm and patient. They asked what his favorite character was and tried to take him mind off of what was happening. It did go fast and son was relieved when it was over. It was so great to have people who are so patient and understanding especially when your kid is getting poked by a needle and not in the finger anymore. Great experience here.

I personally hate drawing blood. I will get wheezy on first sight of blood, more so if it’s mine *shiver*! As I establish a new doctor relationship here on Oahu I went to get my first physical from our family doctor. I was told by my husband and mom that I would be needing to get my blood drawn. I was anxious and I knew it was coming at the end. «Please bring this over to the Clinical Lab and they’ll draw some blood for a few more tests.» Ugggh! Okay… Thankfully it was right across the street from my doctors office and the McDonalds. So I didn’t have to drive anymore and I can grab a little snack, cause I’m hungry! I walked right in and it is empty. I guess everyone preparing for hurricane Iselle… I was immediately greeted by the two young ladies at the counter. They took my paperwork and«special delivery» and had me sitting in the room to be ready to get drawn. The young Asian lady who would be drawing my blood has fair warning that I hate needles and I could get queasy. She talked to me about what I was going to do today and just got my mind off of the amount of tubes she would be filling up. She was very quick and happy enough to joke around with me as I would normally get when I’m nervous. All in all a good experience. I didn’t even feel queasy, considering I didn’t eat breakfast… yay!

A++! Never knew they existed! My dr always sent me to DLS, but they got flooded a couple of weeks ago. I really needed to get my labs done, so I walked right next door, yes they are the very next door! Not alot of Ppl know that! It was pretty packed with patients already, im assuming the flood, but they still greeted me with a smile and let me know that they’d be with me in a little. After each patient they happily thanked everyone for waiting and pulled patients in quickly. There were two girls, I think one was learning the process because she kept asking the other girl how to label, she didn’t need help drawing blood though, she knew how to do that. But the other girl answered all her questions while checking patients in, and drawing patients blood, and she was so cheery! It was such a junk morning for me, I didn’t eat, barely slept, now I have to get my labs?! I walked in grouchy, but after their immediate hospitality, I didn’t mind waiting! They even offered newspaper, and a bunch of great magazines for my liking… im definitely going back! Very professional, friendly and experienced! I heard quite a few patients say that they were hard to draw, and both girls said, not to worry, they’re in good hands! Next thing you know, the patient is walking out saying, thank you, im coming back to you! Clinical Laboratories of Hawaii!

Dont expect to get quick service, even if you are the only person in the lobby. You will need to wait for the staff to find fax numbers, and be sure to look patient as they talk about whos turn it is for break and what diabetes inducing fast food restaurant they will be going to. After all of that waiting and pressure on your kidneys from the expectation of having to pee, you will stand by the bathroom and they will give you a long ass speech, but in sure that needs be done. I had already lost the urgency to pee.
