Voyagers of the Pacific

This is a really good Luau. Been to this one twice now over the years. I really liked this one we attended.
Easy to book on line, which I did through Voyagers of the Pacific. I got a discount for doing it on line. I did it long before we arrived in Hawaii. It fills up fast as they do not have it every night.
I loved the table we got right up front and to the side.
When you first arrive you check in. Your name is on the list. Then they greet you with a shell Lei and you get your photo taken with the Ocean behind you. The real Ocean, not a back drop.
Then they send you to an open bar. It is a bit like a Wedding!
There is a bit of entertainment. Then they allow you to come up to see them remove the Pig from the imu (the underground oven) .Then they send you up to the food line. Before hand they explain all the food, that way if you are not familiar with Island food you know what you are eating. You should try everything just a small bit, or you will never know if you like it or not.
The food was very good and lots of different variety. I did not see any POKI but, I know it is expensive right now.
The food was very good and they serve you and get it cleaned up fast as the show is starting.
Before the show starts, they are teaching Hula and Poi Poi a New Zealand Tradition that the Hawaiian Arts have really embraced in the last 20 years.
The show was fantastic! The dancers work really hard. There is a live Band, which is always cool!
If you have never been, I highly recommend it. If it has been a long time since you have been, check it out again. It is the true essence of the beginning of Hawaii tourism.

Great show!!! Great setup, activities, dancers, music and open bar (included in price) while they get everyone seated. The MC was perfect. Very funny but not too cheesy. Once the show starts you won’t look away, not even for a free refil for the delicious Mai tai because the show is fantastic. The food was pretty good but not the highlight of the evening for sure. But to be fair? I was observing lent and couldn’t taste the Kalua pork. They did have a fish choice that was good but nothing to write home about. I usually have more things to critique but I really can’t think of any. It was worth the price. You can find discount tickets online. Arrive early to choose your seats (although I think all if the seats were good). You can also pay for preferred seating

My first and only experience with the so called «luau show». Bought the tickets through the Expedia counter at our resort. So that was easy enough.
Yes, it’s kinda cheesy. There are a LOT of ‘ALLLOOOOOHHHHAAAA!!” being shouted from the MC. I expected that. Regardless of the cheese, I had fun. That’s the important part.
There is an open bar, which is GREAT, but the line does get really long. I mainly had the mai tai, which the bartender tops off with rum if you want. I wanted. So I did. Impressivly enough, even when the line wasn’t super crazy long, I didn’t find myself drinking a lot. I will say, it might have been the fact I was exhausted that night and it was SUPER hot outside, but I only managed around 6 mai tais before the night was over. Not bad, but a little disappointed in myself for not drinking more. That being said, the punch bowls are NOT crazy strong, hence the top off.
Food wise, it’s not bad. It’s an all you can eat buffet, so you can go for seconds. However, I did get full my first plate, so I never went back for more. The kahlua pork was pretty good, but not emu cooked. Everything else was fairly standard, it’s a dinner with a show, so it’s to be expected.
The show was AWESOME. I loved the Samoan fire dance at the end. And since we had front row seats, I felt the heat big time. The rest of the dancers were all very talented, and they did an array of Tahitian, Samoan, New Zealander, and of course Hula dances.
I had fun, and while I don’t think I’ll ever go to another luau again, I would recommend this one.

Had an absolute amazing time at the luau with my family. For many of us it is our first time to the big island and we wanted to experience the aloha spirit that we have herd so much about, and what better place than a luau. Unlimited food and drinks, amazing entertainment and its relatively cheap if you book in advance online, which I did. All the staff is super friendly and helpful. We got to see amazing wood cravings and learn how to make a lay. All around fun for all ages. The view is amazing its ocean front and perfect viewing to watch the sunset. If you’re wanting to see an amazing hula show and eat decilous food defiantly don’t pass this up, you will regret it if you don’t go.

Meh. Nothing to write home about. We booked this luau based on positive reviews and the proximity to where we were staying. For whatever reason, the night we attended the luau, it was not held on the beach, but rather «indoors» underneath the patio. (This was NOT weather related… no rain in the forecast). So, we didn’t get to witness the «unearthing of the pua’a from the underground oven» as promised on their website. There was no «premium» seating offered, because of the location, but still many tables said «reserved» on them. Plastic tables and chairs lined up in rows, seating approximately 8 – 10 to a table.
My kids enjoyed making the lei bracelet, and the artist doing the tattoos was really good. However, be warned that the tattoos are drawn and colored with Sharpies — my kids had permanent marker smears all over their clothes by the end of the evening.
The food was decent and open bar was nice. Entertainment was good, but definitely seemed to be more of a stage production than traditional hula. Apparently, we also didn’t get the stellar fire dancer as others had reviewed, because the guy on our night kept dropping the baton in the sand (several times). All in all, and experience to check off the «things to do in Hawaii», but I wouldn’t do it again.

I’ve never been to a luau so this review is based solely on what I expected and what I experienced.
We previously bought our tickets so all we had to do was wait in line, easy peasey. I bought a lei for an extra $ 6, but I know we were only a quarter of the line and they said I bought the last one, so that was a bummer for everyone else who didn’t get one.
There were two crafty tables set up: one was lai making, so they taught you how to make a lai bracelet and the other table had two of the male dancers giving «tattoos». They were both pretty fun!
During the luau we got to eat a nice hearty meal, there was an open bar, dessert and coffee. Then there was traditional dancing and they ended the luau with a fire dancer. It was a really fun night!

Since my boyfriend was a first time tourist at Hawaii, we had to go to a luau to finish off our visit to Kona. We didn’t know that most luaus were on the Tues-​Thurs-​Sat schedule so luckily we found out that Voyagers of the Pacific had one on a Friday! We were able to buy tickets online a couple hours before the luau. I think there was a 15% discount if you buy it online beforehand!
The food, entertainment, bartender (open bar from 5−7pm and he tops off your Mai Tais with more rum!), and crowd were all great. It was a bit hot earlier in the evening so if you aren’t sitting in the shade (limited seats) then you should definitely bring a hat and sunscreen! The only thing that was really terrible was the check-​in process. The line was extremely long and super slow! They need to have more than one person checking in the pre-​paid tickets. Forreal.
Overall, we had a great time and would recommend this luau to anyone visiting Kona!

The bar man happily topped off the mai tais with extra rum, the emcee was fun, the food was good, the show was entertaining and the Samoan fire dancer was an amazing world champion. Even the staff at our next resort on Maui said, «yeah, he’s something special to see.»
I’m deducting a star for the long, slow check in. Surely a way can be found to make that part of the process speedier and more efficient. My vacation time is precious and valuable. Let’s not recreate traffic on I-​210, please.

This is a great luau for the price. It has a nice setting right on the beach. They have an open bar for the first two hours which is a lot nicer than trying to figure out how many drink tickets u need to use to get each drink. They also put on a real good show and everyone around was happy with the food. The only negatives are that it’s a little small, so no space to go for a walk about, and I only saw one activity, which are good for keeping the kids entertained. I’ve done a lot of luaus and recommend this one, it was a great value.
