History
Established in 2012.
Tides of Change Research and Conservation was started with the intention to help promote ocean education and conservation. Our ecotourism activities are lead by a trained marine biologist, who will point out rare and cryptic animals, identify creatures you are curious of, and show you Hawaii’s reefs in a new light. We are passionate about protecting our reefs and educate visitors through hands on experience snorkeling, free-diving, and scuba diving around Maui.
Funds generated from ecotourism and our sister company Hoku Kai Creations are used to purchase research equipment, conduct marine resource monitoring, community events (i.e. beach clean-ups, educational activities), and to promote ocean conservation.
Our goal is to engage the local community in managing their near-shore resources an to educate visitors to ensure the future of Hawaii’s reefs and their inhabitants! Thanks for your support and together we can protect our valuable ocean resources!
Meet the Business Owner
Jennifer V.
Business Owner
Aloha,
My passion for the ocean and its inhabitants lead me to pursue a degree in Marine Science and Conservation Biology at the University of Hawai’i, and on to acquiring my Master’s degree in Marine Biology in New Zealand. I have been fortunate enough to work for local non-profits and the State of Hawaii with over 10 years experience in marine monitoring and management.
Through my work I have seen the need to engage the local community in marine management and educate tourist on how to respectfully and safely experience the wonders of Hawaii’s reefs. Thus the creation of Tides of Change Research and Conservation.
I believe through hard work and dedication we can create positive change and help preserve the beauty found beneath the waves. Its time to change the tide and usher in a new respect, care, and understanding of our oceans and the valuable resources and life they hold. Thanks for checking us out and we hope to see you beneath the blue of Maui!
