I’m relatively new to Maui and didn’t know who to call when we needed our AC repaired. The first company I called couldn’t come for two weeks. After reading more reviews, I called Abco and Tom said he would call me if he could get out here today. He did, and was able to repair the unit right away! He was very knowledgeable, courteous, and very reasonably priced. Would definitely call Abco again!

I don’t normally write reviews but this experience was extremely upsetting and I hope others will heed my warning.
My rental unit needed the AC repaired. Repair guy (Ken) showed up 8hrs late. He’s blaming the rental company– rental company is blaming them. As Ken begins «repairs», he about rips the wall unit off to re-​attach the drain hose. I told him the AC works fine, it just leaks water. He insists on doing add’l repairs to the outside unit on the lanai. He brings a large tank from his truck that I later discover is freon. He recharges the outside unit and as he disconnects the tank, a large amount of gas is released that blows into the condo. I’m extremely alarmed. He ignores my initial questioning about the gas type but finally relents and says it’s harmless. I keep pressing and he says it’s freon. My eyes are now burning while I google freon side effects. I find out that short-​term exposure is quite irritating to eyes, skin and lungs. I tell Ken that freon is not harmless and he responds by laughing repeatedly. I press further that the gas is an irritant and this is not a laughing matter. Now Ken is becoming upset w/​me for complaining and threatens to leave.
Is this the Twilight Zone?
Ken phones his boss Steve calling me all sorts of bad names trying to justify why he’s walking off the job. Ken then lingers in the condo taking a call from another client. I tell him to leave. As a parting gift, he exclaims that the «island» is different and no one would fix an AC unit in less than two weeks. I doubt that.
I want to say that this was my only interaction w/​this company and Ken may be their only bad apple. But if they continue to employ people like Ken, they’re as much to blame.
At a stark contrast, the rental company patiently dealt w/​me and I was quickly relocated to a better location. They even called a day later to make sure I was still happy w/​the new condo.
Take my commentary as you will, but Ken’s unprofessionalism was so upsetting that I spent the last hour of my hawaiian vacation posting on Unilocal

Abco Air Conditioning of Maui is a real gem! I recently had 3 new wall mount air conditioners installed. Abco only took 3 days to install them and they all look great and run fabulously. I thought the price was reasonable considering all the work that needed to be done including a lot of work in the attic. Tom and his entire crew are great to work with. No detail was left undone including professional looking cleaning after they left each day. I loved that. They even painted all the outside drain pipes the color of my house. Abco air really made sure I was happy during and after the entire process. I know that if anything EVER goes wrong with my system or they need anything, Abco will be right there immediately.

Not cheap but reasonably priced, the customer service and responsiveness from this company was excellent.
Had Tom do the installation in the mix with other contractors working on my remodel which takes a lot of patience and coordination. In spite of some delays and complications due to coordinating with the other trades, Tom persevered and got the job done nicely and without adding at all to the stress of the remodel. He shows up when he says he will, takes responsibility for issues, just wants the job to be done as the client needs it.
And I love my whisper quiet Mitsubishi split AC which replaced a standard wall unit. It is so quiet I forget I have AC running.
I know that AC people in Maui are hard to get a hold of when you need them. If I ever need assistance with my unit, I am not worried that I won’t get a prompt and courteous response to my request for help. That means a lot.
