Romeo’s In Juliette

One word — wow! If this place wasn’t so far off the beaten path, they could make a killing… and they went out of business before I could finish my review. I hope they reopen in a better location.

Entering the quaint exterior of Romeo’s inspires a craving for honest and hearty food. I ordered the lasagna during lunch and first received a salad topped with homemade balsamic vinaigrette. The owner greeted us and inquired about our meal — how sweet! Next we received squares of their lasagna which is a family recipe. I ordered it without meat and there have been times I’ve been disappointed by bland lasagna that simply boasts its merits on the amount of cheese it’s filled with. Here, there was lots of flavor AND cheese. I will definitely be returning!

We always take the bike out to Juliette and when we do we always eat breakfast at Romeo’s. The atmosphere is awesome. The service is the friendliest around. We love the food. It’s the greatest place to go on a sweet ride.

Lasagna is a family recipe and it was delicate and delicious. My husband loved the sub sandwich — especially the fresh bread, which is made by the owner’s Dad, a baker and former instructor. The Elvis Cake — wow! Chocolate with peanuts and a hint of banana. This is the place to go for great food and service in Juliette!

As we live in the area and are big on supporting local, family-​owned businesses, we were excited to try out this new restaurant. We made our visit for lunch and were very impressed. The owners of Romeo’s have very smartly kept their menu limited, choosing quality over quantity, instead of over-​extending themselves. This decision has paid off in spades.
There were three persons in our party and we each chose a different entrée. I chose to have the meatball sandwich with the side of pasta salad. The sandwich was the perfect portion (approximately 6″) of crusty in-​house baked bread and meatballs, lightly sauced, with gooey melted cheese. The pasta salad was delicious and included pepperoni and in-​house made pasta with a light dressing. My daughter chose the chicken salad sandwich on, you guessed it, freshly in-​house baked rye bread with a side of Dirty brand potato chips. She enjoyed the sandwich but did make the comment that the extra mayo they put on the bread was not needed, as the chicken salad was delicious and creamy enough on its own. My son ordered the special of the day, which was the Tuscan special. It was a baked pasta (elbow) dish with beef and mozzarella cheese. I tried his entrée as well and it was delicious. It was the perfect balance of pasta, sauce, meat and cheese and I would definitely order this again. I would actually order all of this again. They also had a daily dessert special along with a selection of muffins and cookies on display. We chose the daily special of German Chocolate pie. Wow! The perfectly baked crust (no soggy bottom, yay!) held the rich, creamy fudge filling and was topped with a toasted coconut. Soooo good.
Had there been any freshly baked bread left for sale that day, I would definitely have taken a few home. We were there at around 12:30 and they were already sold out of everything except one loaf of rye (as my daughter is the only one in the house that would eat the Rye, I decided to let someone else have the pleasure of that purchase). As we were leaving, we studied the dinner menu posted outside the door. If the quality of the lunch we had is any indication, I most definitely will be returning to try out the dinner offerings. The restaurant is small and quaint, with family photos on the walls along with antique signage, but seats a good bit more than you would think looking at the outside of the building. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and hope they have continued success. And kudos on the name! How could you NOT name an Italian restaurant in Juliette Romeo’s?

Since this restaurant is located right in the middle of Juliette, Romeo’s is certainly a fun place to visit. We went there for lunch because the Whistle Stop where we’d dined on previous occasions was overflowing with tourists and we simply didn’t want to wait to get a table there. Lucky for us, Romeo’s turned out to be a great alternative.
We ended up ordering three different sandwiches that all turned out to be yummy. I personally got an Italian sub that was overflowing with cold cuts, which were a better quality than those found on most subs I’ve tried in middle Georgia. Two of our party also tried the minestrone soup, which was very hearty, almost more like a stew than a soup. We found the prices to be extremely reasonable for the quantity and quality of food we received.
Our server was a bit flaky, but very friendly. We were somewhat disappointed they were out of some menu items, but really liked the bakery treats they offer. We left with a loaf of bread and some muffins, both of which we thoroughly enjoyed. If you don’t stop for a meal, you should at least drop in to grab a loaf of bread because it is very tasty.
This place does have an extremely rustic atmosphere, but it was very clean. I consider a nice restroom critical to a good restaurant and theirs were very well set up.
If you live near Juliette or feel like taking a drive in the country I would highly recommend you give it try. We will definitely be heading back…

This is a new restaurant and off to a great start. Each meal has a homemade Italian touch. The desserts are especially delicious and different bakery treats and breads are available daily. No wine license yet, but you can bring your own for a very inexpensive corkage fee. The prices are exceptionally reasonable!
