Me and the bf went here back in December and keep meaning to go back! We went to a few other wineries in Julian and this by far was the best! Tina and Tammie were so fun and cracking jokes that made the experience that much more fun. They knew the wine and took the time to explain them to us. The other wineries we had flights at seemed drab and unwelcoming. Tip: It is a small spot so it would be nice if parents took note of this and kept their raging kids outside. Why come to a winery with kiddos anyway?

Tina and Tammi are the best! They take their time to explain every wine bottle you taste with full detail. They are friendly and make you feel welcomed! Definitely returning for more great wine and laughs!

Witch Creek Tasting Room was probably my favorite part of my first trip to Julian. We stumbled across this tasting room towards the end of the day and had fabulous service. My boyfriend and I each did a tasting and service was great. Everyone was very knowledgable and did not try to over sell anything. The wines were primarily red which we prefer but they also have a selection of hard ciders and a white and dessert wine. My boyfriend’s mom is visiting in November and we will definitely be hitting up Witch Creek!!!

Great place with a comfortable atmosphere! Both the good witch and the bad witch are informative but sarcastic and funny! Went back the next day with more friends and had a blast!

This was my very first wine tasting experience, and I don’t think anything can compare! They were friendly and answered all my questions no matter how silly they might have been. She even brought out some bleu cheese to pair with a port which was phenomenal! I came home with their hard cider and I can’t wait to go back.

Very impressed with this place. They have many varietals you don’t usually see in Southern California and they do them very well. At first I was bummed because their tasting menu was a select 5 but they ended up pouring some extras we were interested in trying. The staff was very knowledgable and offered great guidance. The Cab franc was wonderful as was the petit Verdot. I left with two bottles and will definitely be back for more.

Decent location and tasting room with fun wine tenders. They have a large selection of tasting wines which I’d say we enjoyed 4 out of the 10 they were showcasing that day. The best part of the tasting was the Black Jack and the Hard cider! absolutely delicious! we bought a few of each and have already enjoyed them. I’d say those were the items which truly made this place stand out for the tasting room of Orfila next door. Since they have a rotating schedule would stop back again to see what else they have in store.

Between the Carlsbad location and Julian I have to say Julian is the BEST! Its not even the amazing customer service they offer its the«at home» feeling they give off while you are wine tasting! Im not sure if its because I go so often but she remember this face EVERYTIME! Try not to fall in love with everything because they sell out quick! So when you find a bottle that you must have buy in BULK! They are famous for the«Apple Cider Wine» $ 15 its a great desert wine. PS when its raining and late they close early and if your lucky enough sometime you get to be locked in and have a longer tasting sescion! YAY

Today nine of my girlfriends and I went wine tasting in Julian and our first stop was the Witch Creek Wine tasting room which was an excellent choice and amazing experience. We all did their 5 tastes for $ 7. We did the recommended tasting and we were all quite impressed with their wines. There was not one wine that I did not care for each wine was delicious in its own way. My favorite was their cabernet sauvignon and their hard apple cider wine, which I bought a bottle of. Dustin was our host and he was absolutely fabulous. His customer service was outstanding and he set the bar high for our expectations from the host at the other wine tasting room we went to after. Dustin was very knowledgable about all the wines, friendly, and likable. We definitely plan on coming back to the Witch Creek Wine tasting room next time we are in Julian. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!!!

I love this winery and have been a member of their cellar club for a couple of years ago. I never liked red blends until I discovered Witch Creek. I especially love their blend: Cats Pajamas. They also have a sparking white called Screaming Kitty that I prefer over Champagne. Most of their wines have a cat theme and their labels look like hand painted water colors. One blend they are selling right now that is so delicious is the Quantum Shift. Simply fantastic! Whether you are at this tasting room or their main winery in Carlsbad you will be treated to friendly staff who are truly passionate about the Witch Creek wines they sell. I recommend if you like their works to join the cellar club. You get the standard monthly wines as well as discounts on purchases and free wine tastings!

We stopped in Julian on our way back from Borrego Springs, and chose this place on a whim out of all the tasting rooms in Julian. I’m SO glad we did. Honestly, Dustin was probably the friendliest host for wine tasting we’ve ever had(and we do a lot). Our dog was allowed in, and he even got his namesake reference(not many do). All around, he was just a great conversationalist. So we were won over by the atmosphere, but the wines were no slouch, either. There’s a lot for every taste – we ended up with a lot of sweet ones. Pomegranate & blackberry wines, as well as a Nebbiolo, a rare red. It wasn’t even on the tasting menu, and I don’t think I’ve even tasted it anywhere else. I’d definitely go back if we were in the area. And to people complaining about the décor? Um, it’s called WITCHCREEK, of course things look like Halloween year-round. *sighs, pinches bridge of nose*

Witch Creek Wine Tasting Room is simply wonderful!!! My boyfriend and I came in mid day on a Saturday and they were pretty busy. There were two girls working the counter and they were so friendly. They offer about eight wines to taste on a daily basis(they rotate which wines they have for tasting every day) and I tried two of the reds, which were both very good. I ended up buying a bottle of The Cat’s Pajamas Red Wine because I loved it so much! The bottle of wine was advertised at about $ 20, but they sold it to us for $ 17 and they didn’t even charge us for the wine I tasted. Loved it! I drank the whole bottle of wine in about two days; it was just that good! I would come back to this wine tasting room in the future. Julian does have a lot of wine tasting rooms, but consider Witch Creek while you’re in town. Cheers!

The wine was decent, but the décor was so off putting. I thought they left their Halloween décor up, but no, that’s real life. If they hire someone to decorate, it would be cooler place & it would get a better vibe going for them. Take note from Orfila.

Maybe we were there on an off day(or season) but both BFF& I felt Witch Creek wines were not bewitching & given we each had completely different tastes in wine that was saying something! Examples — BFF prefers buttery/oaky while I prefer crisp/fruity; BFF prefers leathery tanic while I prefer fruiter/full-bodied Yet, there was 1 thing we could both agree on however & that was that none of these wines hit the mark w/us We chose their full tasting of 5 varieties in both white & reds & sorry to say there wasn’t even 1 we would have considered to bring back… in fact, wasn’t even sure we could get through all 5 small tastes I understand there were a lot of wines that were sold out & there were other customers in there raving how yummy the wines were & how they were fervent members of their wine club so there truly is something for everybody But IMO, there are Alameda wineries as well as Paso Robles & Napa /Sonoma regions offering MUCH better wines at similar pricepoints so «Meh, we’ve experienced better»

Had an amazing time here! My boyfriend and I drove up from Carlsbad for my birthday and really enjoyed this place a lot. I’m not sure of his name but he was younger with dark hair and from the sound of it a great cook haha! He was very knowledgeable and extremely friendly. We left with with two bottles Primitivo and a Pomegranate wine.

Dustin, you are awesome! We loved chatting with you about high school and graduation classes! Thank you so much for the awesome conversation and sharing your tasty wines with is! We loved it and definitely plan on coming back! As for everyone else reading this post, do yourself a huge favor and stop here! The wine is original and we loved all of the ones we sampled! The staff is friendly and really knows a lot about their wines. The atmosphere is laid back and mellow. You are going to love it!

This place is cramped, nowhere to sit, the owners are a bit brash and unpleasant, and worst of all, the wine is disgusting. Such a waste of time and money.

Stuff, bled upon Witch Creek on my first trip to Julian. The sister duo is hysterical and they really take pride in their product. I was even convinced to try the port with blue cheese and it blew my mind. We took home a bottle and will for sure be back on the next trip up north!

Been to the carlsbad tasting room, and although that one is much bigger, i think I like this one. There is something really homey about this tasting room. The remaining sister that does tastings is extremely knowledgeable and easy to talk to(the other one has been retired, but there’s a rumor she may return). The wines themselves are much oakier. They make for some strong and interesting red wines. I came out feeling like my palette was stretched and intrigued. Quite a great place!
