Romancing the Stone

I used to really dislike this store, about a decade ago when it was relatively new to the mall. In fact I even worked there for a very very short time in 2005, when it was dirty and cluttered and they still sold hermit crabs out of glass tanks. The guy running it back then was completely scary. Things have changed a lot and all seemingly for the better. It’s a very different store, still offbeat but a lot more like you expect from a mall store and less like a poorly run head shop. For me that’s a positive. I know not everyone agrees. The staff has been extremely helpful and friendly on all of my visits in the past several years, and I’ve found some very fun & unique accessories and even a couple of home décor items, although my tastes don’t run much to bohemian styles they do have quite a range. It is a fun place for gift shopping and they have some excellent sales from time to time, making for far better bargains than at slightly similar novelty shops in the mall.
