Ride & Leather

Figuring that there HAD to be more than one motorcycle-​focused leather shop in Indiana (we have a LOT of bikes here!) — and furthermore that there had to be one closer than N’ville, I used Teh Googlez and found this place.
Their website is fairly uninformative. They don’t really state whether or not they are actually a retail store with retail items to buy, or if they’re just a custom house. They spend most of their time talking about how awesome their custom seat work is. But they also use the phrase «brick and mortar leather shop» so Lizz C and I figured «what the heck» and rode out to Jonesboro (71 miles round aboot) to check it out.
We’re glad we did!
They have a good selection of leather gear — jackets, vests, chaps, saddlebags — in a wide range of price points. They also carry textile jackets, as well as rain gear and cold weather gear.
One of the coolest things is that they will do alterations. Lizz C was interested in a leather vest, but she’d prefer it with an inside pocket or two — but they don’t carry a women’s vest with inside pockets. No problem, though — the extremely helpful and friendly woman manning the shop said they could just add one. They’ll also sew on patches for you. (Sewing on leather — not fun, I imagine.) We’ll probably be back to pick up that vest for Lizz at some point. :) (And one for me too.)
Their main business, they said, is custom seats, and from looking at their portfolio book, I can tell they’re good at it. We may have them re-​do our seat with their special gel.
I’d give them 5 stars — but — this is 2012, and I do feel EVERY business needs a more clear and informative website. I know, I know — they’re just «known» in the motorcycling world and so probably feel they don’t need to — BUT — new people are always picking up the motorcycling hobby, and will probably want some leather… :)
Great place, though, and we WILL be back.
