Business Owner

Jim Bingham is the President & CEO of 1st Performance Warehouse and Winner’s Circle Speed and Custom. With over 45 years of experience in the automotive aftermarket industry, Jim continues to have a passion to grow the aftermarket industry. Jim’s career began at Lang Auto Parts in 1968 and in 1970 he started Winner’s Circle Speed & Custom Inc., in 1973 he started 1st Performance Warehouse. Jim was honored by SEMA with the Chairman’s Service award in 2009, he has also been serving on the SEMA board of directors the past 3 years. Jim was part of the founding group of investors to bring the Route 66 Raceway «The First True Stadium of Drag Racing» to Joliet, IL. That led to bringing the «Chicagoland Speedway» also to Joliet. Six years ago Jim developed a consumer trade show called Race & Performance Expo which brings Manufacturers, Jobbers and Fans of the industry together in the Midwest.

Outstanding resource for custom and speed equipment.
I own a classic car restoration shop in Lockport and have been going to Winner’s Circle for over six years. I’ve never had a bad experience and never left the shop without the part that solved my problem. And each time, the staff has been patient and polite, which is not always the case when I’m looking for the hard-​to-​find components necessary to complete the projects I work on.
I restore cars from the early 1900s all the way to the eighties, so there are many times when I need a part that is no longer produced or can’t be found at the local auto parts outlet — and many times I’m on a deadline that prevents me from ordering from an outside vendor. When I have used Winner’s Circle to locate a hard-​to-​find part, I always leave with a solution.
For example, I was mounting a modern carburetor on a 1959 Pontiac 389 engine, which had a very odd-​sized spread bore intake. The carb I had purchased did not fit the intake, and I needed a solution that day because I was delivering the car the following day to the buyer. The staff at Winner’s Circle were able to find an adapter which would allow me to mount the carb I’d bought on the stock intake and still have enough clearance to shut the hood. This was not a standard request, and rather than view it as a nuisance they saw it as an interesting puzzle to solve, and then solved it.
My latest visit was for aftermarket rims and low profile tires to fit a 1966 Mustang. Not only did they calculate the correct size rim and tire for my application, they rushed the order to meet my deadline without a word of complaint. And they did it for WAY less than anyone else I’d contacted. On top of all of that, they followed up with a phone call to see how I liked the new wheels.
I’ll continue to give this shop my business for as long as we’re both around.

The owner of this store is totally rude. It’s like he’s not there to make money. He would rather treat you and his employees like they are idiots instead of doing what it takes to make things happen. I went in there with a part number that my mechanic shop wrote down for me off of the part they pulled. He treated me like I was an idiot because it was a manufactures number and not a part number that he can read. Last time I checked auto part stores could cross reference those numbers. Then he treated the kid bad who was helping me for not knowing that. The part I had was for a K& N filter which is after market. It’s not stock. He wouldn’t use my year make and model to help me. When I bought the part to upgrade my air system 10 years ago I gave the year make and model of the vehicle. Turns out when I talked to other locals around here, I guess he has a really bad reputation for treating people badly. These people do not deserve your money. They are ungrateful and rude to their customer. Reminded me of the soup nazi on Seinfeld. Makes sure you have your ducks in a row if you need a part from him or you will get treated like you are stupid.
