We are a slightly refined dive bar with a vibe & atmosphere all our own, specializing in live music of all kinds on a nearly nightly basis & beer specials aplenty.

Whether you’re into punk, Americana, hip-​hop, folk, heavy metal, experimental music or just good olé rock & roll, we have a little something for nearly everyone & every taste.

All shows are 18+ to attend, 21+ to drink (with valid ID) even occasional all age shows under special circumstances.

An open minded, non smoking venue with a beer bar & plenty of great art covering the walls.

History

Established in 2004.

For over ten years (since 2004) The Hideaway has made it’s presence known in downtown Johnson City by opening it’s doors & stage to a variety of acts.

From local bands playing their first shows & regional favorites bringing out new faces, to national acts packing the house & leaving their mark on future musicians & fans alike,

there’s a reason we’ve been hailed by alot of folks as the CBGBs of the south.

We’ve even had several overseas acts play some of their only US shows ever at our humble bar. Whether it’s a few friends hanging out or a near capacity crowd, a good time is always ensured.
