I visited johns island tool to rent a drill. My initial experience was very good. A staff member assisted me in selecting the model I needed. He quoted me a price of $ 40 for half day and $ 50 for whole day and«I won’t charge you for the bit». I was told I could return the tool by 4:30PM or when they opened in the morning for the half day rate. When he rang me up he charged me the full day rate. I questioned it and he said he’d fix it with a credit or cash when I returned the tool. I accepted his assurance. I returned the tool this morning to a different employee who immediately went on the defensive contradicting what the first gentleman quoted me. When I restated the original quote, he became quite agitated. In a raised, high, voice he said«You want $ 10? You’re arguing over ten bucks! Here! HERE!» He punched at the register and snatched out the bill and in a raised voice told me «Here’s your ten bucks and don’t come back!» He then followed after me as I left, ranting to other staff and customers about $ 10″ first thing in the morning“ I assume this was meant to belittle and humiliate me. The tool worked well, customer service… not so much.
