I really wanted to give this 5 stars due to the awesome menu, but I will have to go back to try more sometime. I had the wings, garlic parmesan and teryaki, plus fries and a drink. It was definitely a lot of food. It was good, but not amazing. I want to try their steak hibachi or their bulgogi burger. It did take a fairly long time to get our food considering how it wasn’t very busy. They did seem to get a fair amount of to-go orders called in though. The inside is decorated nice and trendy. There’s a TV if you need company. P. S. I really wish they were open on Sunday. Please open on Sundays!

Sumo is a fast, no-nonsense, Asian restaurant located near the heart of Johns Creek. It’s conveniently located next to other frequented restaurants, like Chipotle, Starbucks, and Yogurt Mountain. The restaurant is small but adequately furnished: flat-screen tv’s along the walls, booths to the side and table seating in the middle. The menu is relatively simple, they serve a small assortment of hibachi, wings, sandwiches, fried rice, and salads. However, most people come in only for the hibachi plates. I ended up splitting a chicken hibachi($ 5.99) with a friend; I wasn’t feeling hungry at the time. The wait was a little longer than expected(~8 min), but kinda glad that they cook everything fresh to order then. The hibachi is served on these massive black plates in large portions. Each hibachi plate also comes with a side of yum yum sauce, the sweet mayo-based dip that often comes with sushi. In addition, they offer the sweet teriyaki sauce and sriracha if you want to kick things up a notch. I loved the char of the chicken; there was a slight crispiness on the edges but still juicy in the middle. The teriyaki sauce they used to cook with however was overpowering, a little bit too salty for my taste. The fried rice was okay, quality similar to the fried rice they serve at Chinese takeout restaurants. For the price and portions they serve, it’s hard to beat. Although the food may not be outstanding, this restaurant is a perfect alternative to getting Chipotle when in the area, and will fill you up too.

Fried rice over seasoned, nothing special about the chicken wings and the fried catfishes, really don’t know where all those 5 stars review came from.

KINGOFTHEMOUNTAIN! More than anything, I value consistency. I want to know that when I take a bite of food, it is going to be exactly what I expect it to be: hot, fresh, lightly seasoned and delicious. Despite having a couple of hiccups,(in the beginning), things seem to be going smoothly at this point. Even when there was an issue and a correction needed to be made, the end result was always the same: perfectly prepared and perfectly seasoned food. This place is THAT place,(you know: the last place you visit before you start your colonoscopy fast, the place to celebrate after getting rid of that clingy boyfriend/girlfriend, or the last hurrah before you start that dreaded diet). It is also the first place you want to visit after the colonoscopy, to celebrate a new relationship or to cheat on that dreaded diet. Whatever the need, this is the place! During this recent visit, I had the pleasure of dining with my offspring and this was the first visit for my daughter. If you read my previous review, you already know that this is my son’s second home. He eats here approximately three times per week and never strays from his typical order of hibachi chicken and fried rice. My daughter enjoyed her meal of honey garlic wings and onion rings and has officially become a Sumo convert. This could easily become our new family lunch spot! If you visit for the first time, I highly recommend the ranch wings and the chicken fried rice. The fried rice is that rice that you are always expecting from other Asian restaurants but can never get because they consistently fall short. This rice is clean,(not starchy or clumpy), well prepared(excellent mix of veggies and spot on flavor), always fresh and lightly seasoned. The wings today were not over seasoned and were the perfect bite. You have a choice of sauces with the wings and rice but they are simply not necessary because when food is well executed you don’t need to add anything except a fork. It does take a few additional minutes for certain items like wings and catfish but these items are well worth the wait because they are freshly prepared. I recently tried the onion rings for the first time and was pleasantly surprised! They are not those typical skinny rings saturated with oil but are nice and fat with a very light taste. There was a hint of yeast that reminded me of homemade bread. Delicious! The catfish, Oh, the catfish! It is truly the business! Although it has been several years since I have ordered fish(I eat it often at home), in a restaurant I decided to do so for the first time at Sumo’s. I wasn’t just tempted by the photo, I reasoned that if everything else is so well prepared, this should be too. It was absolutely perfect in every conceivable way,(perfectly seasoned and nicely prepared without being over or under-cooked). It is exactly the catfish I remember from my childhood and I certainly recommend trying it along with everything else. Thank you Sumo for going above and beyond with exceptional customer service and creating a great dining experience! **** The owner is always on hand so if you have any questions or concerns, he is very approachable and wants to make sure that his customers are pleased with their meal. Check those reviews again! **** If you only like the flat part of the wing, you may order accordingly. **** There are televisions in the restaurant and it will be open during Superbowl Sunday. This means that you had better get there early if you are eating in. If not, you will probably want to place that take-out order in advance of the game or plan on celebrating after the game. Either way, it’s a win, win! 1÷28÷16 Tried the Chicken Philly tonight and it was delicious, served on the perfect warm and toasty bun. Hubby’s Spicy Korean Philly,(nicely flavored, slightly sweet sauce but not spicy), was great as well. Legit!

This place was amazing. The wings were perfect, the fried rice was awesome, my wife had the hibachi steak and it was fantastic as well; the price and portions were the best I’ve seen in a long while: I really hope they don’t change a thing. New favorite place!

Customer service was great! Wings were great! Fried Rice was kind of greasy… I haven’t eaten it yet. A friend had the Hibachi Chicken and ate the whole thing! They have Crinkle Fries which are pretty decent. The servings are very generous so you’ll leave full. They also have TVs there so you can watch whatever game is on. They also play music(Top 40& some Hip Hop). I’ll definitely be returning to try other dishes :).

Great express Hibachi! Good on the wallet too. Great little hole in the wall. Easy to call ahead and pop in for some fresh carry-out food. Huge portions! I’ve heard the burger is good too but I can’t stop ordering the Hibachi.

New to Johns Creek, GA. Food is very tasty. They use a lot of fresh vegetables. The portions are large and the prices are very reasonable. So glad to have them in the community. Staff very polite and accommodating. Also, best fountain lemonade I have had in ages!

Huge portions. You definitely get the value for your money. I got the special with 10 wings and beef fried rice. The wings weren’t over seasoned, and they were nice and crisp. The fried rice had a healthier taste to it – not your typical low-quality hibachi rice. Everything was fairly tasty too, I actually didn’t use any sauce on the rice because I liked the taste. I ended up not being able to finish, so I packed everything leftover to take home. It’ll definitely last me another meal. $ 10 for 2 meals isn’t bad!

Sumo is located in the same plaza as Chipotle and Firstwatch. The interior is very bright, modern, and well kept. Sumo also has TVs on each side of the restaurant showing the latest news or games. Onto the food! Sumo’s menu consists a variety of chicken wings, hibachi, fried rice, hamburgers, and so much more. Their chicken wings are nicely fried and battered with your choice of sauce such as hot, teriyaki, lemon pepper, honey garlic, garlic parmesan and ranch. Choice of either ranch or bleu cheese is always included with the order of wings. The meats to go into your fried rice include: beef, chicken, shrimp, and house(which consists of all three meats). For you vegetarians, there is a veggie option. Yum-yum sauce is always included with the fried rice. They also have many choices of combo meals! I personally like the wings and house fried rice combo.(Note: house fried rice is a dollar extra) Fries! Sumo has really good crinkle fries. Fried at the perfect consistency. Get them! Sumo has a peach drink next to their sweet teas. I tried a sip of it and it was a bit too sweet for me, but it’s a nice alternative to your usual soda or water. Did I mention that the portions are huge! All meals come in a nice black tray container. You sure get the bang for your buck. This place is definitely not for you peeps who are trying to eat clean! But if you’re on a cheat day and looking for something fast, cheap, and delicious, then I would highly recommend Sumo.

This is a new place in the shopping center that has a number of excellent places to eat. I was more than delighted with a quick stop for take out. I had a 10 wing/vegetable fried rice combo. The wings were very good. Cooked properly and quite tasty. The fried rice was outstanding. There were a number of employees hustling and the orders were placed and delivered in a timely manner. I saw a number of take out pick ups. The place was clean and employees took the time to clean tables(which is a rarity theses days). I am going to come back and have recommended it to many. I think I will order instead of calling ahead because they are quick and the stir fry method will ensure hot food. I also hope that they read the reviews and keep up the good service as it gets more popular.

This place is awesome. The hibachi was great value for the money, and it was delicious. It was cheaper than Chipotle, which is right next door, and you get even more food than their burrito bowl! Will definitely come to the place any chance I get. Everything is very clean and neat, and the staff is friendly. 8⁄8 would definitely recommend to everyone.

If you’re looking for something new in Johns Creek go to Sumo. Great atmosphere, it’s clean, and the food is exceptional. DK the owner is very service oriented. My wife and I usually share a Sumo Wings meal, there’s that much fried rice. One thing I ask is that they stay open to at least 10 pm on Friday night.

Gotta love your teenagers for dragging you out to a new eating spot. My son begged his step dad and I to try Sumo. Was not sure about Hibachi and wings. As soon as we walked in the place was clean and modern. The staff super friendly and the owner Dk even greeted us. We ordered what our son ordered and the portions are huge, food is hot, fresh and very very good. Johns Creek has been starving for new eateries. This is not another chain restaurant. Thank goodness!!! Such an amazing option versus the overrated Chipotle or Panda Express. I feel like I finally have other options for a quick eat. Did I mention the great friendly service? Keep up the great work team Sumo.

The Bulgogi Philly was a good, standard Philly sandwich and the fried catfish(individual) was perfect! I am definitely interested in trying more of the menu.

For a quick fix of chicken teriyaki it’s pretty good. Everything is brand new so the décor is very nice and it’s all clean. They did mix up my order and gave me fried rice instead of steamed. I told them that it really wasn’t that big of a deal but they insisted on making it right and gave me another order of chicken teriyaki with steamed rice to go. I would have been fine if they just gave me the order with fried rice although I really appreciate them making it right and going the extra mile to make me a satisfied customer. I will be coming back here again to try some of their other stuff.
