A family resource center professionally integrating the behavioral sciences and the faith of our clients to provide individual, couples, and family counseling. With a staff of 18 licensed therapists we serve people of all ages and provide a wide range of specialty services including help for those who want to grow individually, couples who want to improve their relationship, parents, teens, and children. We help people tackle alcohol or substance abuse problems, anxiety, depression, grief, trauma and loss. We also have Play Therapy for children!
History
Established in 1990.
The Summit Counseling Center was founded in 1990, officially incorporating in Georgia in 1997 and is now a 501, c, 3 Non Profit Corporation eligible for tax deductible contributions.
Meet the Manager
David S.
Manager
David Smith, M.Div., M.A. has served as Executive Director of The Summit Counseling Center since January 2001. David is both an ordained minister and a licensed therapist. Prior to joining The Summit, he was employed by the Palmetto Baptist Healthcare System (now Palmetto Health) as Director of Community Care and Counseling of Aiken, South Carolina from 1996 through 2000. In the early years of his career he served on the staff of the Pastoral Counseling Center (now CareNet) of the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. David has served as a pastoral counselor, a psychiatric chaplain and as a marriage and family therapist since 1989. He has been married to Vicki Smith since 1986 and they have two sons, Jonathan and Daniel.
